There are many helpful websites for beginning and experienced ukulele players, and Ukulele Underground is one of the best around. It's even better now that it officially announced its redesign this week.
Among other improvements, the updated site features a new membership feature that allows followers to participate in the upcoming Ukulele Underground Network websites.
The site has a lot of goodies, including a store where you can buy uke clothes, hats and such, as well as strings and even ukes. There's a popular forum, group site and - best of all - lots of free instructional videos many featuring the ever-effervescent Aldrine Guerrero. There are also member videos and regularly scheduled live lessons for the Ukulele Underground staff. New video lessons are posted every Saturday. Live lessons are conduced every Wednesday at 2 p.m. Hawaii time.
Guerrero is a co-founder of the site, along with Ryan Esaki and Aaron Nakamura.
"When my partners and I set out (three) years ago to create Ukulele Underground, our mission statement was simple," Esaki wrote on his blog. "We wanted to create the next generation of ukulele players."
