Tiger Woods: should he quit golf or not?

So should Tiger Woods quit golf, simply take a break or be back as soon as possible?

An enterprising newspaper in Nigeria had the bright idea of talking to the country's professional golfers about what Tiger Woods should be doing. The consensus seems to be that Tiger Woods should indeed take a break. However, there's a number who say that infidelity is nothing unusual and that any family matters are about family and should stay there.

Some samples of what they say about the Tiger Woods affair:

Christian Godfrey: As for me, the call for Tiger Woods to resign is not the issue. What happened to him can happen to anybody in life.

Really? Any of us can have 18 mistresses?

Victor Enaigbe: He is not the first sports person to indulge in sexual indiscretion. Remember that tennis star, Boris Becker and NBA star Kobe Bryant were once caught in similar act.

Well, that's sort of true. Kobe was accused of rape wasn't he? And Becker fathered a child in a 10 second fling in a restaurant stairwell. Perhaps a closer analogy would be with Marvin Johnson.

Bashiru Bakare: The answer is no because it not just going to happen. I think Tiger will come back after his self imposed ban. He is not the first person in America or even in the world to fall into the trap of infidelity. Same thing befell a former US President, Bill Clinton during the Monica Lewinsky scandal. And that neither led to his impeachment as president nor to his break up with his wife, Hillary.

Well, no, that's not quite true either. Bill Clinton was impeached: for impeachement is the process that goes on in hte House where they consider sending him to trial in the Senate. Impeachment does not mean having to quite: it means that process in the House which very much did take place.

Tony Uduimoh: I don?t think he should leave golf. Taking a break from golf is all he needs and it is not unusual. Let us face the fact most men all over the world are involved in this type of mistake. Even in America, you see their top politicians always embroiled in some form of infidelity.

Most men commit adultery? And all top politicians in the US? Good grief, if only most of them were that interesting.

But as I say, the interesting point is that the general consensus is, Tiger Woods should take a break but definitely not give up golf. He's simply too good for that.

Tiger is a professional golfer. His personal life is a seperate issue. Tiger Woods is the best golfer bar none. Unfortunately like most young men, Tiger doesn't have the compass to make the right decsions until he has made some mistakes. Tiger was treated as a product, rather then a human being. PGA and all the ones that jumped on his talent to ride him to bigger paydays. Michelson is nothing. He is so average. He will never win 6 tournament in a season unless the top 30 golfer fail to show up for a year.
If tiger doesn't come back, then professional golf will become a pathetic second tier game. Tiger is the PGA.
I am not sure why, but i am sure the reason for his marriage failure will certainly be sorted out. It takes two to make a marriage. It takes two to screw it up. I am sure that neither are blameless. Maybe Tiger will understand how this all works after this. He and Ellen will have better lives after this is all sorted out.
signed: waiting for Tiger's return to the game.

Are you kidding me? His job is inside the ropes. His life outside the ropes has no bearing on his talent or what he has accomplished in the game, it doesn't change one single record he has broken or stands to break. Yes, he's currently the face of golf, did the game not exist before Tiger? Am I missing something? Here's a few players that have put golf on the map....Player, Trevino, Nicklaus, Palmer, Norman, Couples, Faldo, Ballesteros, Harrington....they're are plenty of names that have been the face of golf at one point or another. There will be another phenom & role model out there soon and they will break his records.

Hockey went from Gretzky to Lemieux to Crosby, to Malkin to Ovechkin, the sport will survive. It's just a little bruised right now, like Tiger, no pun intended, ; )

There's just a few more pressing issues the media could be dwelling on, like oh, foreclosures, job creation, health bill, etc...forget WoodsGate and fix your countries recession/depression.
