UFO lands in Texas, two 'creatures' on the ground

A group of Texas witnesses near Monahans watched an oval-shaped UFO near ground level with two "strange men" nearby on December 11, according to testimony from the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) database.

They reported that the craft was 30 to 40 feet across and hovering 4 to 5 feet off of the ground.

Three children originally saw the object, according to the statement, and alerted the adults at a family gathering inside. They first smelled "burning mesquite," and "a sort of electrical charge to the very air around us."

They then noticed a light at ground level and moved into position to see better.

The object appeared to be "highly polished material" with "a small dull glow." The two "creatures" nearby were described as about 4 feet tall, skinny, with large heads.

The report includes details about how the "creatures" did not notice them until one of the children screamed, which appeared to alert the two beings near the craft. The two then disappeared behind the craft, and the craft "rose quietly and hovered about 40 feet from the ground, and shot out like a bat out of hell. As it zoomed away, it started glowing and made it easier to track as it zoomed away getting higher and higher till it faded away."

Monahans is the county seat of Ward County, Texas, population 6,821.

Following is the unedited and uninvestigated report from MUFON. Please keep in mind that most UFO reports can be explained as something natural or manmade. Some reports may be hoaxes. If Texas MUFON investigates and reports back on this case, I will release an update.

TX, December 11, 2009 - Object hovering just off the ground, strange "men" scurrying about around the craft. MUFON Case # 20985.

We were having a family/friends get together to celebrate a birthday. During the celebration two of my nephews and a neice came tearing into the house, screaming at the top of their lungs, saying that a plane crashed in one of the adjacent pastures. My Brother, myself and about 3 others walked outside to see what was causing all the ruckus.

We didn't see anything out of the ordinary except a strange burning smell that smelled like burning mesquite. we didn't think anything of it since it was kind of nippy and someone could have been burning some wood in thier fireplaces. We told them to show us where they saw the plane go down and we walked over to the place they showed us.

The first thing we noticed was that all the dogs in the area were going bonkers. They were barking up a storm, like they were all seeing the same thing.

The area we live in is pretty much a rural community, unless you live in the city of Monahans, many of the houses are set on large plots of land, usually 4-5 acres per house. Although we can see the houses of many of our neighbors and we do have traffic on the road, you do get the feeling of being all to yourself out here. Some of the land by our house is over run by wild mesquite tree's. only a small portion of the land surrounding the house is cultivated and cleared out. Beyond the stand of trees runs a small barbed wire fence that seperates us from our neighbors, who I could see were home from the lights on in the house.

We walked around the edge of the trees, not wanting to really go into the stand at night. Even though its technically winter, there could be rattlesnakes seeking shelter in amongst the tree's, not to mention that mesquite trees have some wicked thorns that protrude from them, they are razor sharp and quite capable of punching through a pair of jeans or boots and they hurt like hell to get out.

As we looked around, we started noticing a sort of electrical charge to the very air around us. Almost like the kind you feel when you approach a large electrical substation or a charged and active radio antenna.

As we made our way around the trees, one of my brothers noticed some light peeking through the trees, I told him it was probably one of the neighbors leaving or coming home. He promptly told me that it couldn't be head lights because the light seemed too defused and not as concentrated as a car's headlight.

We moved around and as we cleared the stand of trees, we were shocked to see an oval shaped object hovering, maybe 4-5 feet off the ground. We stood there in total shock, and awe. I can only imagine that our jaws were probably on the ground. As we stood there watching this object hover there without a sound, I took note that the object was maybe about 30-40 feet from front to back, it was maybe the same dimensions around. The object seemed to be of a highly polished material that reflected the area around it. The reflection of the distant street lights from the surrounding neighbors properties seemed to reflect off the surface of the object. There was also a small dull glow to the object, barely noticable unless you were really looking, almost like an aura of sorts, a irredecent blue of sorts.

As we stood there in total shock, My brother next to me expressing his disbelief, we saw two strange looking "Men" appear from around the object. They at first didn't notice us, they were busy running around and gathering objects from the ground, from the trees. They didn't seem to notice us at first. They looked to be about the size of my oldest nephew, about 4 feet tall, but they looked very skinny, like they had no meat on their bones. Their heads were large and their arms were long, skinny and hung down around their knee's. About this time my two nephews came walking up behind us (scaring the hell out of us). They saw the object and the strange "men" and in a voice that only a kid can project, screamed out loud "WHAT ARE THOSE THINGS!".

Thats when the creatures turned and noticed us. The sight of these creatures was something that will haunt me till the day I die. It turned and looked right at us. It's eyes were large, almost like the eyes of a praying mantis, except they were jet back and wrapped around its head. the two creatures looked at us for about 7 seconds, not an ounce of movement, before they calmly walked around the craft, one right after the other. they disappeard behind the craft and we never saw them again.

A few seconds later the craft lifts up, not a sound coming from the object, no rush of wind, not even a swaying of the nearby branches of a mesquite tree. It rose quietly and hovered about 40 feet from the ground, and shot out like a bat out of hell. As it zoomed away, it started glowing and made it easier to track as it zoomed away getting higher and higher till it faded away.

We stood there in complete silence as we tried to make heads or tails of what the hell we just saw. My brother finally piped up and said "Should we call the police?" After which, I burst out in laughter and replied to him " And tell them what?" My nephew looked like he had just seen the devil himself, which considering what we just saw I don't blame him.

He didn't want to talk about it, and after we made our way back to the house, he still didn't talk about. I tried to ask him about it yesterday and he basically told me that he didn't want to think about it yet, he was still processing what had happened to him. I was more than happy to leave it at that.

I never really believed in the subject of UFO's or Alien's, but after the events of this night, I'm seriously going to re-evaluate that belief.

I know that I plan to keep my mind open, and start looking up towards the sky a little bit more from now on.

Thank you

I grew up in Monahans, Texas and rememeber seeing many different things in my life. There are lots of sightings of strange red lights, espicially near the large electrical plant at the edge of town. This is something I plan to follow up on, time to make a few calls to some friends back home!

Skutch sees it - this reads like a short story that has been carefully dramatised and is one of the least believable accounts I have ever read. Why would the kids say they saw a plane crash when there wasn't a crash and the object didn't look like a plane? Why was the burning smell considered "strange" when it smelled of the local wood people burn domestically and they thought nothing of it at the time?

The final statements about re-evaluating beliefs and keeping an open mind seem ridiculously understated considering what they supposedly saw at close range.

I kind of agree with everyone. This is either a really, really good case; or it's a hoax written by a very literate person. One or the other. The biggest clue here is that there is a large group that witnessed this event. If it's a real case, then there are multiple witnesses; and very possibly ground evidence. We may just have a CE4 where the reporting witness has a college education. Or, we may have a hoax written by someone with a college degree. Only Texas MUFON knows for sure right now; because the next 24 to 72 hours will determine if this case is real or fiction. I will follow-up for my readers. Let's not pass judgment until we either hear from the witnesses; or hear that it's a hoax.

Excellent story. The details about the electric smell and the highly reflective surface of the craft gives it a lot of credibility. It would be wise for anyone in this day and age to always have a camera phone with them; this may be the first of more occupant sightings.

Does anyone else find the following statement a little strange?

My brother finally piped up and said "Should we call the police?" After which, I burst out in laughter and replied to him "And tell them what?"

You, yourself just have witnessed with your own eyes what had to be a very unusual piece of hardware with living, breathing extraterrestrial beings walking about. Upon realizing the gravity of what you just witnessed would you “burst out laughing” if another witness offered up a very reasonable course of action?

I honestly would laugh if someone suggested that we call the police after witnessing that. I would contact MUFON and not mention it to the news or police. Since it will in the end hamper the investigation. Specially in a town that size.

I don't think I would be in any shape to laugh. I would like to think that once I stopped shaking I would have the sense to have someone run back to the house and get a camera while I walked down to the area where I saw the thing and look for any CE2 artifacts. The police get a bad rap when it comes to things like this, but there are cases where they are key observers. Take for example the sighting by five on duty police officers of a huge black triangle near Scott Air Force Base in Illinois. Made that case very intriguing.

Roger, I respectfully disagree that "only Texas MUFON knows for sure" if it's a hoax, the next 72 hours determining if this case is real or fiction. The WITNESSES know if this case is real or fiction! If this is real, might MUFON say it's "unknown?" People usually doubt other people: Most people don't think other people can perceive reality as well as they do. The more educated a person is the more they will live that, and teach others to do the same! I don't have a college degree, and most of those with "more education" than I do KNOW they know more about me than I do myself! Unless someone has had a "supernatural" or "paranormal" experience, they REALLY have no idea how that moment will affect them at that time when it does actually happen: SHOCK. People react to a shocking event in different ways. On the same rollercoaster ride everyone's experiencing, some people LAUGH and some people SCREAM! If a simple rollercoaster ride does that to people, what might this "experience" do to us?

    Assuming? Judgmental?

I find it humorous reading the posts about the good grammar, It's nice to see spelling and punctuation as well. Then they want to give the story credibility.
Then others come out and say the grammar was too good like a story leading to a plot or something, so the credibility was in question.
If the grammar was bad it would naturally be questioned! It sounds like a no win scenario.

I question all of your thinking! It doesn't matter what education level or writing ability one may have. If you see a UFO you see a UFO!

    Assuming? Judgmental?
What ever happened to the old saying? Never judge a book by it's cover.

Should we not base things more towards the scientific facts, if possible?
Proof or no proof, the sighting could be real or a hoax.
Proof of it being real equals real.
No proof of a hoax equals unknown.
Proof of a hoax equals a hoax.

CH - a member of my group worked it yes I know. No one wanted this to be true more than I did. Roger, I will try to get permission to release the information as soon as he is finished working the case. I'm not going to jump the gun on my own investigator.

    To SRV my friend,
My comments were directed at people assuming a sighting was a good sighting due to grammar and punctuation of writing etc. Like this would make a sighting more credible or real. It's hard for people to come forth and report when people just look for ways to attack them. I am not assuming in one way or another if this sighting is genuine. I of course just like you always hope every sighting reported is genuine and never a hoax. If this is your case, your own investigator, then I'm sure things will be done as best as can be with what has been presented. Whatever time it takes is what it takes to sift through it all. Is your investigator going to take soil and plant samples etc? It's a lot of work, time, this could even be costly. I sure hope this case is no hoax! Too bad it's not a crime to report fake sighting, huh!
    Take care!

    Hi SRV,
I'm aware of one group of Aliens species that are of Asian looks, build etc. Q'uan-Shu or otherwise know as Ch'uan-Shu an original Martial Arts system dating back about 5,000 years. A system which is meditation through movement. A 108 animal system. Once a certain level of skill & high mental states of oneness mentally & physically are achieved these Asian type of Aliens come after these Ch'uan-Shuist. They are hostile. No UFO presence has ever been reported. In 1976 I was the first & last non-Chinese person to ever be excepted in this Federation. The first test that I had to endure to be excepted was standing in a Horse stance for 8 hours without moving a muscle from the waste down. If you move you fail the test, never to be excepted. After 8 hours of this you must keep your head level & bring your left foot smoothly next to the right foot. If this can't be don't, then you fail as well. A very mental art. It is thought the Art came from them & they have came to take it back??

The witness should talk to his nephew and the kids as well, and get to drawing pics of what they saw; each person should draw their own interpretation of the creatures and the craft. And the kids should also write out what they saw, as well as the grown ups. Mufon investigators and other future researchers will need detailed sketches and info for their files, and it will help everyone process what happened. But they should talk about it, and not be scared. Research the Stephenville TX UFO sightings to see how that community came together to share what they saw; because they all spoke out together people took them seriously.

This is too "textbook" - the witness describing the beings as if he had never seen a (pop culture) depiction of an "alien" before... the "irridescent glow", the collecting things off the ground (yeah I saw ET too)... the whole thing sounds exactly like an amalgamation of every UFO cliche I've ever heard. I call BS. (And I am a believer! Just not of this story.)

I am 42 years old, and live in East Texas, and I have seen some weird lights in the pasture out back(on 70+ acres), 1 very strange silent low moving light only 15 to 20 feet off the ground, moving up from a low spot - half a mile down in the pasture by the lake, and it flew up the hill(we live on a big hill) through the pasture one night about 4 years ago, and vanished behind my parents home about a block away, it was so strange & weird that it had me quickly hauling my wife outside at 1:30 AM in the morning to verify that I wasn't seeing things, she got out there just in time to see it for a couple seconds, and well - we've seen quite a few other weird things I do not have the time to elaborate on, but there are things going, if your a skeptic - you might get the shock of your life very soon...
