A Newtown, PA, witness watched a silent UFO just 50 feet over the treeline on January 9, according to testimony from the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) database.
Two hours later, "four choppers" in formation were in the area for about an hour.
The witness was driving along Manor Road at 1:32 a.m. on a clear night and stopped his vehicle after spotting "a row of lights that looked strange."
The lights were hovering 50 feet above a nearby treeline about "a few hundred feet" ahead. The witness got out of his vehicle for a better look.
As the UFO slowly banked to the right, all of the lights "faded as if it were going through a cloud, then 4 lights brightened. One on each wing tip and two, spaced, in the middle. "
While the exact shape of the object was not visible, the witness eventually was able to see the back side of the UFO, describing it as "red and white lights, this time in bars, flashing on and off like a laser light show. The configuration of those rear lights showed the back was a different shape. Like the rudder of a plane."
Newtown is in Bucks County, population 2,312, west of the Trenton, New Jersey, metropolitan area, and is part of the larger, Philadelphia area in eastern Pennsylvania.
The following is the unedited and as yet uninvestigated report filed with MUFON. Please keep in mind that most UFO reports can be explained as something natural or manmade. If Pennsylvania MUFON Director John Ventre investigates and reports back on this case, I will release an update.
PA, January 9, 2010 - A row of lights first hovering, then slowly banked just above tree level. Then went away from me and disappeared. MUFON Case # 21415.
I was in Newtown, PA working. I was on Manor Rd. at 1:32am.It was a totally clear night. I had just looked at the clock when ahead of me in the sky was a row of lights that looked strange, so I stopped.
They were just hovering about 50ft. above the trees and a few hundred feet ahead of me. It was totally silent. I got out to get a better look.
It started to bank right, very slowly. All the lights faded as if it were going through a cloud, then 4 lights brightened. One on each wing tip and two, spaced, in the middle.
As it contined to bank, I saw a row of small red lights under the two center white lights and then a second row of small red lights on the belly.
I absolutely could not see the shape of the craft. Just blackness.
It contined to turn around until I could see the back. I then saw red and white lights, this time in bars, flashing on and off like a laser light show. The configuration of those rear lights showed the back was a different shape. Like the rudder of a plane. It was going away, but still clear in the sky and I reached for the door handle of my van, glanced back up, and it was just gone.
When I first saw it and noticed it was silent, I thought of stealths.
I went to an air show once and saw a stealth, but this didn't look like that. As I was looking at the front, I was reminded of a manta ray, or skate.
I was surprised and a little uneasy, but it didn't do anything, just went away, so I went back to work. When I spoke with co-workers, one suggested it was some kind of upgraded stealth. Ok, but we're not near a military base, and a stealth wouldn't have a laser light show on the back.
I don't know what it was.
Two hours after I saw this, four choppers, in formation, were seen by me and a co-worker. As they got to Newtown, they split up. I could see them, singly, as I contined to work, for about another hour.

Is the following of helicopters a give-away to what it is???
Many of these UFO reports where the object is close to the ground are followed by the helicopters coming in to search.
I think I am correct in saying that it's usually triangles that are followed by choppers, and it's possible, from what the witness said, that this was a triangle.
Helicopters are slow and short range, and they always seem to know where to look. This leads me to think that perhaps the triangles are of government origin. Perhaps they look for pollution traces.
Bigfoot73: I keep hearing that triangles are government technology from some very good people in the ufology field; but then as I read report after report after report; I ask myself why the pilots of these crafts are allowed out among the population "scaring people." Some of the triangle reports just don't make sense from a U.S military point of view. I want them to be ours, I really do, but the casual reports of them creeping up on people make me believe that they're something else.

I however have a different twist to both ideas. There are also reports of abductions by Greys associated with Triangle sightings. I have also read reports of Greys being seen through windows of Triangles. Also reports of Greys & military personal on board Triangles. My thoughts go along with the supposed trade in technology with the US government & the Greys, which started during the early 50's. I'm thinking the grey's are helping us engineer the Triangles etc. Some are the Grey's & some are manned with US military working with the Greys, side by side. Nice technology, but just as the US government would do, the Aliens keep their best stuff for themselves. We don't have free reign with this combined project. This gives me the indication why we also are trying to make our own stuff, but we can't match what we can make working with the Greys.

One of my triangle sighting was a large craft with three large round lights along front sides. It's surface was reflective like water that had a slight vibration to it. The bottom had no lights, also none was seen from the rear either. No blinking lights. Very light colored blue white lights, windows? Silent. The left side of this craft flew right over me at about 2,000 ft or less. Aircraft at my location coming in for approach are at 3,000 ft at the lowest height. I called the airport and at my address this is what I was told. I seen this craft when it first came in. It was so fast at first, it streaked like a meteor! No sonic boom. From the time I saw it to the time it was no longer visible, 3 to 3 & half seconds. Very fast! I estimate the area between the 3 lights down one side to be about a football field length. It was the biggest thing I have ever seen in the air. It gave me an uneasy feeling, but was too fast to really invoke fear into me. If it hovered above me maybe! :)

The NCIDS conducted an almost decade long investigation into the triangle UFO phenomenon. Throughout most of the investigation they were of the opinion that they were of earthly origin, but towards the end they began to waver a bit.
I'm still leaning towards either gov't vehicles or misinterpreted every day objects. I think we can easily make a large lighter than air craft silent and invisible, but I would like to know why they seem to appear so often in urban areas and why they are so often clearly visible!

If they were military then surely they would be trying them out over Afghanistan and Iraq, or at least some weapons ranges, or at high altitude.
Observing witnesses and hovering over their cars or houses doesn't require new military technology. Triangles are the only UFO type that act in a sinister fashion, and the only type that get pursued by helicopters ( and sometimes jets too, I seem to recall). Maybe the US government are worried about them.
Something I overlooked when writing my first post :- triangles are now being seen over UK - which is unnecessary and undiplomatic for a military prototype.
In the early 1990's, maybe 1993, my sister in-law and her husband were "charged" by a ufo while they were out night hunting in rural northern Missouri. They felt threatened and sought protection inside the wood line. My sister in-law actually tripped and fell on her rifle trying to get over a fence to get to the wood line! (Could have been very serious consequences had the safety been off.) A total of five local people saw the roughly 20 foot object. The next morning my husband was eyewitness to the black unmarked helicopter while farming on acreage near the sighting locations. A day or two later we were all sitting around having coffee speculating as to what would happen if we notified people besides the sheriff (who was notified). We decided no one would believe us due to the then new television program the "X-Files". People would claim we were just copying and recreating what we "saw on tv". I read about triangles with lights on the bottom and no lights on the bottom. Lights on the side and not on the bottom! No lights! Blinking lights and no blinking lights! Near the bottom of the page there is mention of a stealth aircraft seen hovering before turning into an orb. what sort of stealth aircraft can hover? Just how weird is the secret technology, and where has it come from?

Here is yet another example. 100 hundreds of descriptions of Bigfoot too, just like ufos! At least Santa Claus isn't full of wild descriptions, or even junior would be smart enough not believe in Santa until they get older!

Valid points to possibly drown the wanta be believers in UFOs. Except I've had numerous sightings, and they were not all just lights in the sky. What will cure the skeptic is their own UFO sighting. Reading about them will not. Go watch the skies. I'm in Salt Lake City, Utah and I watch most everyday. Jan. 2nd, 7th, 8th, and the 11th I had sightings, this year! Sounds like all he saw were the airliners stacked up to land at Philly International. They make a long approach down the Delaware from around this area. They seem to hover motionlessly for a while before the bank southward. This creates the illusion of hovering and "disappearing" as the bank away. As for the helos, he's very close to Willow Grove and they've been running CH-53s (that fly in formation) all weekend long.
I live right here and see these same images all the time and it's easy to see how they could be misidentified. I'm not saying there are no UFOs, just that this wasn't one of them.
I too experienced a UFO sighting in the Bucks County area (Doylestown, PA) when I lived there. I still have the entire experience written down right after I witnessed it... there are definitely strange things going on occasionally in that area of PA...
