Two objects reported crashed near Mongolian capital: UFO or engine parts?

Very little information accompanied a photo of what is claimed is an object that fell from the sky near the Mongolian capital, according to a report filed February 23 with the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) witness database.

The report states that two objects fell near the Mongolian capital on February 19. The first object, according to the report, weighed 10 kg, while the second larger object weighed "approximately 2 tons."

Could this simply be an engine that fell off a jet?

Ulan Bator is the capital city of Mongolia.

Reports of crashed UFOs and the construction of an alien embassy were reported out of nearby Kazakhstan in 2009, but an American living there reported to the UFO Examiner that the stories were posted to advance tourism.

The following is the unedited and as yet uninvestigated report filed with MUFON. Please keep in mind that most UFO reports can be explained as something natural or manmade. If MUFON International investigates and reports back on this case, I will release an update.

Mongolia, February 19, 2010 - Two unknown object crashed into ground. MUFON Case # 21989.

Two unknown object crashed into ground near Mongolian capital city. One is smaller about 10 kg, another is huge approx 2ton.

    Roger your fast! (Smiles)
It didn't take you long to have this story posted, I was thinking tomorrow? Glad you also liked it. * I would really like to know any and all findings on these two objects. Also the other object that to earth, it would be nice to have picture of that too. The pictured object, doesn't look like a jet engine due no jet rotors or a proper opening. It appears to have a core inside a core. More pictures would be great huh! Someone is teasing us? Maybe we are just lucky to get this picture? Mongolian Government may swallow this one up!

    Take care Roger!

C.H. When I see something I like, I jump on it. Thanks for the news tip. I haven't been scanning on the foreign stories - domestic only - so thanks for pointing this one out. I've been burned on many foreign UFO news tips. And this one has virtually nothing to go on. I'd like to believe it's some kind of space junk; but my best guess it's something that fell off of one of ours; or they were just tearing something down in that area; and someone thought the photo looked interesting. But, as always, I keep an open mind. But I have more important things to watch - like what could be a surge in Florida UFO reports. Thanks again and keep watching the skies.

I think it's safe to assume this is the larger object. I think it's also safe to assume if an engine fell off a plane somebody might notice - the crew for instance!
How are they so sure it weighs 2 tons? It doesn't look much like a jet engine.Possibly the surface visible inside the thing is actually the interior of the far side, and it is completely hollow. Maybe a jettisoned fuel tank, dropped by something on it's way up out of the atmosphere, that survived because it didn't have to go through the full re-entry ordeal?
Most Russian and Chinese space junk comes down on land in those latitudes, so maybe this is some of it.
Given a few days and it will probably turn out to be someone's exploded sewage tank!

Not every space mission will be made aware to the public. More than likely empty fuel stage of some rocket or other?

Whatever it is there was an explosion from the inside out it looks like. You can see the metal curled outward on the inner and outer surfaces. I would love to do some metallurgical tests and look for made in China stickers.

If its an airplane engine, then wheres the plane? Don't you think that would effect the flight of the aircraft it belonged to?

Its a UCO (unidentified crashed object). Seriously dought its the engine from a plane. Why would an engine just fall off a plane? Possibly a piece of space debis.

    My earthly guess.......

After blowing up the picture and studying it for quiet a while:

*** My best guess to this point is that:

It could and most likely is a prop engine, with the front part where the prop would have been attached facing away from us.
The prop of course detached now.
The part facing us is the area that was attached to the wing. Hinze the shape of a wing and the metal being pulled outward as it was ripped off.
It appears to have came off a wing of an air craft.
This is not a jet engine due to it not having both an intake or outtake visible.

Until proven other wise this is what I now think it is.

I forgot to add one other note. Farmers and country folk etc and especially a 3rd world country.......might not necessarily know what an aircraft engine looks like up close, prop engine or otherwise. I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt that they knowingly posted a prop engine to MUFON.

(Also knowing even our own public here in the USA, they might not know either, so no slam against our Mongolian friends was intended)

If there are no reports of low crashing aircraft, then its space debris. There's enough of it up there.

There is about a foot of snow on the ground right now across 90% of Mongolia....that photo is not real.

Looks like part of a tailfin that's been there for years. Photo seems taken from angle to obscure its identity. Little sign of recent ground impact and as noted elsewhere...not enough snow!
