A Pennsylvania witness traveling along the turnpike in Montgomery County watched a "very large saucer object" hovering above the tree line January 25, according to testimony from the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) database.
The driver reports the incident occurred near where the road splits for "Route 476 or the Allentown ramp."
"The rest of traffic was slowing down as well to get a look too."
The following is the unedited and as yet uninvestigated report filed with MUFON. Please keep in mind that most UFO reports can be explained as something natural or manmade. If Pennsylvania MUFON Director John Ventre investigates and reports back on this case, I will release an update.
PA, January 25, 2010 - typical flying saucer shape with two very bright white lights. MUFON Case # 21645.
First off, I would never usually believe in this type of thing but I'm in awe of what I saw tonight.
Coming home from work, I took the PA turnpike ramp from the Willow Grove Mall area so I beleive it would be Montgomery County? Once on the turnpike for a few minutes I saw in the distance two bright white lights.
It caught my eye and I remember thinking why a plane was flying so low to the ground.
I was driving straight towards the light and noticed it was getting closer and not flying away. As I was getting closer I noticed that I wasn't a plane at all and that it wasn't moving just hovering!!!
The part of the turnpike I was on was in the middle of a valley so trees lined both sides of me. This object was to my left side above the tree line with the bright lights just hovering. I was trying to get a close look without wrecking.
It wasn't a helicopter just a very large saucer object. The rest of traffic was slowing down as well to get a look too. So I'm sure there are many other reports of the sighting. The faces of the drivers around me were just as perplexed. This happened right before the road splits to take 476 or the Allentown ramp. By the time I took the ramp I lost sight.
Again this is something I would typically never take the time to write about but I truly feel that I have seen an unidentified flying object!!

Amanda: I think the "balloon boy" is a distant recollection when you see something like this, assuming this is a "good" report.
The other drivers faces are perplexed, but the actual sighting is of "just a very large saucer object"; I think there's a strange emphasis on detail in this report.
I drive the same route going north on 476 towards Quakertown......There are 2 extremely bright lights in the sky, probably planets that are striking to see and I always say to myself "Ill bet someone thinks they are UFOs" but they are not......I always see funny bright objects in the sky around Lansdale....sun off of airplanes usually
Boy oh boy right in my back yard! Willow Grove Naval Air Station is pretty close to there so strange things in the sky (to some) are not uncommon. Tiny red flag, "The part of the turnpike I was on was in the middle of a valley so trees lined both sides of me." and "This happened right before the road splits to take 476 or the Allentown ramp". To the best of my knowledge neither of these locations are in a valley and the area before the turn to take the "Northeast Extension" (towards Allentown) is pretty wide open. Maybe he saw it afterwards? We're out walking around every night between 5 and 7 pm, you would be surprised at the amount of air traffic in this area...not uncommon to see 20 - 30 aircraft, most with their landing lights on. The gentleman filing the report seems sincere.

Hello, Anyone who scoffs at such sightings will quite possibly be laughing at themselves later on down the line. I say this because even as children and my dad we sat out on hot nights to watch silver oblong disks move around the moon, first in one direction and other nights just the opposite, which as kids we delighted in, during the Roswell scare years. After that our dad got us a telescope so we saw those objects much closer than just eyesight. As some fans of UFO's will tell you. Stop looking at your feet and look up. You'd be surprised at what you will see. Yes even in these later years I've seen many others. World government doesn't want us to know the truth. They will do all they can to prevent the population from knowing simply because any UFO's that fall can have their technology stolen and used.
Branni6 - I dont know what the special attraction is about the moon - must be something there. All I know is my father worked for NASA. After he left NASA, he cut down all the trees in the backyard (and over the time all the neighbors' trees died) He then built an obsevatory in the backyard and spent the rest of his life photographing the moon till his mysterious death in 1998. Never told anyone what he was looking for. When asked (and everyone did) his reply was always, "when I find it, I will let you know".

I have a Celestron 6 inch Refractor Telescope with Go To computer. One night last year I was looking at a full moon. I put in a stronger eye piece and was marveling at the surface details. Then this large round gray white object appeared to come off the surface of the moon. It flew across the surface and away! It appeared to be gaining altitude as it flew away. It left me wiping out my eye with dis-belief! You just never know what you're going to see.
CH - You've seen a picture Dad's observatory and telescope, imagine what he must have seen over the course of 30 years of looking.
SRV, Yes I know! I can just think wow! Your Dad's observatory and telescope and all his knowledge and experience. The things he must have saw and knew. What a gold mind of experience. You don't just look at the moon for 30 or more years without a good reason. My feelings, it would seem the powers that be thought he knew too much.
SRV your lucky to have had a dad like him.

Penn is buzzing
Ok folks it's me who filed the report on Monday. Everyone keeps stating that they feel it was a star or a planet, But... It was just about the treeline. I thought it may be a helicopter just hovering but it wasn't. I've been googling the event and I can't seem to find other reports even though others around me were staring as well?

Hi, I read your report. You didn't pull over, stop & get out of your car, correct? If not please do next time. It's very important to be able to listen, was the object silent? Unless of course you could see the true shape of the object? Could you see the surface & structure, a "Saucer"? I don't believe you saw a planet or star, they don't have multiple lights. How many lights did it have on it? Do you remember any colored lights? If so what patterns were the lights & where were the colors? Most people don't report UFOs, so please don't be bothered at all if no one else reported. I, along with my nephew saw a large white surfaced Saucer, it hovered long enough for me to view it with my telescope! It had a bright white light on two of the outer edges. A long the center it had from left to right, two small red lights & two small white lights. None of the lights were blinking at all. With this telescope I can easily see the rings of Saturn. We got an excellent view!

Continued, I know you stated it had two bright white lights, I'm guessing there was more or not? I've seen one UFO that from the front you could only see two bright lights. The width was as wide as a normal passenger jet wing tip to wing tip. It was silent & flew almost directly over me at about 3,000ft. It was white surfaced, smooth dished bottom with no lights on the bottom. From the rear view only I could see two very small blinking lights in the top center area. A red one on the left & a white one on the right. They were on a 45 degree angle from each other, with the red light highest. I watched this craft with 10x50 binoculars too. It later briefly stopped over the SLC airport then slowly moved north. I've seen this same craft hover for 20 minutes. It is silent & sneaky! When it approaches you, you can only see landing lights, except they are on the outer edges.
Different from reg. jets etc, Military transport planes have landing lights on the wing tips!

Also drawings of some of the UFOs I've seen. That one you saw may have been like the one I saw. It looks like two landing lights approaching you, except wider apart than normal for a passenger jet. I think this craft fools a lot of people when it is lit like this. When it comes so close to you & you realize it's silent & also see it hover! You know it's not a normal aircraft. Happily it once flew almost straight over me, while I had binoculars handy! That's when I seen the bottom of it. It was no plane or jet etc! I was in the US Marines, Air Wing Division, I'm a custom to seeing our aircraft, even some of our classified ones, no pictures are permitted. We were not even permitted to discuss UFOs, the subject of UFOs are classified! ET vehicles make our best look like toys!
Hello Eyewitness! Thanks for stopping by. Were you already heading north on the TP when you saw the thing? If you were I understand why you didn't pull over, there is virtually no right shoulder there and pulling off in that area would be taking one's life into their hands. How big did this thing look? If you were holding something at arms length how large would it have to be to cover it completely (dime, quarter, softball, etc)? Willow Grove ENAS is not too far from there, could you have seen a P3 Orion or a C-130 with all their landing lights on? I've seen these from a distance and they can look alot closer and bigger than they really are and at times appear stationary.

I saw huge blinking spotlight rising near the turnpike in Plymouth Meeting. When it went overhead I could see it was a chopper but it was silent.

I have TONS of footage without nightvision. Check out my youtube channel. Includes SILENT one I chased on foot in my pajamas at 4:24 am up the road to film for total of 11 minutes without NV. The UFO that didn't even leave one hit on FAA Primary radar. And it took over 4 minutes to leave my neighbor's property flying low and then cross the road. And, no, there is no military base by me.

I've seen some of your footage except for the link to ones filmed without night vision. Thanks! The UFO that didn't leave one hit on radar. I know many UFOs don't show up on Radar. I was in the US Marines, Air Wing Division. UFOs & just the subject alone is classified, we couldn't ask questions or even talk about them. I was under the impression airports don't tell you anything if something was or wasn't on radar. I thought no information is allowed to be given out, unless you have someone on the inside helping you with this information? So I never asked them due to this, I should! :)
I also like to sky watch & try to get UFOs on film. I'm not pleased with my video cameras.
*May I ask what brand & type camera equipment you use & like? Your camera seems to be easily out doing my Sony or JVC. I have some footage & pictures of UFOs. Perhaps we could compare notes? If you have some tips you would like to pass along, this is my email address: chuanshu108@gmail.com
I've seen something similar to this twice now in the past two months on 476 between the Neshaminy and Willow Grove exits. It's like this plane that just sort of sits in the sky a few hundred feet in the air. The first time I was driving home from visiting family towards the Bristol exit from Willow Grove when my friend and I saw it. I thought it was a plane landing. As I drove closer I realized the main beam coming from the front wasn't moving, only then to realize the plane wasn't moving at all. It just hung there. I don't even know exactly the shape of the plane or object because it was so dark outside. Nobody seems to be able to explain to me what the hell these things are. And I'm not saying I do or do not believe they're interplanetary, I'm just saying I'd like to know. Very curious.
