An Arizona witness on a US Airways flight from Illinois July 21, 2010, observed a shiny, round, silver metallic object moving alongside the jet about 100 to 200 yards away, according to testimony from the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) witness reporting database.
The sighting lasted between 5 and 10 seconds.
"It moved across the sky just below the plane and off the right side moving in a straight line from the front of the plane to the rear along the right side of it," the witness reported.
"At first I thought another plane was flying by but, I quickly realized that was not another plane. It was a round ball shaped object."
The object appeared to be about the size of an SUV.
"Looking at the object I could not see any sheet metal or rivets or any other markings that might identify it. It just looked like one solid object. It looked like it could have been the approximate size of a vehicle. Perhaps the size of a SUV."
The witness is not exactly sure where over Arizona the plane was, although the plane was about to land. No destination city was named in the public portion of the MUFON report. No photos or video were included.
The following is the unedited and as yet uninvestigated report filed with MUFON. Please keep in mind that most UFO reports can be explained as something natural or manmade. If Arizona MUFON State Director Christine Dickey investigates and reports back on this case, I will release an update.

I was on a US Airways flight returning from the Illinois. I am not sure where over AZ we were but, the plane was over Arizona as we were preparing for landing. My guess some where in NE AZ would be the most likley route from Illinois.
Anyway, I was looking out the window ( I usually request window seat) as I like to do as I love to fly. The view is absoluteley amazing.
So, I was looking out the window when I first noticed the object flying close to the plane.
I was surprised to see something that close to a airplane in flight. I could not take my eyes off of it until I could not see it throught the window anymore.
It moved across the sky just below the plane and off the right side moving in a straight line from the front of the plane to the rear along the right side of it. At first I thought another plane was flying by but, I quickly realized that was not another plane. It was a round ball shaped object.
I saw the object for about 5-10 seconds but it seemed a little longer. Almost like time slowed but, I know it could not have happened.
Now, I realize the plane I am in is flying approx 3-600 miles per hour but, the object appeared to either be stationary or about the same speed. I am not exactly sure. The object was a shiney metallic ball shaped object. I did not see any engine or windows in the traditional sense but, it was in the air and I could clearly see the object.
The object was very shiney silver metallic.
Looking at the object I could not see any sheet metal or rivets or any other markings that might identify it. It just looked like one solid object. It looked like it could have been the approximate size of a vehicle. Perhaps the size of a SUV. I am not sure how close it was to the plane but, it appeared to be very close maybe a 100 or 200 yards from the plane maybe less. I cannot be sure as I am not a expert in distances in the air but, it was definetely close.
When the object had left my view from the plane window I looked to the two people sitting next to me and asked if they saw anything. Neither did. I just sat there tyring to figure out what I just happened. Then the plane landed. I got off and went home.

I saw this same thing flying from Portland to Chicago. I thought I was sleep deprived so I didn't think anything of it after I got off the plane. Now that I know that I'm not the only witness I feel much better.
I saw an object just like the one described in the article a few months back while on an Airtran flight to Baltimore Washington Airport. We were just minutes from landing when I saw it right off the right wing tip.
Could this have been a reflection of the plane? Where was the sun at the time? Why only on the right side? Did it turn or fly ahead or lag behind the plane? This article provides me more questions than answers.
Someone needs to investigate this a little more. It seems Chicago and Illinois have had several UFO sightings lately. We had one a few weeks ago too...near Chicago

I saw a round silver metallic sphere about the size of a beach ball. It was floating directly over southbound turnpike traffic, at about 40 mph and 40 ft high. This was right before noon in sunny Miami, FL, I looked around at the other driver's to see if anyone else noticed it, but no one paid any attention to it.
That was just Venus above the horizon...
My wife and I saw a similar shiny sphere trailing a NWA flight just south of Seattle back in 1998. We were walking amongst a newly cut down forest that was leveled for a housing development and we had an interest in the flight patterns since we recently purchased a home nearby. The plane and sphere were headed south and after a minute or so we simply could not resolve the small sphere. The plane did a right turn - probably around Tacoma - and then another to line up with SeaTac to the north, but by the time it came back into closer view there was nothing trailing anymore.
Must have been a chinese lantern weather balloon eh..
These orbs are common around chemtrails.
Some of these flights need infrared cameras onboard. It's beginning to sound like the same spheres that were seen over Mexico City a while back, except now they are uncloaking and showing themselves.
I saw the same thing a couple of years ago about 5 miles from McDill AFB in tampa fl. watched for about 1 min. and when i reached for my camera it was gone several miles in about 3 seconds
what I don't understand is why, if you are in a plane full of other people, you don't call out for other people to look? there should be more witnesses...for that reason I think it is a hoax
Saw the same thing on a flight from LA to Chicago back in 2005.
When you're flying on a plane looking out the window, you don't expect to see a UFO.
Plus, the last thing you want to do on a flight is cause mass panic.
It was in view for a good 10 seconds - couldn't even figure out what I was seeing.
I didn't automatically think "UFO" because it wasn't a flying saucer and I was busy trying to think up of logical things that it could be.
After it went out of view I tapped my sister on the shoulder and said that I thought I may had just seen a UFO. She replied with the same question, "Why didn't you say something or yell out?"
So nobody believed me and I just shut up about it, but it's really cool to see that other people are having the same experience. After five years you begin to wonder if you were just imagining things.
Hmmm. This sole witness makes no mention of how many drinks he/she consumed before the Close Encounter...
On a non-stop flight from Maui to Atlanta, I was looking out the window at the amazing lights of some city. Probably Dallas/Ft Worth, but not sure. I noticed that I could see all the lights below except a complete block-out of a pattern that resembled a boomerang. The lights would dissapear under this boomerang and then reappear again on the other side. I didn't have any kind of camera that would take a picture in this lighting, but asked the two people sitting next to me and in front of me to look out and see if they saw what I did. Both did. One was excited, and the other was visibly upset, thinking something was now wrong. This lasted about 90 seconds, then as the lights began to fade from the city, everything was in complete view again. I'll never forget it.
the ETs are very curious about our 747s in flight, the send theses orbs to check us out all the time while in flight, One sphere hit a 747 on the nose and made a round dent in florida a few years ago,
the FAA said it was an internal problem.
ONE guy on a plane says it saw when they were about to land?? That means they were in populated airspace near an airport....and ONE guy saw it out of many passengers in a populated area....whatever.
I saw a very similar object two yrs ago in July, and I did ask the individual next to me to look too--the object, whatever it was--was so damn fast, there was no time to notify anyone else--My flight was also a USAir from Las Vegas to L.A. by way of PHX!?!?!? There is something buzzing our aircraft---
I know some think he should have called attention to the object, but I would have kept my mouth shut. People look out and don't see anything, and they'll be thinking you've watched too many episodes of the X-Files®.
If you truly want to see them go out side and diligently watch the skies. I do and I get to see them. Yeah some times it can be a few days of nothing and also a few days of WOW! My point is if you want to see whats in our skies - daily you have to take the time to go and look daily. Yes I have pictures and video too. So what, many people do. Only thing is seeing is believing. Go make "YOU"........ "YOURSELF" a complete know-er! Others may have doubts, but you will know! If you live in the Salt Lake City area. I saw something similar twice on our flight from Orlando to Syracuse in 1988. What I saw was an orb, dull gray in color and I could make out a line running the diameter of the craft and a line running the radius extending perpendicular from the other line. Both orbs were identical and we were flying over the coast line both times I witnessed these craft. I was newly married and didn't say anything to my wife because I thought she might think I was nuts and I didn't figure that it was a great way to begin a marriage!
In the first part of the article he/she says that even though the plane is about to land they have no idea what part of Arizona they are over....maybe NE. But the last part he/she says when the plane landed they got off and went home! WOW... How drunk do you have to be to not know where you are and still get home?... TOTALLY WASTED!!
I had the exact same thing happen to me on a flight from NC to Chicago back in 2000. Very cool!
We were on an USAirways plane on August 10 2011 returning from Mexico to the US. My boyfriend saw a silver sphere on the right side wing. The sphere seemed to be scanning the wing for a few seconds. It then lifted about 5 inches above the airplane and flew at the same speed as the plane for a few seconds without shaking whatsoever. It then flew away at very fast speed and it was out of sight. All of this was a total of a few seconds. If someone has photos or videos or an experience you would want to share please email me at timea2006@hotmail.com. I saw one this morning when I brought my little girl to school. She said to look at the balloon and it was following an airplane. It was very shiny and was moving very quickly with the plane. Lafayette, la.
