A Peckville, PA, man driving through Jessup watched a "decending Orange Ball" the size of a car come to within 500 feet of the ground, according to witness testimony from the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) database.
The man said he first noticed the object as it was moving to the ground toward a little league municipal ball park. He got out of his car and heard the sound of an "electonic cracking noise like a mosqueto zapper."
The object was moving downward in a "jerking" motion and the witness felt that the object was aware of him observing it.
He rushed to his car to get a 35mm camera, but a sudden downpour combined with the darkness prevented him from getting a shot.
The man described the object: "1) black nose, 2)then dark red behind that, 3) then orange behind that, 4) then bright white light behind that as it appeared to be a flattend ball mostly dark redish orange! It made no noise with exception to the carckeling zapping and moved very slowly in a floating like motion!"
The complete sighting lasted 5 minutes. Jessup is a borough in Lackawanna County, northeastern PA, population 4,717. The following is his unedited witness statement from the MUFON database.
PA, August 10, 2009 - Orange Blob. MUFON Case # 18787.
As I was approaching the top of Hill Street in Jessup, just before the Stop sign at the Luppini Clock, as I looked up straight towards the Casey Highway as it merged with PA Route 247 and I noticed a decending Orange Ball heading toward the little league municipal ball park hidden om the residual storm clouds as it had poured earlier and was about to do so again.
The low lying clouds were up against this part of Moosic Mountain as the Orange Ball glowed through the gray dense fog type atomosphere decending like a parachute almost floating!
My first thought was an approaching plane going into the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre International Airport after clearing the Omni Guidance Tower atop Archbald's Salem Road [elev 2200']as the Orange Ball was too low [2000'] way under the normal approach elevation!
As it approached me from the East I awaited it to change direction to the South West and it never did!
It was then I realized this was something very different!
The clock was 9:14 PM Luppini time (only in Jessup, PA).
I traveled about 600' or so and pulled over as another car passed me as I was across an inspection station garage.
I got out of the car as it was decending toward the ball parks high tension power lines that cut through the top area of the three field park.
I could hear a electonic cracking noise like a mosqueto zapper uninterupted as it approach in the still quiet night!
A sliver in the clouds opened up as I now had a clear shot!
It was headed toward the tops of the high tension lines for sure!
I was now looking straight up under it as if it were an ultra-lite aircraft.
It was stepping downwardly by going forward and slightly upward in a jerking type motion about 50 feet and then dropping down at a steep slope very rappedly and then stopping.)Similar to a moutain climber decending a steep incline).
It was very very cautious and I believe aware of my presence. I observed this for about 8 to 10 downward steps now having decended to about 800' and still coming down!
I rushed back in the car to dig out a 35 mm camera in the box in the back set and tried to get a shot leaving the setting already set on the camer as I had no light to see by!
I missed the low point as it was already stepping back upwardly and I got one shot and rewound and then it down poured unbelieveably!
The clouds immediately closed up and I dove in the car all wet!
It first appeared about 1/2 the size of a car and then at its low point about the size of a car about 500' up in the air!
Multi colored as follows: 1) black nose, 2)then dark red behind that, 3) then orange behind that, 4) then bright white light behind that as it appeared to be a flattend ball mostly dark redish orange!
It made no noise with exception to the carckeling zapping and moved very slowly in a floating like motion!
I think that it was gathering the EMFs from the top of the high tension power line like maybe recharging itself!
Others last forth of July fire works ingroups of 4 and 5 reported a similar event before and after the display!
Over the past 40 years their have been many white blob sightings usually under 200'.
I felt as it it was alive and acted like an animal being feed from your back porch steps as it was so-so cautious and timmed as it knew enough not to contact the electrical high power lines in the fog like low lying rain clouds, but! needed to charge up or possibly die!
I only wish I had my binoculars as I could have really seened the detail at its lowest point [maybe 400'].
I went down the hill to the Convient Mart to see if the Police Men were there for their coffee but no one was around!
I then proceed to Frank's in Simpson for a late snack another place were some type of UFO seem to come and go up the Lackawanna River basin toward their head waters in Arart, PA their apparant area of interest when traveling through!
The total time of this sighting was about 5 minutes!

His story is remarkable, but not ridiculous...strange things happen all the time and people wont always report them for fear of ridicule...it's time to get past the judgment of what is or is not true...people don't usually lie just for the sake of lying...it's usually to sell something that the lying commences ...
I agree with "Saundra". His story is not ridiculous. I for one am happy someone actually told us a little about what they sensed and felt. I'm sure he probably held back a lot of things to tell, knowing most people would just write him off as crazy. This is yet another account of thinking and feeling that whatever it was knew it was being watched. Mind reading? Beings that use telepathy would certainly be more adapted to be able to do this. We humans can do this too, but are not taught to trust our senses enough to develop it or rely on. Like they know our thoughts and are certainly aware of us intently observing them. I would like to propose a theory, if we key our thoughts on "them" they will know/come? We may get what we think?
*This is also another account of high voltage power lines/electricity drawing them. Either they have an interest in this or recharging? Unknown life form/fallen angel or unknown craft with unknown beings?

Mind reading? Beings that use telepathy would certainly have come to rely upon their senses. We as humans do have telepathy abilities, but we seldom trust our senses enough to develop them higher or rely on them fully. In essence we use telepathy with each other all the time to some degree. We listen to each others words and base what someone says to some extent to what we also sense. We seem to be non-trusting of ourselves about our senses, like what we sense could be a lie/faulty? Maybe the person we are verbally communicating with is the liar or deceiver at times, fooling our senses. We even can get fooled wrongly from others speech of words, so why couldn't our telepathy also be deceived at times. Using both speech and telepathy we humans try to know to communicate with each other or know if we are being deceived. A lot of people want witnesses of UFOs to ex nor our senses. That is like throwing away part of our tools that help us to understand, should we throw away our eyes etc?
How strange an orange ball. My dad was sitting on his porch looking in the western sky in western md a couple of days ago, wasn't sure what night, but he said about 9pm he saw this orange round disk in the sky for just a couple of minutes and then it disappeared. He thought it was at first an airplane, but because of it being round and orange no way was this an aircraft. He did'nt say anything until we were sitting out tonight,8/23,pointing to the sky where he saw it. There is not even a satalite in that area of the sky. So I told him I would look up any sightings and wow found this. Was it the same , I don't know, but this is making me think more about ufo's
Minnie I live in S.L.C., UT. I see the orange/star like objects a lot. They do all sorts of maneuvers, fast to slow, hover, 90 degree turns without even slowing down. Disappear and reappear. They do zig zags, ascend and descend, make "U" turns and even abruptly reverse direction and fly straight back the other way!
***If you or anyone reading this post sees another Orange Ball or star like object disappear, if you should watch that area continuously. Most likely you will see it again as it takes off. It will light up again as it takes off. I have seen several of them stay near the same spot they disappeared at only to light up again as they take off. It maybe a few minutes to several minutes(20), just watch. They usually are not gone until you you see them really leave. Usually the ones I have seen stay about twenty minutes or less.
I'm no expert, none of us studying UFOs are either. Some people like to think they are, but the only real experts on UFOs are what's flying them.

What he saw was a plasma ball. These are typically witnessed along tectonically active fault lines, or in and around volcanoes. If there are more sightings in the days to come... brace yourselves.

It seems pretty clear to me that what the man saw was ball lightning, which is also supported by the fact that there was a rainstorm and no doubt atmospheric electrical activity.
This phenomena is not well understood (at all !). The best theory is that it is a ball of superconducting plasma ,created by high energy electrical discharges and supporting a large internal electric current. Understanding this is the key to understanding the workings of stars and also how to contain fusion reactions.

His feelings were just his thoughts. Its most likely a weather balloon experiment. Exagerated story.The colours are from the sky, reflecting of a transparent, soft, white material, which probably appeared to glow.

It's a sad when a bunch of people just post away telling us all what someone saw or did not see. Hey folks that know everything.....did your eyes personal witness the sighting first hand?
I prefer having the eye witness of an event tell me what they saw or describe it, not a bunch of Bozo's that was not even there.

Just ball "lightning". Years ago in Maine my brother and I saw several of them near power lines just before a thunderstorm.

two orange orbs in sky
I was out sitting my my pool and at first one orange orb appreared in the sky it moved was moving north and then a second orange orb appeared in the sky moving north.
The first one turned south and vanished, and the second kept going north right over my head. And just above me the light vanished. The light was 8-10 times larger than the light you see in the sky for planes and they were not blinking. They looked like little suns.

nufosmatic: Hi, The orange star like objects are often seen by me and friends over Salt Lake City too. As you said they look like miniature suns, that's a very good description. I've seen them move extremely fast to fairly slow. I have seen them do a lot of different maneuvers: Hover and disappear and reappear as they take off again, descend and ascend, curved to straight flight patterns, "U" turns, instantly reverse course straight back the other way without slowing down, 90 degrees turns without even a hint of slowing down either, serpentine and zig-zag. I also once saw one of them approach a jet at a head on angle then suddenly dip under the jet and come up behind the jet and stop and hover for 20 minutes. I've also seen them come in so fast that they streaked like a meteor then slow and do other maneuvers, one of them after slowing down leveled off and turned on a curve, stopped and hover at about 1500ft of the ground. They are all silent. People should just view the skies more!
I myself along with 3 other friends saw sometime very similar that night also, there was about 7 of us down by the Lackawanna River that night caming out, one of our friends had gotten a phone call and walked away from the noise to answer it, all a sudden we hear him yelling, what the hell is that?? Me and my one girlfriend walked over to see what he was jabbering about, and when we looked into the sky up river, we say 4 orange shaped spheres in the sky, we were stunnded literally, we called 2 more people over to look at this with us and when they came over the shined a flashlight up into the sky to try to locate it, that was it, they automatically disappered, it was like they realized that we were looking at it in awe, and got spooked by the light. Unfortunately those 2 did not get to see what we had saw, but we def. saw something, and it was the 3 of us who all saw the same thing, so i know for sure that i wasn't just seeing things....
june 11th 2010 around 11pm in scranton pa we saw an orange,red, and white object in the sky around 1500 ft from the ground doing a zig-zag manuer it was about 50 ft. from houses and flew in a zigzag motion towards me i called to my friend ann marie and she then saw it too.. it hovered over doing a zig zag motion for around 7 minutesthen did a complete u- turn started in the other direction and before i could get my friends binoculars it disappered into thin air. this happened in scranton pa towards walgreens. forgive me but i truly believe that this is more then just a coincidence. these "objects" are from beings not from this planets and i don't care what anyone else has to say. i know what i saw and noone can change my opinion. i desribe it as a miniture sun for the colors that came off of it. there is no way that what i saw was a plane...a plane is incabaple of such movement and giving off such colors..if anyone has simular stories my email is mamarica07@myspace.com thanks
