VALLEY CITY, OH - JAN. 15, 2009 - A wide blue beam of light with a brighter blue central beam seemed to connect the sky with the ground here today at 11 p.m., according to a resident.
The man said the light was about two miles from his home and "behind a forest of trees" where a portion of the sky "20 to 50 feet wide" lit up for about five seconds. He said at its center was a "brighter blue core" of light - similar to a laser beam - and then a wider, but lighter blue, "spectrum or outer core."
Valley City lies in unincorporated Liverpool Township, Medina County, at the intersection of state routes 252 and 303, with a population of less than 5,000.
"It connected the ground to the sky and was a straight beam of blue light. The power in my home flashed, went out fully two times, and then stuttered back to full power all within about thirty seconds."
The light was seen near the intersection of Neff Road and Route 252 (Columbia Road).
"I once saw the ray of light seconds after the power flickered. I saw it through my bay window and was nearly imposible to miss due to the brightness. It felt like more than light though. I was scared and had an increased heart rate during and after, but it was like the light had some type of force."
He said there were difference between regular weather phenomena and this experience.
"This blue beam was more powerful and stronger than anything I have seen. The only comparison would be lightning, just more focused in one beam and in one area or space for a much longer time.
"If I had to guess after factoring a general distance, sky light and clouds, I would say it was anywhere from 20 to 50 feet wide. I am just trying to relay how massive it was.
"There was like a main, brighter blue core almost like a laser beam. Then there was a lighter spectrum or outer core that streched about twice as wide as the core around it. It stretched from sky to ground and was not dimmer anywhere along the beam."

I seen the same light last night. The time to be more exact was closer to 11:40 pm as I had just looked at the clock. I live in Brunswick OH which is about 8 mile east of Valley City. I was walking past a west facing window in my home and noticed a bright light shinning through the blinds. Wondering what it was I moved the blinds aside enough to see a bright blue stream of light reaching from the ground to the sky. The light was only there for a few seconds as I had just enough time to call to my family but by the time they got to the window it was gone.
My friend and I(Copley) saw the Bright green light in the sky. We had no idea what it was! It was huge and bright and lasted about 5 sec. Maybe it might happen again tonight!
I saw the blue light in the sky at 11. I was pulling out of a parking lot, and then I saw a bright blue light flash through the sky. I turned around and there was a beam of light, so bright that my eyes starting watering, and my heart rate started pumping like crazy. I really don't know what to think anymore. It wasn't natural at all.

The energy of the thing was palpable and we were all dumbstruck.
We heard later from an ex-Indian Army officer, who lived about 3 miles away, that he and a family group had seen it too but nothing was reported in the media here at all. I reported the incident to a geologist called Harry Mason who researches these sorts of things.

Wednesday January 28th 2009 at about 6:30ish Our family saw a blue light in the sky close to the ground and it was really bright. it Flashed again and we had no idea of what it was.
i seen a light in brunswick that was on 303 near pearl. it was higher than the telephone poles. A very bright light that illuminated the entire street in pulses ...i was on 303 as about 6 other cars headed east as far down as the library ..this thing pulsated light and you could see the light coming down the street towards you and when it finally got to you it blinded me for seconds and it did this pulse action about 4 times.then a telephone pole started sparking from underneath this very bright light. It was like this thing was draining energy from the pole itself. I got back to the store and asked my fellow employee if the lights were flickering and he said yes..that even his mother called and said that their home lights were pulsing like what you see in horror movies. here is the strange thing though that sort of explained away for me that it was the pole itself. the freind of the employee i talked to said he was looking out the window completely facing away from this light source, and said it looks like it was the middle of the day...this being about 9:00 or so at night. they live on rosevelt , front of house facing towards valley city. i have seen light poles go down , sparking, flashing, etc.with live wires a few times in my life but, i to this day have never seen a light this bright where it lit everything like daylight and send pulses of light down the street, all the cars in front of me were freaked out too, for we all slowed down to a crawl watching this. they had to be getting blinded as i was in intervals. Hello Brian, Just a note to tell you about last week. On Friday, 11-21-08 at 3:30-3:45pm eastern. My wife and I were sitting in the living room and saw a bright flash. It was as if someone in the room took a picture with a flash, except the light came through and around the closed blinds on the south, east, and north of the room. We looked at each other and confirmed we both saw it, we heard no sounds, and I saw nothing or anyone anywhere.
Seems to coincide with some of the meteor reports you've had lately. But, being in West Virginia, we're quite a distance from those sightings.

hi i was in my friends house and me and 4 other ppl were sitin just taikin and all off a suddenly 'a blue flash light came in through the windo as if sum 1 was taken a picture the other ppl so this 2 but i seen a burst off light then a thin lazer beam light as well it happend in seconds but it looked as if it came down from the sky and went in 2 the floor in the house strange date 24 october 2010 at 10pm thats wen it happend
I'm commenting here after searching the internet after a blue-light phenomenon happened to me at about 8:30 this evening. I was on my out to pick up my girlfriend from work and there was a blizzard happening. I was driving very slowly at about 5 mph and a strange blue light appeared right over my car. I could not explain this light by anything other than a light-blue lightning bolt. It flashed above me and in around my car for about 5 seconds. There was no sound at all. The flashing was very chaotic. I instantly thought that there was something falling out of the sky and was headed directly at me. I stopped the car and actually prepared for an impact of what I quickly thought was either lightning or a crashing plane's light. I thought the latter because I live very close to an airport. As suddenly as the light appeared it had disappeared. I was fortunate enough to have a car about a tenth of a mile facing my direction at the time this happened. The driver verified the incident.
Last night approximately 6pm, a flash a blue light stretching sky to ground flashed, then about fifteen seconds later flashed again. i was driving with a friend who saw this too. This took place in western iowa so a nuclear reaction seems unlikely. it most certainly was not lightening as i am very familiar with all assortments of that.
Last night at around 10:45 PM, I was outside and my entire backyard lit up with this intense light blue light. It lasted about 5 seconds and was gone. There was no sound or pulsing, just an intense light. I was not the only one who saw it; my neighbor 2 doors down yelled "What the hell was that?" , then told whomever he was with to get inside. It was freaky.
I live in Mentor, Ohio by the way.
I searched the internet after i saw the exact same thing as described in this article at 7am this morning. I live on the outskirts of a small town in England called Burton on Trent. It was the weirdest thing I have ever seen

I've seen the blue light flash on about five different occasions near Akron,oh between 1995 and 2005. They always appeared as bright blue flashes illuminating the entire sky for a few seconds. Not to be confused with lightning arcs, which are white with a bluish hue, and more localized with a thundering afterward. These things happened independent of any storm, and made no sound. On one occasion during a late-night sledding adventure with a few friends, we all saw the blue light. This time I saw it as the beam of light mentioned in the article, stretching from ground to space without dissipating in a continuous column. It originated from beyond the woods, so was difficult to gauge the scale. My friend shawn saw the light as a bursting corona, like an outer sphere with an inner core. He had a better view since he was at thetop of the hill and i was near the bottom. We were amazed beyond comprehension, so I had to tell them about the other ones I had seen. It's about time that some kind of media can share these stories, I've been looking for other stories for some time.
