EDITOR'S NOTE, April 3, 2009 - STORY UPDATE
British resident Anthony Wharton has come forward as the creator of this material - a hoaxer - in his personal attempt at a social experiment to prove "that photographic evidence is not acceptable proof of UFO'S and that some people, including 'UFO experts' only see what they want to see." I will post a complete story soon on this event.

A video posted March 21, 2009, on Youtube claims to be the real deal of the Nov. 7, 2006, Chicago O'Hare Airport UFO sighting.
The video is posted with the headline - "Chicago O'Hare Airport UFO Witness Breaks His Silence." The username is ohareufowitness, age 39, someone who joined Youtube on the same day as the posting.
Illinois MUFON Director Sam Maranto, who has studied this case extensively, was able to watch the video from his Chicago area home today.
"The footage is shot at an impossible angle," Maranto said. "It was 1500' to 1900' above gate c-17, 200' - 400' below the solid overcast...too bright of backdrop...too big of an object. Unless this person was in the tower where it could not have been seen."

On the Youtube page, this person related the following story.
"I have sat on this evidence for over 2 years, mainly because of the nature of my background, if you knew who I was then you would understand.
"Back on November 7th 2006, I was near Chicago O'hare International airport when I was witness to what was arguably one of the most important UFO incidents in modern times. After the incident, many people jumped on the UFO bandwagon and came forward with false evidence, I can't speak for these individuals, I can only speak for myself.
"I witnessed a gigantic UFO hovering over the Airport at precisely 4:32 p.m. The UFO was a dark, hazy metallic disc/cigar shaped craft. It was at a height of roughly 750 feet from the ground, completely silent, frozen still, and was well over 100 meters in length. I managed to film the UFO on my cell phone for 1 minute, I observed the UFO for a further 1 minute, after which time it took off, and went upwards at tremendous speed and was gone.
"If you watch the clip properly, at the start of the clip you can clearly see a large passenger jet taking off, and flying directly under the UFO, which shows just how huge this thing was. The UFO was completely frozen still, and any movement on the video clip is camera movement and camera shake. I filmed the UFO on my cell phone with the zoom set to full.
"This is arguably one of the most important pieces of UFO photographic evidence in existence, and to ever be posted on the internet, simply because I know it was a genuine Unidentified Flying Object, and it was witnessed by many credible individuals, including pilots.
"Yes I would love to come forward and go public with my story, but this is just not an option for me, due to my job. So that is why I have posted the clip on You Tube. For those who don't want to believe the truth, thats up to you, but what you are seeing is genuine footage of an unknown craft, and shame on the worlds media for all the ridicule they threw at this unbelievable incident."
And defending himself March 24 from critics, the video photographer writes this.
"Ok, so I will answer some of the main questions directed at me. All I can say is that the footage is 100% real and genuine. The reason it's not great quality is because it's only 3 mega pixel cell phone footage, and yes we had zoom 2 years ago, and to say I filmed it of a screen is untrue and insane. The sound is crappy because I was at some distance from the aircraft, and cell phone's dont pick up much sound, they only have a tiny microphone for recording sound. The reason I only got one minute's worth of footage is because my cell phone's memory was full and? it stopped recording. Dont you think I would just pay somebody to create me a stunning piece of evidence if I really wanted to pull a hoax???? Think about it..........."

Very impressive, but I am still the kind of guy that has to see it myself in reality, not on film to make an honest deduction of it's authenticity, but that is not saying this is real or not real.
I remember this incident in 2006. What I found interesting was this was post 911. A period in time where airport security was heightened. Air marshals etc.
Now we have something obstructing the path of Jets in one of the busiest airports in the World and there is no investigation? Suddenly trusted pilots ones that we trust to fly jets can't be trusted in their judgment that this was not some goofy weather thing, not swamp gas.
More strange than the object seen was the lack luster public response.
Don't think I'll fly out of O'hare any time soon.
Monday March 23, 2009 I spotted two orange lights flashing back and forth in the sky on the East side of Lafayette Indiana between Dayton and Mulberry. The light were visable for about 20 seconds and then in a horizontal direction they left a trail of orange dots across the sky. Nothing ever fell to the ground and there was no sound or other colors. I was told that there were 2 fighter jets that flew over this same area within minutes after the sighting.
Without the identity of the witness his youtube clip is worthless. These things are easy to fake and it doesnt give much information. Cell phones take the worst pictures.
As Mike said, anonymous videos are useless. If this person isn't a hoaxster, I miss my guess. If he is genuine, he needs to get that data to a legitimate investigation outfit like MUFON, not Youtube.
Well, I was there. I saw it. This video IS NOT what I or ANYONE who was really there saw in the air that day. Anyone who ever came forward would get canned anyways. This is why "ufologists" get laughed at. They chase around every bs video and right off the bat say "but it could be real" & "best evidence yet".
There's two aspects about this video that makes it dubious to me.
The first is the lighting: the actual sky itself gets darker and darker the higher up you go, which is indicative of an evening time shoot, yet the clouds' luminosity is greatest atop the clouds, which is more indicative of a shoot closer to noony.
O'Hare supposedly took place around 4.30 pm, i.e., some time around sunset, so I'd expect the luminosity to be greatest on the underside of the clouds, thanks to the sun sinking below the horizon; I'd also expect the UFO's 'belly' to exhibit similar signs of undersided illumination; furthermore, I'd expect the lighting to be pitched much more towards the yellow-red end of the spectrum.
The second problem I have is with our 'benefactor' telling us his viewpoint was near O'Hare when the video was shot because, to me at least, it's quite clearly been taken from something like a plane or a helicopter, (or another UFO!), going by the proximity, elevation and movements of the surrounding clouds, (especially those in the bottom right corner), which convinces me this was shot from a position above those clouds.
Such a very high elevation for the shot'd also explain why the clouds exhibit midday illumination but the upper sky is dark - the darkness is Space!
Even something as simple as moving the shot to include something in the background, foreground, anything, any frame of reference would have done. If it's genuine would have gone a long way to establishing some credibility. As it is, it's absolutely worthless.
Maybe the people who say this is NOT what they saw just happended to see it at a different angle? This story makes me want to watch Ghostbusters again. I'm a big Dan Akyroyd fan... who has stated (I believe) that he has video of the Chicago UFO. I wonder...
Dear UFO Witness,
I can understand why you haven't come forward. I never did at the time. A friend and I had a daylight sighting of two saucer shaped craft and this was 1962, But I had my life to do.
It was the O'Hare case that made me start my own blog because I notice how the media on both sides of this issue attacked the witnesses at this airport. I said to myself good God these were professional people...think about the all the others who go through this. So I started to advocate for respect for these witnesses. When I looked back and saw how police officers, military people, scientist were all destroyed by this attitude I knew I should do something.
I would ask you to think about coming forward for there sake.
MUFON rep claimed what you filmed was impossible. This type of knee jerk attacking of the witness goes on a great deal, in the Media, and sad to say, with some of the UFO researcher. If you come forward because of this reaction in may be a small step in stopping shot and ask questions attitude we see so prevalent in the media and even from those who claim to believe.
I have no right in the world to ask you to do this, other than one person plead directed at your fellow travelers

Wasn't it completely overcast that day ? So why do I see some blue in the sky ?
Hi I am insane, psychotic and paranoid, but from my viewpoint here on the Big Island, this video Must be genuine or it wouldnt be on the net.
Aloha and now I will go help some more ill people to drop dead and waste money.
My husband and I were both flight attendants and it was about 11 pm. PST when all of a sudden our plane lurched and took a sudden dive. We grabbed the cart and locked the brakes holding on. We went up to the cockpit and the pilots were freaked out. They said that a black flying saucer was headed right for us and they couldn't figure out how it missed hitting the planes tail. We were on our way to Seatle from the east coast and a little over midway when the incident occured. For the rest of our 4 day trip they kept commenting on it. This was about 16 yrs. ago and just so you know, pilots weren't open about this stuff and wouldn't readily speak about it even to the crew so this was very realistic. When the plane lurched we knew as very experienced flight attendants with more than 15 yrs. on the job, that it was a near miss of some sort and we can tell when pilots are freaked out! Several months ago, my husband was flying and the pilots said their windshield was glowing green and they looked and saw a green ball come right for them, hit the windshield and the green sparkled and then disapeared. They reported the incident to the FAA.
This is obviously a fake. Please you dumb hoaxers, this subject gets enough ridicule without you idiots faking photos, videos and other stuff. This is the kind of thing that makes a segment of the population consider those who believe there is actually something to this phenomenon as utter fools.
Unfortunately I must side with the consensus. This is likely a hoax. In my opinion, if I would have seen the object and captured the footage on my cellphone, I would come forward and identify myself. There is no job that is above the curiosity that this "actual footage" could provide.
SO.. by not coming forward and making this long statement on youtube it only fuels speculation that its fake.

This video is a plant to discredit the real event. Keep your cameras pointed to the sky ladies and gentlemen!
Video CANNOT be verified to be at that paticular location. Dis information, clouds the reality of some really good instances, with truly credible people. I would ask that all who report such things, realize the true inplications are the most important when trying to verify to the whole world, that we are truly not alone..since our own government refuses to be forthcoming with what they know, it is up to the smartest people in the private sectors to bring undeniable truth before the whole world. that truth is there! just be QUICK enough to relize what you thought you might have seen. they move faster than anything you have ever known!
From what I see, the sky conditions on this clip do not match with all the reports at the time of the sighting.
I have been a UFOlogist for over 40 years. I have taken an untold amount of pictures most all exclusively at night. I stopped taking pictures many years ago. These photos turned out to be worthless. Actually I think one could make a fake UFO look more real that the real thing. One piece of advice for the UFO hobbyists out there. In forty years I reported just one sighting to the authorities which brought about endless ridicule for me. Another major sight I had in the mid 80's I was the authority that the UFO was reported to as I was a public safety officer. No matter what scientists or UFO buffs may say, this planet is not ready to handle extraterrestrials existance. C'mon people, What planet have you been living on?! Expose extraterrestrials to the masses? My findings are shared with family and people that I know have been actually involved in some capacity with UFO's. If you get concrete proof, keep it to yourself.

You should be gratefull this guy sent you this I would not even tell anyone let alone a goverment funded ufo group that is as trust worthy as a politician.
Seems to me that even in the event of a bunch of grays landing on the white house lawn , exiting a craft and wondering around for the cameras to get everything even that would somehow be discredited or spoofed in order to make the event a non-event . Basicly the footage above seems REAL especially when we see the jet taking off in perspective .

The person who captured the footage was in the Tower. There are many reasons why it has taken him two years to release it, one of which is the process of overcoming the mental "fog" experienced through proximity to the event. The reason that these incidents are so sensitive is due to what they tell us about the very nature of ourselves. Let's just say that we'd start taking much greater care of our environment if we knew how we really "worked."
what do you mean "how we really work"? I saw somethin when I was about 16. I was with my best friend and his mom. we stopped in the middle of the road and got out of the car. I cant really remember what happened. i dont remember it leaving at all. I just remember seeing something hovering really still over the edge of a field probably 150 -300 feet about the trees. It looked like sparks were pouring out of the bottom of it. i thought it was a firework at first but it just styaed there. I dont remember if i got out of the car. I guess it could have been anything I dont know. I just cant think of a legit explanation.
The question at hand is this, WHO say's that people cannot handle proof of existance. We have been living in a world that could be blown to bit's by the super power countries such as the US and Russia. Knowing that governments have the power to destroy us all, how could you possibly believe it to be better to bury proof of another race, not of our planet. I find myself more affraid of man and his agressions, than I would a higher intelligence being. Ridicule of the truth has been man's motto for all of history. Just keep this in mind, "the earth is the center of the universe" and "because it is flat we could all sail off of it." And please do not keep underestimating people who can handle it, like ME.
This has nothing to do with people on other planets. The reason for secrecy has far more to do with inner space. Jacques Vallee was soooo close to the truth... It has its own built in secrecy feedback cycle. It's about who we really are... about us... inner space not "outer" space. If that doesn't make sense, then that's why the truth isn't known. It will be known when humanity can understand the blatant truth that these phenomena are shouting in its face. But so many keep looking in all the wrong places. It's tragic.

Say the hoaxer's grandfather just died. If we rent a hearst, buy a tombstone, and send an obituary to a newspaper and photograph the tombstone and hearst then according to the hoaxer this would be proof (when the pictures turn on to be staged)that his grandfather was still alive
I don't believe in little green men....but I do believe that the airport witnesses were not lying about what they saw...why bother to make something like this up..it will ruin their careers.
I saw it a month before the airport personell saw it. I was flying in from Portland in aug 07 and I saw it out of my window during our approach. It was smooth metalic and M&M shaped. Maybe 200 feet wide.I told my wife and she thought i was crazy until we saw the news a month later.

So what is with all the video suddenly dissapearing? I personally saw the footage the week it happened,...now NOTHING! Every link I click to see the video it says it has been removed by the author,...(I.E. the government?) What is going on? This is the same phenominon that has happened with flight 93. I personally saw a video of the plane being intercepted in mid air right after it happened. Now,...you can't find that footage to save your life. I imagin this post will dissapear just as quickly
