Two security officers standing along Spokane Avenue in Troy, Montana, watched a silent rectangular-shaped UFO crossing the sky on August 10, 2009, according to witness testimony from the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) database.
The object was described as "a large/huge rectangle shaped object (reminded me of a gigantic gum eraser) with 1-2 constant white lights towards the front & one rotating/blinking(not sure which)red light towards the rear."
Total observation time was 5 to 10 minutes before the object disappeared over a mountain range.
Troy is a city in Lincoln County, northwest Montana, population 957.
The following is the unedited witness testimony from the MUFON database. Please keep in mind that most UFO reports can be explained as something natural or manmade. If Montana MUFON State Director Augustine Fawkes investigates and reports back on this case, I will update this page.
MT, August 10, 2009 - Saw large rectangular shape with 1-2 constant white light in front & one rotating/blinking red light towards the rear. MUFON Case # 18834.
I was a security officer waiting for my relief to show up at 2345 hours, in Troy, Mt. on August 10, 2009. While waiting for him I looked skyward & saw this object moving left to right across the sky North-South?
About this time my relief arrived & I pointed this object out to him. He claims to have seen UFO's before & when he saw this object he went running down the street to tell two other security officers watching another site. I don't believe the other two security officers witnessed this event, but we did.
It was a large/huge rectangle shaped object (reminded me of a gigantic gum eraser) with 1-2 constant white lights towards the front & one rotating/blinking(not sure which)red light towards the rear. Absolutely no noise & stayed at a constant speed. It was probably in view for 5-10 minutes & then disappeared over a mountain range.
The sky was clear & starlit. It appeared to be between the North star & our observation. We were standing on Spokane Avenue in the middle of the city of Troy, Mt.
Never having observed a "UFO" before I can't tell you what it was, but it WASN'T an airplane and didn't see any wings! My initial reaction was "gee, look at that" The following days up to today I'm starting to get more excited. I'm more of a maybe there is-maybe there isn't type of person. Any craft with flashing red lights are terrestrial craft. Do not assume Aliens have retrofitted their spacecraft with beacon lights to comply with FAA regulations.
Funny thing tho, hamm, why don't ET's attempt dress up their craft in normal aircraft running lights? This way, they cannot be confused with normal craft. Perhaps their military, earth-bound viewers need to tell the difference for security reasons. At any rate, I've not a seen a report where the lights are faked, so I'm going to assume they want their craft to be seen. And if they want to be seen, are they secure in not getting caught? Just postulating without really knowing...
Aircraft lights and why they are colored and positioned on all our aircraft. Most people just don’t know this, so how can they correctly identify our aircraft verses a UFO?
Basic knowledge of every pilot, why they have to know this and why the lights are placed on every aircraft in certain placement and color.
***A red light is located on the left wing tip, a green light is located on the right wing tip and a white light is located on the tail.
*If the pilot observes a green light to his right and red light to his left then other aircraft is moving away from his position.
*If the pilot observes a red light to his right and a green light to his left, the other plane is approaching the pilot's position.
*If the pilot sees only a green light, then the other aircraft is moving left to right in relation to the pilot's position.
*If the pilot sees only a red light, then the aircraft is moving right to left in relation to the pilot's position.

It seems obvious to me that extraterrestrials are purposely trying to not be detected by humans. They are probably complying with the military and/or intelligence community's request because it would alarm the public. Aliens trying not to get detected would be as easy as 2 major leaguer baseball players playing keepaway from a little leaguer.
Hundreds of people have come forward with the truth but the public chooses not to believe them. So, the public will know about aliens when the aliens want us to know about them.

screenerobin & hammster thanks for the post :) . I have posted aircraft position lighting as set by the FAA basic standards and a brief reasoning. I had to shorten the total descriptions. Also a pilot or ground observer can also see the white light on the tail with the normal side markers red/green lights. Also it should be noted that these red/green lights can be positioned on the correct sides of the fuselage too. They can also blink or strobe. The point of the lighting pattern is to help other pilots quickly recognize the direction of flight the other aircraft are moving in relation to there position.
It is also my experience in observing the skies a lot and seeing UFOs.... they do at times mimic our own aircraft lighting to the correct detail and or very similarly. Also if you study the reports you will find others have also noticed this too. UFOs are very sneaky at times. They can easily fool the trained observers at times. "Hammster "one rotating/blinking red light towards the rear." doesn't confirm that it is a terrestrial craft or not. If the lighting pattern's different than ours that can be a dead give away, but not necessarily. Also the absence of a correct light doesn't mean it's a UFO either. The aircraft light could have simply burned out! Even in our cars we do have an occasional tail light etc burn out. My best advise is to watch for abnormal lighting, if it is different pay very close attention to that craft until you can correctly identify it or it gives it self away. Does it have the ability to hover, disappear/reappear, stop instantly make turns or directional changes abruptly without even slowing down, move too slowly or too rapidly, silent, how visible is the craft? Body shape? Odd color lights, blue is not a normal aircraft lighting color, nor is yellow, orange, purple etc. Common sense combined with some basic knowledge of aircraft lighting and flight characteristics can go a long way.
There have been 2 or 3 sightings of huge rectangles recently - a very uncommon shape.Also more cigars and cylinders than usual.
The objects which drop glowing balls are back too.
Sightings of groups of objects are up as well.All these are usally in the minority - it's usually triangles or discs or spheres.
I haven't got any explanations for this, but I feel tempted to start trawling through the reports this year looking for patterns and correspondences.That might reveal something.
Hammster I have see many UFOs. I'm also an Ex-Marine...Air Wing Division, I have been in and around classified aircraft. UFOs are classified and not even open for discussion, it's top secret. UFOs can out fly out maneuver our best stuff so well that they make ours look like toys!
Yes I know there are a lot of hoaxers and debunkers etc. My posts are not to take away from others sightings. I'm trying to help everyone spot the real thing and not get fooled. At times we see things and dismiss it as just a normal aircraft and it may not be too!
Yes it is extremely sad that many of the public want to denied the existence of UFOs just because our government will not come out openly with this subject. They are like sheep/cattle, they can't truly think own their own. I for one don't need government or anyone else to confirm what I have seen in order to believe my own sense organs, mind etc.

CH - no I haven't seen anything.To tell the truth it's highly unlikely that I ever will, on account of being resident in the UK.
A triangle nearly collided with an airliner at Manchester airport about 10 years ago and there are a few vague glowing light things (and squadrons of chinese lanterns) but not much else.
My point was that surveying the sightings for the last few months could reveal some pattern or behaviour the ufos have omitted to conceal, or something noone has noticed before.
Going through all the cases could take me a while, but it seems worth the effort, especially when the only strange flying object I've seen recently was an owl in next door's sycamore!
Top sighting (not personal) for me was 1986 Japan Airline sighting. Pilot had 29 years flight experience. This video has the actual audio transmissions, confirmed sighting of UFO on military radar, deviation of flight path to get out of danger, US military jet confirmation of same object 2 months later over same airspace, and FAA Chief of Investigations admission that CIA and NSA confiscated all flight data and covered up the entire incident.
No doubt in my mind this was 3 alien spacecraft that were showing off a little of what they could do.

I've just done a quick survey of the last 8 weeks' sightings on this site.Rectangle sightings are fairly even , and the objects themselves always very big.
It's the orange lights that caught my attention: multiple light sightings are usually orange: lights that drop other lights then disappear are usually orange or red;but most significantly orange lights are seen low down more often and are almost always spherical/egg shaped.There was a peak of these last week in July.Check it out, never mind the triangles, spheres are always orange and seen low down more often than anything else.
There seem to be more multiple-object sightings of orange lights than other colours too.Orange lights seem to have the most uniform shape ascribed to them and the most distinct behaviour pattern.No fancy lightshows or shapechanging either.
Of all possible permutations of shape, colour and behaviour this is the most clearly defined apart from the triangles.Orange=sphere=close!!
Bigfoot73: Hi I just read your last post here about your survey. I had my first Orange/star like object sighting, year of 1968 in Tennessee. I have seen so many this year over Salt Lake City, Utah. I have seen them as low as 1,500 feet to extremely high up. I have seen them perform all sorts of maneuvers that our aircraft simply do not do. Two of the most impressive things I have seen them do are: (1) Make a 90 degree turns without even the slightest hint of slowing down. I estimated the craft to be going about 800 miles per hour based on our aircraft. Just a calculated guess on the speed. (2) The most impressive was when one of them actually instantly reversed course straight back in the opposite direction! It didn't even slow down! It was going about the speed of a normal jet when I saw it do this. My friend and I both saw it do this. We were both watching it with 10x50 binoculars. He was arguing with me about it being a UFO until it did that maneuver! It was his first sighting. :)
CH:- going back the way it came without slowing down is just about the most radical move I've ever heard of!
By low I meant a few hundred feet down to ground level.I didn't find any reports of spheres which weren't orange. They seem to be different from the other ufos.There was a definite peak of orange sphere sightings end of July.
So as well as low flying and dropping lights, they pull off the strangest manouevres!
If we have different craft with different behaviours, who's to say their occupants don't have differing characters and motivations?
The dropping of smaller objects is redolent of the sightings during the 1783 'meteor shower' over England (yes, I have to go that far back for a half-way decent British UFO flap)!

I also have the show on DVD about the Japanese pilot over or near Alaska in 1986. A huge (twice the size of an American Aircraft carrier)walnut shell shaped craft and two smaller ones.
I personally know UFOs truly exist, personally! I'm no stranger to seeing them. My first sighting was in 1967 in Tennessee. 4 sightings one by it's self the others in groups of 3. Currently I live in Utah, this year I have seen a staggering amount of UFOs. I have witnesses and photos. One even hovered long enough to view with my telescope. I used a 6mm lens power to view the UFO, with that power I can easily see the rings of Saturn. My neighbor, my nephew and I were all present. UFO distance 9 miles by Google map.
Bigfoot73: Hi! In 1783 was a half-way decent British UFO flap. So your due for one any time! You just never know! The Orange/star like UFOs I have had personal in counters with.
I have seen 3 lone triangles and a group of 15-17 smaller ones. I sensed a different presence from them. I don't feel they are the same species. I don't feel safe around triangle craft. Six days after this sighting, I started to see lots of orange star like objects. I felt they were patrolling the area to keep the triangles away! I know it sounds spooky, but that's what I got mentally. The triangles were quick and short sightings, with an ominous feeling about them. I don't like them. I kind of feel the Orange/Star like objects are protecting us in some sort of capacity. The orange/star like ones are all the same size as far as I can tell. About a quarter or more the size of a normal passenger jet. Mentally I seem to know when and where they will be around. Again I know that sounds spooky to everyday people.
About those orange sphere sightings in the last week of July 09...I was one of those lucky spotters...It had been dark for awhile and I was resting on the couch talking with my oldest son, when my eyes caught a large bright sphere coming directly towards out house then it did that 90 degree straight up thing, it all happened so fast, I leap off the couch (no small task for me) and ran outside to try to see it again...nothing, the sky was overcast and I couldn't even see the stars...but the speed, color, brilliant orange and seemingly impossible maneuvers I just knew it was being directed or manned by intelligence...otherwise, it would have slammed into our house...these past couple of months have been the most active I have ever known...loving it

Triangles of the type tr3b, belgium, idaho hunters, illinois police..etc, from the side at low elevation are rectangular and can appear as cigars with bright lighting. They can be one and the same. I know.
There is a military aircraft that frequents this area. It is rectangular and has no visable wings. I do have pic in my camera.....
As the rectangular shaped UFO flies over our heads, its light as white, bright, and pure as I've ever seen. I thought we were going to be incinerated by extreme heat, but felt none at all. The particles pushed against my skin almost like a wind vibration that was more direct and felt like invisible fingers pushing around and down against my skin. But yet the ground, the dirt below our feet seemed unscathed by the beam.
I remember back to science class, they always taught you white stars and heat were the hottest. Associating that with the vessel shooting over the tree line and unfinished hardware building thinking the white light is ready to incinerate my flesh.
Shocked and frozen in panic, I couldn't move, and didn't move one inch. The white light radiating under the ship's belly engulfed my body. Looking down expecting to see my skin go up in flames and to feel extreme heat but looked down only to see my skin moving like wind fingers pushing against it, hardly feeling any temperature change in the atmosphere at all.
When my skin didn't go up in flames, I gazed up into the light which covered the entire undercarriage of the vessel. Surprisingly it didn't blind me, but I couldn't really make anything out pass the precise and executing light. Radiating From the ship to the ground surface. A low humming noise came from the vehicle.
Yes there was a red beacon, pulsating. From the rear of the craft, it's a gray ship. The Being on this ship is God. The red light is simple, "We created light and blood". A few pointers as to why it's not a government craft, it's been seen for the last decade with the Germany photo 2006, my experience was in 1998. Of the identical ship seen in the Germany photo - taken on my birthday. Out of all the other photos this is the only one that's real. There's a lot going on here, but I will brief this forum with this information. Very few sightings of this ship I'm lead to believe this forum is new. I was with a witness as in my account "Luke" but he passed away. Also I'd like to point out in the Germany picture the white light wasn't coming from the bottom. As far as my encounter my contact I never realized it until 12 years later. I was aware of the incident and shared it on few occasions but it never had meaning until what had to be around the same time of summer 12 years later.
