EUCLID, OHIO - MARCH 12, 2010 - Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) Field Investigator Tom Wertman is here on the beach overlooking Lake Erie watching the skies for the Bright Light UFO that has been reported at this location for the past nine days.
The object was reported by Eugene Erlikh, 20, of Euclid, as appearing in the night sky usually between 7 and 9 p.m.
Wertman was reached by cell phone from the beach area where he had set up camp to observe the sky.
"Right now the most open sky is to our south," he reported, "and looking out over the lake there are a few broken patches to see the stars. The holes in the sky are about the size of your fist."
He reports first seeing something unusual at 7:15 p.m. "about two fingers or 5 degrees above the horizon."
He said a bright, orange-white light appeared as a stationary object, then moved from the northeast to the southwest, and disappeared from view a few minutes later.
The object, he reports, had a beam of light in front of it, "like an aircraft would have going through cloud cover. This made me think that it might be an aircraft."
Wertman said he was on the telephone with Erlikh at the same time this object appeared at 7:15 p.m. Erlikh was at his high rise apartment just a short walking distance from where Wertman was standing.
"The witness said to me, 'Look, there it is.' So I am sure we were looking at the same object."
Wertman said with the time and location now verified, radar reports can be checked out to see if there was any known air traffic there at the time.
At 7:35 p.m. the object appeared again at "287 degrees northwest for 6 minutes, "Wertman said.
"I saw an object hovering out there, orange-white in color again, which started very bright, but it decreased in intensity - but staying the same color."
Wertman said the object was smaller than the size of a pea held at arm's length.
At 7:43 p.m., the object appeared again, although Wertman is considering that cloud cover may have just obscured his view of the object between these two sightings.
"But at 7:43 p.m. it popped back out again," he said. "You could still see the same small orb, with now a secondary orb next to it. Kind of like orange-white-ish again."
Just after 8 p.m., Wertman said he was able to see "something very faint, like the head of a pin, pop in, and pop out."
So what exactly is this object?
Wertman says it's too soon to make a judgment. More evidence has to be reviewed.
He says the movement of the first sighting "was way too quick" for conventional aircraft.
"It went from 10 degrees to 290 degrees and disappeared in a matter of just a few minutes," Wertman said.
He said that during the second sighting, the object was "too stationary for too long. It didn't act like a normal aircraft. If it was making a loop turn and heading back to the airport, the landing light would be getting brighter, not dimmer. And if it was moving away, wouldn't the light we were seeing be facing the other direction?"
Wertman has made arrangements with Erlikh to gain access to the original video that has been shot so that an analysis can be made. Wertman says he expects to file a MUFON report in the morning as he is now officially a witness to this ongoing event.
Further investigation, he said, will continue, and he hopes to be able to offer something conclusive later in the week - even if that means marking this case an an "unknown." When MUFON marks a case an an unknown, that simply means that they have ruled out natural or manmade possibilities.
Wertman hopes to be able to return to the same area for another sky watch on Saturday night.
The UFO Examiner will be following this case throughout the week. Check back for updated stories. Special thanks to Ohio MUFON State Director William Jones, State Section Director Connie McNichols, Field Investigator Tom Wertman, and the entire Ohio MUFON team for their cooperation and assistance with coverage.

Nine days is a lot. I don't expect much more of this. I'm usually lucky if it's 6 in a row.
If it's ET's time is either up or running out. Mark my words.
Yeah I know, what crazy fool can know that etc.
Why dont they turn up and fill the sky like a triangle jigsaw? Now that would be unmissable. Watching the government and skeptics squirm, would be neat. But then i woke up.
CH can you clarify your statement of time if either up or running out???
Approximately 8:45 PM, March 12, 2010 our family watched multiple bright fire-orange lights just above the horizon. Noticed from inside, went out and observed until they changed formation from a straight horizonal line at one time with a vertical line below the horizonal line. The lights changed to one or many in a cluster as though an angle change. Lasted several minutes, faded out, returned again later but not again in the intial formation.
Did anyone else see this? Would like to know what it was. Alabama
Sky,
Okay what I mean by time is up, they will stop coming to this same location repeatedly & or near the same time frame. * The Orange lit ones are on Patrol, they may repeat the same path & time for a few days, that is all. They can't effectively patrol if they are too predictable. Think of it exactly as guard duty.
Time is Running out, meaning if it continues to happen don't plan on it happening much longer.
They are mind readers, they know as we all think. Some peoples thoughts standout over others & reach out farther. Others are short range. It depends on peoples ability to send & receive thoughts. Imagine flying over a populated city of humans. Since they are a race of beings that communicate by a form of telepathy. They are sensitive to thought waves of most beings, including humans. Just by flying over one human city, they will know mostly how this group thinks & feels. If someone is out watching them & their thoughts standout, they will key right on them.

I can't believe that the people who are all out there gazing at the skies over the lake have'nt thought to prepare themselves for what they might see.
Cell phone photos of a little blur in the nighgt sky or a shaky hand held camera trying to zoom and focus are really pretty lame You Tube stuff.
Get serious people, if this is a predicatable event, get some high tech professional camera ecq on it!
They had a MUFON observer on it last night and he didn't bring a decent camera?!!!! According to the story, the 'lights' have been visable for minutes at a time, long enough to get a big telephoto lense set up on a tripod focused on them. I would think some one would have at least thought to borrow some kids $9.00 science project telescope to check it out....AAAARRRRRRGh stupid humans.
Art Newell...... I agree with you!
Tom Wertman has changed his story and claims these are aircraft flying into Chicago.
Got something to say?
