SARATOGA SPRINGS, NY - FEB. 19, 2009 - A brilliant flash lit up the sky three times here last evening, according to witnesses, then it happened again four hours later. Following is the unedited witness report from friends Jonah and Josh.
Last night at around midnight, our power dimmed, and a brilliant orange flash lit up the whole sky. This happened about 3 times within the next 2 minutes, during which the color shifted to a greener color. Then 4 hours later it happened again, only this time appeared to be moving down our street. The light, as described from a fellow New Yorker in rochester, seemed to connect the sky to the ground. About 6 other people on my street have seen it, and two other people i know of about a half mile away saw it.
the first lights were around 11, they seemed to fill up the whole sky completely, but it was eerie, because it was not just the sky but also around the house. My computer dimmed, and the clock turned off. Those first few began as a pink color, and then shifted to a greener color. The light did not seem to be beaming down, but rather horizontally. Another interesting thing, was that it was very centralized to our street. I have 3 witnesses, from about a half mile away saying they saw the light, but in the distance rather then surrounding them. Then, at 4 in the morning, the lights happened again, and this time for a bit of a longer time, and turning again the pinkish color, then changing to a green. I misspoke about the moving light, i only meant that it seemed to be coming off from some place further up the street. It seemed a bit brighter in this direction.
A couple other interesting points were:
1. A policeman who lives on a perpendicular street, drove to our street and watched, then drove back home. This doesn't seem interesting except for to say that this story was not in the news, and the newspapers i called hadn't heard anything about it.
2. A few of my friends from areas roughly 20 miles away told me that they did not see a light, but there power went completely off. Its very possible that they're power outage was just a coincidence and did not have much to do with the events in our neighborhood, but i thought i should add it anyway.
To be quite honest, I'm not sure that it looked like a space craft might (then again how many have i seen?) but i felt i should write to you due to the fact that several of the sightings in your article are New York based, and recent.

Not be surprised. there is a US Navy nuclear reactor test facility in Ballston Spa and another one in Schenectady not too far away. They develop and test new types of reactors for the Navy. UFO sightings are linked to high technology military installations. I've been to both and know what goes on there.

at our place we are within one km of a power substation distrubution point, one time a car crashed into some powerlines or something similiar, effecting the substation and the sky lit up green and white, big flashes lighting up the sky. also strange grinding noises. the power dimmed and went out one of the times. sounds like what is happening, some sort of power disruption or overload problem causing it to flash up the sky. it has happened a few times.
hey, I just wanted to say that I saw a strange object as well on Feb. 20, around 8:00 PM. It was a very bright light and was quite a distance away. At first I thought it was a star that may have exploded, maybe something like a nova but very far away. I came out a bit later and found that it was not only fading away but was moving west. I had thought that it may be a comet but there was, of course, no tail. I just wanted to post this and see if anyone else may have seen something. I'm in Paterson, NJ.
I was taking out the trash around 1:30am when the entire sky flashed bright green 3 times. I was curious so I did some googling in hopes to find some more information about the phenomenon. It seems that I'm not the only one who saw this. Did anyone else in Hernando County, FL see these lights.
Also, last night I saw something similar to what minikin described... I would not have known that the object was moving if I didn't have a treeline to gauge its speed.
I am in Los Angeles, CA. At around 7:45pm, on March 10th, I saw a greenish light flashed in the eastern sky as I was driving towards it. It did not seem like lightning, the source of the flash seems to be rather low.
However, I couldn't find any information on it so far.
Night of March 29, 2009 . saw a brilliant flash
of light over Cape Ann Massachusetts, followed by a boom. Though tit was lightning/thunder
but was not raining and no other thunderstorm activity .
At about midnight to 1:00 i seen a bright flashed light in the sky from my backyard. Some of my family members seen it too. After It flashed we looked in the sky and the placed it flashed there was no any stars present. My eyes watered after the flash and my hair stood up.
In Chandler, Arizona with my parents and neighbors we all witnessed a bright flash into the sky lasting 1-2 seconds glowing the night time sky. Then realizing the light I looked up and saw a sphere object going vertically up into the sky, surrounding that was yellow/orange colors of energy then waving within this comet like tail of bright light within 2 seconds of my viewing. Right after that it disappeared with a even stronger bright flash of white light shooting away from the center horizontal

i seen the same thing in texas a couple months back i was coming home one night around 12 also and i saw the same green light twards a refineary near the freeway
Me and 2 friends just witnessed 3...what i would call orbs of orange light. it was 9pm in Mn. They formed a triangle and then a straight line and then another triangle. I got a picture on my cell but its so small only i can tell what it is. I need to know who i should contact to find out what this was......any suggestions?

on saturday, sept 19. I was walking with my family to queens blvd (in queens, ny) . as walked in the night, we saw a light in the sky. it was amazing, it was a white light. as if there was a flashlight pointing down toward earth. what ever it was, was amazing. it seemed to be either just fading away or as if it went directly into space.
anyone has any idea ??

Ok last night at about 1:40 am me and 2 friends were walking to my car when we saw this bright light that lit up the sky..it appeared small at first with a bright white light in the middle..then it started changing colors from purple to blue to green to turquoise and then disappeared 30 to 45 seconds later. Honestly this was the craziest thing i have ever seen..His other friend that lives a couple miles away said he saw it to and at the same time his electricity went out for a minute. I thought i would hear about it online or in the news but wasnt able to find anything.
another cause could be reflection off of satilites it happens more often then u think i have actually seen it before sounds alot like this where the solar panels reflect the suns lift back to earth at night lighting up the sky or as small as a street depending on the angle of the panels
Google taking pics from space with a flash? Nah google do that stuff in the day time, I've seen a white light flying over my house, it seemed to slow down then speed back up, it was travelling at around 2.000ft. No tail lights, no engine noise, just a white light, it travelled west towards england. But then disappeared. Me and my girlfriend both seen this one tonight, it happened at 9:45pm 28,8.2010. This will be the fourth one I've seen now, all on clear nights and always dead Quite. Strange but very true!
A while back I was with my mom, little brother, my aunt and cousin. I live in Washington state about 30 minutes south of Seattle. We were about to leave my aunts house at about 9pm, and I saw a flash out of the corner of my eye. Thinking it was lightning, I turned to look at where the flash came from them BAM the whole section of sky flashed a bright green, then a bright blue, followed by a bring pink color. Nothing in the news at all about it, you'd think shit like that would be.
Holy Crap. The same thing happend to me tonight. I live in Washington also. Spokane area. it was alomost 9:00 come to thing of it. A bright green light filled the whole sky as far as I could see, then blue then pink. then everything went dark again. then it happend again. did you ever find what it was??!!!

On clements ferry rd in charleston SC. as me and my boyfriend was coming back from dinner. all of a sudden a light before us came about. it looked like a tail of a coment. it tail was so green and long and moved so fast agaisnt the horzion of the trees. it was like nothing i have ever seen before. then out of nowhere planes started going that way and it wasnt travers............. something was going on around here out in the middle of nowhere makes u wonder what was that? Well the Ballston Lake and Ballston Spa area are very special when it comes to "ufos." The lights are alive fellas - United States air force better get used to seeing a lot more of them in 2011.
This happened to me just over 3 years ago, on the beach at Pictured Rocks UP Michigan. This seems to pretty much rule out the "US Navy nuclear reactor test facility" theory.
I saw the same thing last night in SoCal @ 6:30, or around right before the sun started to come up. Happened about three times pretty fast. Started from the center, and moved out like an explosion. Its overcast here, so I thought it was lightning. But the fact that this is happening all over is strange. Maybe some crazy solar flare or something.
. i was driving down ocean ave in long beach Califonia to drop off some of my drunk friends. as i was driving i saw the sky flash green. at first i thought it was lightning, but then again lightning is not green. then it flash again but this time it was pink, it continue for another 4 times changing from green to pink to orange. i was really excited to witness such a cool light show but at the same time i was really scared because i did not know what the hell was happening. i know a lot of people have seen the same things apperently all around the nation. i just wish someone knew what it was.
I'm in missoula, Mt and at 10 12 pm tonight there was a large power outage a of the entire city and 3 surrounding towns and the news reported that it was from wind, yet another report said that the national weather service was investigating it and had found no weather problems to have caused it. Also, the news just reported that the wind in my town is only 15 miles per hour right now. Doesnt make any sense. I found this site because I googled "blue and green lights near power outage" . My boyfriend said that a few people reported seeing blue green lights in the sky like an aurora borealis at the time the lights went out. My mom said she looked online and that there was a news report stating that other witnessess had seen the blue green lights in the opposite direction of the other witnesses and when I went online to look for that report, it had been "updated" and the part about the blue green lights wasnt there anymore.
Atlanta,Ga 12/6/11 around 5:45 pm i was on my front porch looking in the sky and seen a pink light in the sky then greenish blue then it happened 4 more times very strange it is raining but it was not lightning that i saw my son seen it too i don't know what it was but it was scary....
