A group finishing up a barbeque in Applewood Acres, Boardman, Ohio, watched an object moving slowly above the treeline. The silent object hovered for about two minutes - a triangle-shaped with white/red lights, according to witness testimony from the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) database.
After watching for several minutes, a helcopter moved into the area and close to the strange craft. Then the triangle craft backed away from the helicopter and its "lights got dimmer until we couldn't see it anymore."
Boardman is a sprawling suburb south of Youngstown - home of the first Arby's restaurant in 1964 - with a 2,000 census of 37,215.
Please keep in mind that most UFO reports can be explained as something natural or manmade. If Ohio MUFON investigates and reports back on this case, I will update this page.

OH, June 6, 2009 - Red and white flickering lights apprx 500 yards away just above trees.
On the evening of June 6 at approx 10:30pm EST, a group of 6 friends were wrapping up a barbeque in a backyard in Applewood Acres in Boardman Oh.
The woman across from me was chattering away when she looked over my shoulder an said " OMG! What is that in the trees?" We all ran into the back of the lot and watched this object in the moonlight move slowly above the treeline.
At first, we could only see one light thru the trees but then another appeared as it moved into a clearing between the trees. The object hovered there for about 2 minutes- NO SOUND!!.
We could faintly make out the shape as a triangle, grey color like a shadow, with red/white lights on edges that flickered like a flame or a plasma torch. They weren't solid or predictable like a plane's light, but random.
We watched for about 3 minutes until a helo came close, and it stopped and hovered as if watching too!
Seconds later, the whatever slowly backed up away from the helo and the lights got dimmer until we couldn't see it anymore. The only place that has helo's that is close is the Hospital Life Flight about a mile away.
Just ironic that it would be in the same place at the same time as this "whatever"!! We are all sure of what we saw but can't explain what it would be doing near a strip of land with strings of power lines and residential lots! Mass halucination? Or?
PS---- None of us DRINK!!!

I saw a ufo during a bbq 16yrs ago. Maybe they're drawn to sausages.

to soon, bosda. though i never saw a ufo, my son and my sister and a friend did. they never claimed it was et, they just couldnt explain what it was, hence the term ufo.
This is nothing new to me. I just moved back to Austintown, but lived, shopped and worked in Boardman for 4 years. Watch the skies at night you will see these crafts ALOT. I think I filmed one, check out my youtube page, my video is on there my username is Karrie26. Thanks for reporting this.
I live pretty close to Youngstown and I have never heard anyone refer to the helicopter as a 'helo'. I have no doubt about UFO's but it makes we wonder about the validity of the so-called witness.
i have seen a ufo although i dont live near where you saw it i think my discribtion matches your and i wish we new what it was i get scared sometimes about what i have seen
I DO BELEIVE THEY ARE AROUND ARE Y-TOWN AREA. MY GIRLFRIEND AND I SAW BLINKING LIGHTS THAT WENT AROUND IN A CIRCLE AND THE WERE VERY BRIGHT THIS PAST SPRING AND THAT SAME NITE HER SON SAW THEM OVER TOP OF MARC'S WHEN HE WAS OUT IN THE PARKING LOT. AS A LOT OF CUSTOMERS DID AS WELL. SO I DO BELEIVE THEY ARE AROUND HERE.
i live in youngstown,ohio lived here all my life but i seen ufos in the city of youngstown as well when i was 15 i had a very scary ufo incounter in 1975 it followed me and it just hovered over my house with no sound funny thing too this why was i following me i got a pair of field glasses too get a better look at it what i saw and seen too this day botheres me it disappeared and reapeared rite in front of my eyes like it was playing games with me i know there ufos around and in youngstown,ohio
hi i live in austintown on april 1 2010 me and my girlfriend and kid saw two of these triangles fly over us low i believe you saw it description is dead on to what we seen
