An Alabama man was so curious July 4, 2010, watching what appeared to be two controlled red lights moving between 100 and 150 feet in the air over Madison, that he was offering $20 to anyone who could explain them, according to testimony from the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) witness reporting database.

During a fireworks display at 9:15 p.m., the man and his wife observed two red lights moving in from the east, making no sound, and circling the area to their north. The two lights maintained a distance of between 50 and 75 feet from each other.

The witnesses report that the lights returned toward the east and merged into one object.

"As the two red lights turned back toward the east, the two lights turned into only one and proceed(ed) East and maintained the same altitude," the reporting witness stated.

"The lights never changed colors, maintained a bright red color. The lights which did not flash throughout the event."

The man turned to others in the parking area where they were watching the fireworks display and made them an offer. "I would give $20 to anyone that could tell me what that was."

The entire event lasted between 2 and 3 minutes. No images or video were provided with the MUFON report. Madison is in both Limestone and Madison counties, population 36,824.

The following is the unedited and as yet uninvestigated report filed with MUFON. Please keep in mind that most UFO reports can be explained as something natural or manmade. If Alabama MUFON State Director Roy E. Patterson, Jr. investigates and reports back on this case, I will release an update.

AL, July 4, 2010 - TWO RED LIGHTS. MUFON Case # 24755.

On the 4th of July, 2010 we had a fireworks display take place at a local park in Madison, Al.

The fireworks started around 9:00 pm and lasted till about 9:30 pm. My wife and I and a few hundred other local folks were at this fireworks show. My wife and I had parked our car in a parking lot at one of the local business in Madison on the West side of the park.

About 9:15 pm two red lights came in from the East at about a 100 to 150 ft in the air, no sound, circled the fireworks display to the North, the two lights maintained a set distance apart of about 50 to 75 feet; no craft was visible.

The red two lights flew between us and the firework shells exploding in the background. As the two red lights turned back toward the east the two lights turned into only one and proceed East and maintained the same altitude. The lights never changed colors, maintained a bright red color. The lights which did not flash throughout the event.

During the event I commented to others at the parking area that "I would give $20.00 to anyone that could tell me what that was." This whole event from beginning to end lasted at best 120 to 180 seconds.

I'm from Michigan too. Yep, we are the "No Job" state. I'll take that $20, and give you a bang-up opinion, and a bonefied picture! It won't be what you saw, but it will be interesting. To get the whole truth, you better call an expert, and expect to pay $400, or just call your local state MUFON.

Ok, I live in Decatur AL about 15 miles or so west of Madison and on the same night I saw the same type of red light going across the sky. It never flashed like all aircraft do, but it moved in a straight line. This was about the same time he's describing, maybe a little earlier and was coming from the west going east. I thought it was weird and so did my daughter but I thought nothing of it and after it passed (and didn't beam me aboard)I didn't think of it again until reading this. I'm sure probably just some type of aircraft, but you never know. And I've never been drunk, and am originally from San Francisco...I don't consider myself a redneck Alabamian.

They are always around the Huntsville area. I have seen them (1 white light at night) for a decade now. This past 1-23-2011 during the afternoon I happened to catch 2 of them flying together, like the buddy system the army uses. But this time the 1 shot a red light or beam down over the Triana area, past Drake. Roy, I did tell a member about it here that you know, Monty. And you and I met years ago at a meeting. You would not call them friendly, more like evil angels one should avoid at all cost. I would be one to know after a 1988 incident-accident in lower La. near the gulf, leaving me with strange 1-2 inch scars that have no stitch mark. On various parts of my body, including 1 that is also about an inch long on the roof of my mouth. They take what they want regardless of what it cost us. Just another victim in their sick game, Jeanne
