On December 30, 2008, a Memphis university professor who had never taken the subject of UFOs seriously had his first shocking, eyeopening encounter with the phenomenon. He asked to remain anonymous but was glad to submit this report to me about his experience : [in his own words] "the early morning of December 30th, 2008 was clear and, for the season, relatively mild. Since I enjoy the early morning, I arose about 5:30 am and went out into my backyard. The sky was cloudless and the stars very bright. I decided to walk down the lane at the side of my house to observe a wider expanse of sky. Since the trees were completely leafless, I had an unobstructed view of the heavens, looking south. "
"As I gazed up at the southern sky, I was startled by a strange phenomenon, one that I have never in my life seen before. I observed a string of bulb-like white lights , each round in shape, perhaps six to eight in number, moving one behind the other in an undulating, horizontal movement. Each bulb was very bright, and it was impossible to confuse the chain of lights with any star or group of stars. Each bulb was much larger and fully lit. It was difficult to say how hgh up these were, but they were low enough to reveal themselves as nothing we could call a 'normal' phenomenon. As I stood and watched in awe, the lights were suddenly gone, moving steadily south until they vanished."
"The emotion I felt was astonishment, and when I related my experience to Eddie Middleton, he immediately told me that a similar occurence had been reported in Nashville a few months earlier by Gary Mansfield. Eddie revealed to me that Mr. Mansfield was an artist and had made a drawing of what he had seen. Later Mr. Middleton showed me this drawing and I was amazed to see that what I had seen was IDENTICAL to Mr. Mansfield's sighting, with the only exception perhaps that his sighting had more bulbs of round light. I attest that it was an errie feeling to see my observation drawn so accurately."
