Tonight is the benefit for victims of the Haitian earthquake, “Hope for Haiti”. Among the many celebrities donating their time to help the devastated country will be Bono and The Edge.

The duo will perform the new song “Stranded (Haiti Mon Amour)” in London with fellow musicians Jay-Z and Rihanna. Like all of the musical performances that will be seen tonight, the track is going to be on iTunes for downloading with all proceeds going to various charities to help Haiti.

Mega producer Swizz Beatz worked on the track (along with Declan Gaffney) and said that he had to find a way to offer a hand in Haiti’s time of need. “I reached out to my friends Bono and Jay-Z and asked for their help… It’s important we as a global community all come together to help.”

He said that he asked Bono and Jay-Z to help via text message, and as per Rolling Stone, said that Bono had the word “stranded” on his mind. “I asked him to sing it, and he put on hold ‘cause he’s recording the ideas on a Dictaphone- so he did it there and then on the phone.”

Swizz had confidence in his famous friends in making sure the record was perfect for the event, adding that he knew “Bono would be able to sing and bring it home.”

“Hope for Haiti” will air tonight on networks like ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC, MTV and VH1 among others. It will also be streamed live on websites like YouTube and MSN.com. Check your local listings so you don’t miss out on what will truly be a night of inspiration and kindness.
