Minn. (MN)—the production company known as Man In Hat Productions (MIHP), based in New York, produced a 3D special content for Sports Illustrated (SI) Swimsuit Issue along with the participation of Sony. They all came together to work on an affordable business model for producing quality 3D content for broadcast.
Lots can be said about 3D technology and its increasing popularity in films since James Cameron’s blockbuster hit movie Avatar. Through this transitional period, lots of networks are testing their own 3D versions of their channels and what MIHP is looking to become the forefront of creating the necessary content to fill airtime with innovative 3D commercials.
“Sport Illustrated was thinking of ways to bring the Swim Suit Edition to video. Simultaneously, Sony was working on to rolling out their line of 3D TV’s to bring this innovative video content,” said D. Bhatt, president and CEO of MIHP. “I think we are at a cutting-edge time for all media. Television, big screen, social media, and companies like us were willing to take that chance jump into a field that is emerging to do some pretty big things.”
The New York Company was started by D. Bhatt along with four partners he met during a summer filmmaking program. He currently is developing and producing innovative projects in film, television and advertising with first 3D SI Swim Suit Special, and the 2D version of the first SI Swim suit selection show on DirecTV.
The founder D. Bhatt is a professional screen writer with two bachelor degrees in Literature and Biology, a masters in Neural Science and two doctorates in Neurobiology and Behavior. He has a depth of experience and has volunteered as a physician in Europe, Africa and India.
So where can you find this cutting-edge content and which devices can play it? According to Computer Games and Video.com “All of this is available either through the PS Store Video section, or via Sony’s Qriosity video-on-demand service on Sony’s network-enabled Bravia TV’s or Blu-ray players.”
The Director at MIHP, Jonathan Whittaker, explained that all these trends have changed how this content was made through new innovative processes.
"It takes the production process out of a studio environment - brings the live action format to the small screen, making it a much more immersive viewing experience,” he said.
The so-called 3D technology or revolution may increase in popularity among consumers with Sony upgrading their Vaio F series laptops with 3D technology, according to the Telegraph. The U.S.A TODAY also linked video games in 3D as an indicator to possibly boost sales of 3D televisions.
What do MIHP, Sony, and SI have in common in this project? They are looking new ways to deliver the next cutting-edge technology and they are aware of the verity of it. MIHP is looking to leave a footprint in this transformational time with its unique approach and solution to 3D content.
