The controversial smash hit show “Jersey Shore” returns for its second season this evening on MTV. Cast members are out in force publicizing the season premiere. On Tuesday cast members were at the New York Stock Exchange in New York City to ring the opening bell. And, of course, they are talking about it on Twitter.
J-Wow is leading the way on Twitter hyping up the premiere. Early this morning, Jenni "J-WOW" Farley (@JENNIWOWW) tweeted, “catch me on the NBC today show tomorrow morning at 8:00am!! early day wahhhhhhhh.”
Other cast members are also reminding their Twitter followers, Angelina Pivarnick @MTVAngelina tweeted, “Night my sexy followers....love you all! Don't forget to watch#JerseyShore2 tonight at @MTV”
But some cast have not mentioned the premiere, Nicole Polizzi @Sn00ki and Samantha Giancola @MTVsammi have not mentioned the show in over a week.
The show is not without controversy. New Jersey Governor Christie (@GovChristie), tweeted yesterday about his appearance on the Today Show, “The time for my @todayshow interview is now 7:12.”
While being interviewed on the Today Show, Governor Christie clearly displayed his distaste for the show "Jersey Shore." The Governor explained the true background of the cast members, who are from New York. He went on to say that the show does not fairly depict reality of the beaches of New Jersey, and invited anyone to come and visit the Jersey Shore, and find out for themself.
Also, Italian-American groups are complaining about the negative stereotypes the show’s cast portrays.
The Twitter is a blazed with tweets about the start of the MTV mega-hit. As show airs this evening tweets about the show and its stars are expected to increase tenfold.
