Adam Lambert was best known for his rise to stardom via American Idol -- that was, until last night. Now he will be remembered as the guy who kissed another guy on stage at the American Music Awards. Lambert performed his hit song "For Your Entertainment" at the awards show last night, and has been talked about ever since for his performance. (Watch the video at PerezHilton.com.)
During the performance, Adam Lambert kissed one of his back-up dancers as well as grabbed his own crotch numerous times (which is nothing new -- it was Michael Jackson's signature move). There was also simulated oral sex on stage. Lambert came out of the closet and announced that he was in fact gay after American Idol was over. Rumors had swirled around him during the time he was on the show, but nothing was said until after it was over.
In response to the controversy around last night's show, Lambert said "there's a big double standard, female pop artists have been doing things provocative like that for years, and the fact that I'm a male, and I'll be edited and discriminated against could be a problem."

I was dissappointed in the network that they would allow something like that on prime time. There were children watching and it was not the place to promote your own agenda. It was an award show and suppose to be strickly entertainment...It was not entertainment..

the kissing was HOT ... some of the other dragging around and leashes and crotch props were .... not so much, but each to his/her own. We are adults. We get to pick and choose, like, dislike, drool or cover eyes. Why weren't the kids and Sunday School teachers in bed anyway?
I had read a few days ago that Adam Lambert said people could expect his performance to be "sexy." Unfortunately, his performance was sexual, yet not at all sexy.
His choice to put on such a display of vulgarity suggests a lack of maturity and judgement. It did not do justice to his amazing talent.
Adam Lambert is so talented and I wish him well. I would like to know what his parents thought of his performance. He had the opportunity to really showcase his talent and instead he forced his sexuality down our throats. I am sure that many of his American Idol fans are younger fans who like me waited up to see his performance. Shame on you Adam for wasting your great talent in this way.

I think he thought he had to outdo everyone before him because he was on last. However, it was way over the top for anyone's first performance out of the gate. I don't think America is ready, fair or not. I was repulsed even though I don't consider myself a homophobe. I have many friends who are gay, they just don't put it in my face like he did last night. I also don't like that my 6 yr old saw it. I had no warning for her. Not cool. We still love Adam, but he has alienated a lot of people right from the start. Not the epitomy of businessman that he tries to project. He should have been smarter than this.

I don't have a problem with Adam's performance but I do when its sending the wrong message to our kids. Not about being gay but about flaunting our sexuality whenever and wherever we please. I know teenagers aren't as naive as we think and can think for themselves but please tone it down a little please. As for double standards I didn't like the Madonna Brittany kiss either . I think its pretty sad that artists are so insecure within themselves that they can't rely on their pure talent and have to resort to shocking the world to take notice of them.
I am a 56 year old lesbian and I just loved Adam om American Idol. I don't consider myself a prude by know means. However Adam I do feel that you have so much more talent then that. You certainly don't have to exploit yourself in that manner. We all know your sexuality. Focus on the gift god gave you and rock the house. You CAN blow the roof off.....Best of luck in the future

There are a lot of famous singers out there with awful and explicit lyrics and with even more explicit videos and nothing happen. Rihanna can be almost naked, Shakira can shake her pelvis and play with her backup dancers, Madonna can kiss Britney, The tATu can express their sexuality to the whole world or even Reggaeton can glorified sex with its lyrics and dance but Adam Lambert can't do what he did last night. Adam Lambert is a freak and destroyed his image. He would rather be shocking than a good singer. His Mad World performance was classy and beautiful, but this was a freak show and took away from his vocals. Ok, so it is okay if our kids play violent video games, watch Jerry Springer-like shows, parade little girls around like they are sexy in little Miss America contests, listen to violent rap music, watch R-rated movies when they're 8, smoke, drink, use profanity, and are addicted to prescription drugs. My first thought was HOLY ***!!! But then I remembered, this is Adam! And he did warn us it would be sexy. So,people, your 6 yr. olds should have been in bed by that time of night. I thought Adam had one of the best performances at the AMAs. I was very excited to see him kiss that boy on stage. It was powerful, sexy, and inspiring. And I love that his name is Adam, now we just got find a steve.

I don't like Adam Lambert's singing, but I can't deny...that kiss was hot. I mean, it really was. I am not a homophobe. I don't care if Adam is gay. He's still one of the sexiest men I've ever seen & I'm a woman. Last night's performance was not sexy or hot. I waited all through the show in anticipation of hearing the most beautiful voice I've ever heard, seeing sexy dancing as Adam did during the Idol Tour, and what transpired was a disappointing piece of trash. It did not show the greatness of his voice, which by the way, could be the best voice ever. We know Adam is gay, there's no point in showing us on stage. This was an opportunity to make a wonderful impression and show your talent, Adam. You needed to show class as you always have. Your act last night was far from classy, your dancing was sub par and your performance was a great disappointment. Personally, I just laughed watching this. People seem to more okay with lesbians because of the masses of guys who get off on that, but the only time where the opposite is really accepted is on the internet with other girls into that. (Girls liking guyxguy, I mean), and in real life if you give inclination that you find two guys together hot, it's 'weird'. So since there's not as many people (guys, too) who like guyxguy who are out about it, it's a shocker for most people to see it.

Acting out oral sex in front of a crowd is inappropriate for anyone, as well as sticking your tongue down someone's throat. Nobody wants to see that up close and personal. I think this whole problem is stupid. Every one has acted crazy at times. You cant tell me you have never done anything that you regret now. Wether what you did was in public or in privet. I understand how maybe parents could get angery at it if there young children where watching. But you should check the ratings before you let your child whatch any show.
