A select few press agencies allowed to stalk the set of New Moon are finally able to begin revealing their experiences; all part of a well-schemed plan to provide regular intervals of hype before the flick is released November 20.
Hollywood.com’s Katie Bain was one of said press people, i.e. lucky fans. Her time-by-time blow of her stay on set gives fans a great inside picture of the filming process, with snippets of spoilers strewn along. Particularly noteworthy, however, was her interview with Taylor Lautner.

Taylor is a source of much confusion for mature fans. As Jacob Black, we consider him to be around 25. The problem is that a boy, 16 in Twilight, now 17 years old, plays him. To boot, he has gained 30 pounds of muscle in order to fit Stephenie Meyer’s larger, more muscled Jacob. More discussion on the topic of Taylor/Jacob to come.
That said, this interview deflates the image of sexy, ripped Jacob and scoops out the heart of who Taylor Lautner is. A boy. The “yeahs” and “likes” give it away. But all in all, it’s sweet to hear and makes pictures of the boy with glistening muscles all the more bittersweet.
Bain starts off her synopsis with:
2:50PM Taylor Lautner meets us in the parking lot wearing a sick pair of high-top sneakers and black skinny-leg jeans. He is polite, well-spoken and has perfect skin. Totes dreamy ... for a 17-year-old.
In a nutshell, Taylor says about the film:
What about the wig?
TL: The long hair is definitely a wig. I just wrapped with the wig a few days ago. That was amazing. The whole crew gave an applause. I was so happy.
Are you going to keep it?
TL: They were like, "So do you want to keep it?" and I was like, "If you give it to me I’ll probably burn it."
Have you had a chance to meet (Eclipse director) David Slade yet?
TL: He came up here briefly. I was in the middle of a stunt rehearsal, and he showed up with Wyck [Godfrey], one of our producers, and he was like, “Hey, this is David.” And at this point, he wasn’t signed onto the film, and I had no idea who he was. Then all the sudden he started putting these camera hands in my face like, "Yeah, I think this would be a good angle right here." And I was like, "What is he doing?"
Then finally as he was doing that, Wyck was like, “Oh, I should probably tell you who this is. This is David Slade. He’s probably going to be doing Eclipse." I was like, "Oh, that makes sense now."
What has been your favorite scene to film so far?
TL: I’d either say some cool action scene I got to do, because I really do like the action. Or I really like the breakup scene. We call it the breakup scene. It’s the first time Bella sees Jacob after he’s transformed when she comes to his house. And she sees for the first time his hair is cut, he’s different. He tells her that we shouldn’t be friends. It’s a really emotional scene.
Considering how moody Jacob gets, do you feel bad for Bella at all?
TL: I don’t feel bad one bit. I feel bad for myself. When I was reading the books, I felt so bad for Jacob’s character, but now that I’m actually living him, I feel way worse.
Bella is toying with Jacob. I don’t care if she’s ripped between the two guys. I feel so bad for Jacob because she confuses him. One moment she’ll want to kiss him, and the next moment she’s ditching him for Edward. I understand where Bella’s coming from, and it’s a crappy situation for all of them, but I feel really bad for Jacob.
A lot of fans are really looking forward to the scene in Eclipse where Bella and Jacob finally have the kiss.
TL: Yeah, so am I.
Taylor’s endearing answers are enough to snap mature moms back into reality. And though Taylor, in this video, is shot looking extremely mature, the fact is that Taylor is a kid who is amazing enough to pull off a character able to harness the mind of a 25 year old.
There’s much to be said on the topic of Taylor Lautner/Jacob Black. What are your thoughts? Is it alright for the mature fan to swoon over Jacob Black on film, or is it over the top considering that Jacob is played by a 17 year old kid?

I can't get into him, he's 17!! I like them young, don't get me wrong but somewhere in adult land is where I'm willing to go. Now Rob -- that's another story! LOL He's cute, but like a brother... Also, I agree with Taylor -- Jacob got played for the first 3 books!
It's true that it is probably a little inappropriate for mature woman, like myself, to be drooling all over a 17 year old kid. It is hard to differentiate between the character and the real life person. However, it usually is because the attraction is that of the character really, not the person. The real person is probably not nearly as interesting as the character they play...which is true for most men...LOL. With that said, drooling over an attractive character is not the same as walking up to a 17 year old on the street and saying or doing something innapropriate.
I think it's totally fine for adult fans to swoon over him. Hey, at least he'll be legal by the time Eclipse comes out ;)
He may be young and boyish, but you can also tell that there is a mature and manly edge to him. He'll grow up fast. And people who know him have described him as being mature beyond his years.
I also like the fact that he stated point blank that he didn't feel sorry for Bella one bit! The way she selfishly used Jacob should make any pity you might feel for her null and void.
Can't wait for these movies!
He does nothing for me. His personality is not attractive and the thick overly worked unnatural neck is a huge turn off. he's a little boy in a blown up body. Eww

Jacob DID totally get played. It's hard to feel sorry for Bella when she so easily ditched him for Edward. And as far as lusting after a 17 year old goes, I'm 19, so I don't feel AS gross checking him out.

OK, well, I think it's kind of crazy for mature women to lust after him, but I mean he is eye candy and has a great body along with a fantastic personality (RARE!). It's ok to swoon over Jacob Black because he is an unusual boy of 17 whose 'condition' and circumstance force his body and mind to mature much faster and therefore he thinks, acts and reacts like a grown man protecting his "family".
Taylor however is a different matter, as he is a real 17 year old boy, living in a real world who likes girls his own age and such adoration by much older women is to my mind disgusting and inappropriate.
You cannot tell me that Taylor himself does not feel uncomfortable and disgusted by the older women asking him to sign their underwear.
Some of these deluded sad women think they actually have a chance with him. As if... Way gross!!!! Grow up and face reality.
Even Jacob Black if he really existed would'nt look twice at women over 30.

Jacob is 16 going on 17 but just LOOKS 25. Anyway, there was a comment about how disgusting it is for older women to drool over Taylor. That may be, but it's only drooling. It's all in the mind, so there's no harm to it. If men can fantasize being with a muich younger woman, women can do the same as long as they don't take it beyond that. Besides, drooling over Taylor has more to do with Jacob Black - a fictional character - than Taylor himself, so again, no harm done. Even women go through midlife crisis *LOL*
It's part of his character to look this way, so I think its cool that he's buffed up for it. They would have considered somebody else for his role otherwise! I think Taylor's hot.. He makes a good Jacob.
I see nothing wrong with it. If your a responsible adult you'll agree. Everyone don't run around letting lust lead the way. Because men are very visional when it comes to physical attraction and I don't think it stops at 25 year old women. Unfortunate to say, but speaking for myself as a women he's a handsome kid. I think it's just the way he carries himself that makes him attrative and he's so polite and sweet and has lots of personality. So if he can get the attention of women over 25 it says a lot about his character, his looks just makes it even more interesting. Every women is not drolling over him because he's young, please! That's the first turn off for me.
