Forks and Port Angeles, Washington - which play setting to events in Stephenie Meyer's Twilight saga - are gearing up for a week-long celebration of Meyer by way of Bella's birthday next weekend.
According to the Peninsula Daily News, it became a weekend after immense fan interest in the events, and organizers still aren't quite sure how many people will make their way to Forks for the celebration.
The visitor information tolls, though, might provide some sort of insight. Says PDN,
In August, the center had 13,605 guests, Mike Gurling, office manager, said. So far in 2009, about 55,600 people have been through the visitor center, he added. "That compares with the total number of visitors in 2008 of 18,736," he said.
Forks isn't the only Twilight town setting that is celebrating this weekend. Port Angeles, which played host to Bella and Edward's first date at Bella Italia - amongst other things - is also participating in their own way.
According to another article at the Pennsylvania Daily News, Port Angeles is hosting TwilightFest from Thursday, September 10th, to Saturday, September 12th.
The celebration will begin at noon Thursday with Bella's "re-birthday" at Dazzled By Twilight, 135 E. First St., in Port Angeles.
The "re-birthday celebration, which will continue until 6 p.m., marks the day that Bella -- Isabella Swan, the human heroine of the series, who falls in love with vampire Edward Cullen -- is transformed into a vampire in the novels.
The birthday also will celebrate the birth of Bella's child, Renesmee -- named for Bella's mother, Renee, and Edward's vampire "mother," Esme.
This will not be the only thing taking place at TwilightFest.
On Friday, stores throughout downtown Port Angeles plan special events, a Twilight Trivia Tournament will begin at 4 p.m. at the Red Lion Hotel, and an outdoor screening of the "Twilight" movie is set for 9 p.m.
...
Events will continue Saturday at The Gateway pavilion at Front and Lincoln streets, where storyteller Anita Wheeler will tell tales at 11 a.m. and music will play throughout the afternoon.
The Fest will also include a "Bella Ball" and vow renewal ceremony. You can read the full list of events and descriptions here. Also, more information is available here.
