Summit Entertainment has just announced that The Twilight Saga: New Moon star Rachelle Lefevre will be replaced in The Twilight Saga: Eclipse by actress Bryce Dallas Howard due to scheduling conflicts.
Lefevre, we noted before, has a busy filming schedule with her newest role in Barney's Version, a film that starts production on the same date as Eclipse.
According to the press release,
“We are incredibly happy that Bryce has agreed to come into the franchise,” said Erik Feig, Summit’s President of Worldwide Production and Acquisitions. “Rachelle brought “Victoria” to great screen life and Bryce will bring a new dimension to the character. The franchise is lucky to have such a talented actress as Bryce coming in to fill the role.”
Howard most recently starred in TERMINATOR SALVATION as Kate Connor and has been seen in SPIDER-MAN 3, LADY IN THE WATER, and THE VILLAGE. She was nominated for a Golden Globe for her leading performance as an actress in the HBO film AS YOU LIKE IT.

I like Bryce, but I am not happy that Rachelle is being replaced.
I'm not happy about this. I do love Bryce as an actress, but I don't like change at all in the Twilight Saga films. It makes me uneasy.
Sad that we won't get to see rachelle see victoria through until the bitter end. i'm sure bryce will do a fantastic job, but it will seem strange not to have rachelle as victoria.

Why do they do that??? I hate it when they change the actors in the middle of movies like that. You get use to the original actors and Rachelle was perfect as Victoria.
bryce looks more like what I've always pictured victoria like in my head - especially her eyes....it will be interesting to see what she does with the role. rachelle never really fit the victoria image for me - not that I didn't like her, she just wasn't "my" victoria.
I'm sure Bryce is a talented actress, but I don't like the idea of Rachelle not being Victoria. She has an edge to her that Victoria is definitely going to need in Eclipse. Good luck Bryce, you have ALOT of Twilight fans that will be watching closely.

This really sucks!!! it's not that I dislike BDH but they shouldn't change actors/actresses in the middle of a franchise!! Rachelle IS Victoria...love her or hate her...I would rather they push back eclipse & keep the cast consistent!
Rachelle is a great actress, but she really wasn't what I had envisioned Victoria to look like. Bryce is closer to it!!!

Man - I'm so torn. I love Bryce- I always have. She's a tremendous actress and I'm sure she'll do the role beautifully. But Rachelle IS Victoria! She's made the part hers and as much as I truly love Bryce, it's just gunna kill me to not to see Rachelle. It's like Victoria won't be Victoria but some different character. Man - everytime I read the book, during the final battle, I just SO picture Rachelle! Of course - if they stay close to the book, Victoria is only mentioned during the entire book and actually shows up only during the final battle. So if they stay close to the book, we'll only be actually seeing her for a few minutes. Still - dang. I hate cast change-ups.
I like BDH but Rachelle is Victoria - I really don't think they should change this.

Why would Rachelle sign for another movie that starts on the same date as Eclipse? Doesn't make alot of sense. She knew she had the commitment to Eclipse. Very disappointing.

What's really strange is she's filming the other movie in Quebec, which isn't far from Vancouver. Why couldn't she work it out so she could do both?
I just hate when a character is replaced by another person.....the part is never done the same way..............and Eclipse is pivotal to Victoria.....she is a huge part of the story....
This is just not acceptable. Rachelle should be in the role, not this new person. Why can't her other movie just push off its date???
I don't think there is a scheduling conflict. They made scheduling conflicts work for Cam Gigandet (James) and Elizabeth Reaser (Esme) was filling a tv show and they worked around it.
What a coincident the find Ron Howards daughter. She does not fit the role. As a Twilight Fan I am not happy.
Also Summit did it to director catherine hardwicke, then talked about replacing Taylor Lautner and now this!
The whole thing seems fishy to me. Not only is Rachelle great as Victoria, she's participated in a ton of Twilight-related events, from 2 Comic-Cons, to vampire baseball, to hundreds of interviews.
Bryce Howard looks a lot like Rachelle, but I agree that Victoria needs a certain edge, and I don't know if she has it.
I am suspicious about this change, and wonder if there's another reason for Rachelle's absence from Eclipse....
Rachelle did sign on to the new film about two weeks ago. I imagine she was negotiating to do both movies but maybe something changed in either shooting sched and so it didn't work out. Summit must have let her out of her contract once they found an actress to replace her. I liked her as Victoria and I'd stay with Rob of course, LOL but I get why she wants to work with Paul Giamatti, too.
can't say that i am a huge fan of rachelle's but her enthusiasm for the saga leads me to believe something is not right. her role, although pivotal, is not huge, so scheduling conflicts can be worked out. it is not like she will be needed for all 2 months of filming. i don't think she has the acting chops to pull it off but why change now, there are alot of other actors in the twilight movies that aren't that good either (even some of the leads). and why would she walk away from the biggest and most successful movies of the next few years voluntarily for most likely supporting roles in upcoming projects? but business is business and we the viewers are going to go regardless of the casting, so i guess that is why the studio can get away with it.
That's one of the worst things about filming a series; fans tend to be unhappy and very critical when cast gets changed around. I LOVE Lefevre as Victoria. She DOES have that certain edge that Victoria needs. Bryce seems too sweet-looking, like a girlish-woman, which Victoria is too hard to be described that way. lol I really hope they change their minds and Lefevre can come back. :(
So sad to hear that she's not gonna do Eclipse. It's not gonna be the same. Definitely hate it when characters are replaced in a franchise/saga. It just doesn't make sense that she wouldn't finish what she started. One can only assume the other one is paying her more.
im sorry, but bryce looks nothing like what the book describes... first of all, vampires are suppose to be beautiful, uummmm bryce looks like a school teacher, seriously not beautiful like rachell ...

PROBABLY TOLD HER FOR THE GOOD OF THE FRANCHISE. lets face it, this crap happens all the time, they get the little talk... my brother inlaw is an entertainment lawyer, and i hear all kinds of stories.

First, Rob said at CC that he finds himself argumentative about the script. This coming from the guy who doesn't complain when he gets mobbed by fans.
Second, Rachelle jumps ship right before her movie. Meaning that her character is a big part of the next film. Does she think Eclipse is going to tank?
No offense to BDH, I'm sure she is great. Just not for this part and not in the middle of the series.
I feel so shocked, sad and angry. Shocked because I never expected that any of the cast would be replaced, sad because Rachelle won't be doing it and angry because I hate it when casting changes halfway through a series/franchise.

I knew the third director would be a problem child for us. Next we'll hear that Rob Pattinson is being replaced by Harry Potter because of scheduling conflicts. Give me such a break! Morons! Just because the girl has red hair doesn't mean she will EVER replace Victoria.
Replacing Rachelle is a serious mistake. If there is a petition somewhere I'll sign it. If I was more computer savvy, I would start one and send it to Summit. Let's use the fan power for something other than making Summit a very rich, powerful company. I read on Variety that it is not about a scheduling conflict. I'm very very angry.
Very disappointed! I agree with all, hate when they change someone during a series. I just can't vision anyone else playing Victoria. Rachelle has that edge about her, a wild and untamed vampire. Rachelle is Victoria! Sorry but I just don't see BDH having that.

Agree with Cari_Tx... It's very strange, other actors had schedule problems and they could work things out perfectly. It was Victoria's moment now and Rachelle was always so upbeat and excited about the saga, so I don't believe she would turn it down so easily.
And neither would Summit, they would surely know how this would destroy Twilight fans... Something pretty odd and serious must have hapenned. =/
I'm gonna miss Rachelle's evil smile, it was perfect for Victoria, but let's give it a chance to Bryce. She may be good too, who knows? And we're note kids, so we'll know how to handle it.

Bryce is a good actress regardless of the disapointment in casting changes. In the end she will mostlikey put in a very good preformance.
Nobody likes change, but in the end this will be fine. Besides she is only in Eclipse breifly at the end of the story before she and Riley lose to Edward and Seth.

I'm reading through and it sounds like some of you are freaking out a bit. It's going to be okay. I agree that it really does suck. No one likes it when they change an actor/actress in the middle of a series, but if that's what needs to be done... not much else we can do. I haven't seen Bryce Dallas Howard play a villain. That's what I'm worried about... she's a tad bit too sweet. Rachelle had that awesome mischievous 'cat that just ate the canary' smile and persona. I just don't know if Bryce can pull that off. But I'm hopeful.
Now I can't WAIT until I see Rob tear this poser limb from limb. I can really cheer now. We loved Rachelle..EVERYONE knows she is really Victoria. The politics behind this are such a disgrace. Ron Howard should hang his head in shame. I'm going to burn my Andy of Mayberry videos. Now all of the Twilight/NM cast will be walking on egg shells waiting for the other shoe to drop. Some of the most obvious Hollywood politics played out ever. Pathetic. I'll never call her Victoria - she'll simply be Miss Vicki.
