Twilight film studio Summit Entertainment has issued an official statement on The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn's status at this point and time.
A rep for the studio issued the statement exclusively to His Golden Eyes, saying "Summit Entertainment looks forward to bringing 'Breaking Dawn' to the big screen but at this point any additional information is premature."
The response comes on the heels of high levels of anticipation for such information given the extraordinary weekend that The Twilight Saga: New Moon enjoyed on its opening theatrical debut.
So, there's good news, and there's bad news.
The good news is that the studio has officially (aside from placing "coming soon" over the potential film's title on the New Moon webpage) recognized and admitted its interest in bringing the film to life. The bad news is that this is probably something you already guessed at or knew, so the news contains no exciting new details - yet.
So, we wait . . .

and wait...
whats the hold up? any info?
awwwww! common!!! They are going to make it! The suites would be FOOLS not to! I believe if new moon was this successful, the next two (or three!) will be even bigger! Albeit, this is coming from a massive fan of the series, but the numbers are hard to ignore...and we all know what the suites want... cash! Meanwhile.. i just want some the movie to get made...! P.S I am very much of the mind it should be two movies! Amanda.. keep up the good work!

I think the hold up may be because they're deciding whether to make one or two movies. But Breaking Dawn's definitely going to be filmed in 2010 :-)
and wait... and wait... and wait...
Frig'in Scummit.
Not only are they trying to decide how many films to break it into (Im guessing TWO) but WHO will direct it. Chris Weitz has been very cryptic w/ his statments about coming back for breaking dawn.. ranging from "wait til you see the movie before you decide if you like my work" to "you haven't seen what David Slade has created.."
AND HES RIGHT.. Chris did a wonderful job with New Moon, BUT we didnt have all the sneak shots on the sets of Eclipse like we did in New Moon, most of this film WILL be a surprise! SO .. its a hurry up and wait, Summit wont announce ANYTHING until after Eclipse has been released but they will make their decision once they have seen the first roughcut of Eclipse...
So lets all sit back and enjoy New Moon. Y'all buy tickets to local TwiTour events and support the actors! I will see you at TWICON in VEGAS!
I really wish they would hurry up. But one of the main hold ups is the actors; i read that Rob and Kristen only signed on to do 4 movies not 5 and if Breaking dawn is split into 2 movies(i hope its not!) than they have to sign a new contract and be willing to do the promotion for an extra film, ect. Plus, the director may also be a big hold up. We will just have to wait and wait!
Meh. How is that breaking news? Why do they just keep teasing us? We will clearly pay up!!
I completely agree with @vixen_vamp. I think they are going to see how David Slade fares with Eclipse. I'm pretty sure Catherine Hardwicke is out as a potential director for Breaking Dawn(s), but we haven't seen what DS has done yet, but man, he's got some big shoes to fill if he is going to give CW a run for his money.
This is news because we now have a statement from Summit as a whole conclusively showing that they intend to make BD. Of course, they are right that it's too premature to release any details at the moment. Selecting a director for the final installment in the series is no easy task, and Summit should not offer teasing answers to fuel speculation. Saying "we do not have substantive information at the moment" is wise.
Ugh why are we still waiting?! If they wait till after Eclipse the actors are going to change more. I thought the whole reason they were doing these fast was so the actors looked the same. They are going to age of course and the more time they waste talking about the more they age. And I just want an offical answer already, we know they will do it. So Summit just say it already!
I found a great dating site ______bmwmillionaire.com__________ .where you have the opportunity dreaming about dating a millionaire and make it true! u don't have to be a millionaire.but u can meet one. I thought everyone needed to meet some miracle after all the terrible stuff in the news and the economy .-----------------------
Well, Ashley just tweeted today saying that she received some 'good news', so I think she may have got the 'green light' announcement from Summit. Of course she can't say anything yet, not until they make it 'official'. But I definitely think that's what she was talking about. Can't wait!!
i called months ago monday the 23rd the latest for the official green light for BD. we got an "unofficial" one, so i guess i was half right.
thinking about it, it does make sense that they would want to see at the very least a rough cut of some scenes that slade has done before picking/announcing a director. thats why i was holding out that a teaser would be ready and attached to the NM credits. its obvious that BD will be shot in 2010 - summit just needs to hammer out the schedule to accommodate RP/KS/TL and company.
Hmmmm. I'm sure they'll make Breaking Dawn into a movie. I almost hope they replace KS though. I know, I know. Some people love her as Bella. She's okay, but I just don't identify with Bella on screen the way I did in the books. Oh well.
In my opinion i think they should just bring Chris Weiz back to do the fourth installment. What summit should have done was filmed New Moon, Eclipse and Breaking Dawn all together that way they wouldnt have to worry about picking new directors. I still really hope they bring Chris Weiz back. The only reason a new director was brought it was because he was not able to commit to eclipse because he was finishing up New Moon. With it being out of the way now i really hope they will ink him in as the director again. I have to say i have seen past movies that David Slade has directed (30 days of night and of course others) and were severely dissapointed. The good news is that stephanie meyer and has alot of say in how the movie is to be shown. She request that they do not stray from the books at all or alter it in any way so maybe i will be pleasantly suprised with eclipse and how he directed this film. I will be upset if he goes of script like he does in other movies he has directed.
They really need to do Breaking Dawn! It does need to be split into two movies cause there is way to much to the book to put it all in one movie and if they are worried about the rated R part I really don't they should worry about it especially when Breaking Dawn is basically a rated R book! I loved the book and would absolutely love to seen it on the big screen and I also think Chris Weitz would do an amazing job since you kept so close to the book of New Moon for the movie! He worked really well with the cast also! if it does take a little longer for breaking dawn to come out and people are worried about the actors changing they really shouldn't worry to much about that Make-Up does wonders believe me as someone who does make-up for a living! Please bring Breaking Dawn to the big screen quit talking so much and get on with talk of doing the movie and what needs to be done, not the back and forth of should we or shouldn't we! Really please do the movie and I know the right director
with the the right director it can make an amazing film so please get in with it and make this movie please we all are voting yes for this to happen! So please Make it happen! Hopefully they can get get Chris Weitz to do the film cause he did New Moon wonderfully and stuck to the book as much as possible and he get along and works really well with the actors and making them feel comfortable! So again I plea to make this movie! I have my vote out there! We need a Petition site so we can all sign it or vote on it to get it into production!
Yes I also am with you Meg they are fools of they don't make this film! With the Success of New Moon being the Number one Movie in the world the films are going to get even more fan base is just going to get even bigger and bigger with the next movies! People want more so bad even more books so please again I say what's the hold up? I say again we need to make a petition If I knew how I would make one! please oh please make the movie Breaking Dawn!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
hopefully they'll make when soon. im only turning 16 next year and i swear that if they make it rated R, im SO sneaking in!
