Justin Chon in 'The Twilight Saga: New Moon' - Summit Ent.
If anyone's counting, make that two Twilight stars that were inspired to join the franchise by Kristen Stewart's performance in Into The Wild.
Notoriously, Robert Pattinson auditioned for the role of "Edward Cullen" because of Stewart's phenomenal portrayal of "Tracy Tatro," and, now, Justin Chon ("Eric Yorkie") has revealed that he, too, came into readings for the part because of her work.
Chon did a very interesting and revealing interview with the Korea Times where he talked about his start in the film industry, noting that he expected his catapult to be his film Crossing Over, not Twilight. He also revealed that he was, initially, uninterested in auditioning for the role of "Eric" but reconsidered when he saw who was attached to the project.
Chon initially did not want to even audition for ``Twilight'' but he changed his mind once he heard that the indie filmmaker Hardwicke was directing and that Kristen Stewart was part of the cast. He had been impressed by the actress in ``Into the Wild''; and during his own trip to Alaska, he camped near the film site.
Very interesting, huh? Note that the interview with Korea Times is very comprehensive and makes for a good, informative read.

Speaking from a adult point of view, and one who has been watching movies since way before most people here were born...
I adore her...I love her gutsiness and her fearless choices of
roles...She truly is "not" a "movie star" but a "actress."
Those who don't agree, are not very educated in acting or movies.
In my humble opinion...
I think Kristen is awesome!! I had seen like three of her movies before Twilight and thought she was a good actress, Her work in movies seem's more real making her a true actress not movie star and that's what I like. She is on my top list of favorite actress'.

i wasn't really impressed with Kris before Twilight. I thought she was mediocre in her earlier stuff. But I do respect that she's not going the celeb route and picking sure thing money makers. And I'm pleased to say that while she still doesn't blow me away with mad skill, she's improving.
And I am happy that Robert, Ashley, Anna etc aren't going the easy route either. Clearly they all one to be actors not celebrities and that's a plus in my book
Was Kristen supposed to look and sound awkward in the first movie? Cause if she was, then ya, she is a great actress. If not, well... she's got some work to do then...
