Dominic Patten at TheWrap.com is reporting that an inside source of his has confirmed that Breaking Dawn, the sequel to The Twilight Saga: New Moon and Eclipse (and, obviously, Twilight) is a go for production.
Though no official sources are cited, the author claims that he has inside information to that effect. Says he,
With the sequel to the blockbuster hit "New Moon" now filming in Vancouver and its sequel, "Eclipse," already deep in the planning stages, an individual close to the production has told TheWrap that work on the fourth and final in the series, "Breaking Dawn," will start in late spring 2010.
Summit Entertainment spokesman Paul Pflug declined to confirm or deny the report, saying only, "Summit has no comment on that rumor at this time."
The planning for "Twilight" IV means that the blockbuster series based on Stephenie Meyer's popular vampire drama has come to dominate the production schedule of Summit Entertainment.
It also means that the obsessive fan base of the movies can expect to revel in no fewer than three full-length "Twilight Saga" films -- going from November of this year through the end of 2010.
But a Summit executive who declined to be identified said that there was no production schedule for "Breaking Dawn," and no current plans to shoot in Vancouver. (Full story available here)
As we all well know, until Summit Entertainment officially says so, we don't know for sure - yet, most Twilight fans really want to see Breaking Dawn make its way to the big screen (with actors Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, Taylor Lautner, Ashley Greene, Nikki Reed, Peter Facinelli, Kellan Lutz, Jackson Rathbone, and Elizabeth Reaser in tow), so perhaps this is a glimmer of hope?

Unless something major happens, I cannot imagine them NOT making Breaking Dawn into a movie. It will certainly be a challenge for them to translate onto screen. But, other than that, I just don't see why it wouldn't happen.
Our fingers are crossed that the rumor is true! BD is the capstone to the series. If money is Summit's concern, why are they worried? The fan base more than supports the making of BD and Summit's money would return to them in heaps. If they are concerned about their production schedule being dominated by Twilight, I ask them, "What better moneymaker do you have on the agenda?" Good heavens Summit! Strike while the iron is hot!
I am sure they will do all of the books. They wouldn't leave the millions of fans short of any of the films. In that industry it is all about the money and look how much Twilight has brought in, even now weeks after the DVD was released. Each movie is going to get bigger and bigger, I just hope that they make it as close to the book as possible and not leave out the important parts Breaking Dawn was a really good book with a lot of information. BIG INFO! I wouldn't stress about them not making it, they will!
I should probably clerify what I meant by the money thing. Im not saying the Actors and Actresses are all about the money and fame but Summit and all the other business ends of making movies are all about the money. The only way they would stop is if the lead characters back out, I doubt they will.
As a huge LOTR fan, I was ultimately happy that the three films *started* at 3 hours, and that the extended editions added an extra 20, 30, and 45 minutes for parts I, II, and III, respectively.
So I was somewhat saddened that Twilight was chopped for time as much as it was. For instance, the deleted scene where Edward/Bella walked out of her house to his truck headed to the baseball game IMNSHO should have been left in the movie. Neither my wife nor I realized that when he was putting the cap on her head that they were just outside of her Dad's house. Overall we felt that about 5 of the deleted scenes could have enhanced the viewing experience by being left in. But I am also aware how much theater owners complain when a longer running time results in one less showing per day; it costs them money.
However, in that same vein I would like to see remaining Twilights have longer run-times. It will make for a much smoother story. The over-dub of Kristin's voice speaking the thoughts that are so detailed in the book really works, so I wouldn't be upset with more of that as a large part of the longer run-time.
Whatever the final products, I can't wait to see them on the big screen.
I agree with Todd. More of the book should have made it to the screen. I also enjoyed Kristen's voice over work. If they wanted to make more money, make the movie longer and stick closer to the book. I would've seen it more times in the theater had that been the case. It always seems to be a balancing act between creativity and money, isn't it?
I really hope this comes true! Breaking Dawn is the most important book of the saga! It's the begining of a new life for Bella and the happy ending we're waiting for! Come on! The fans are willing to stay 3 hours just to see the movie but they should stick close to the book. I love Twilight the movie but when I read the book I was a little dissapointed of all the changes they made!! Summit will win a lot of money and prestige if they make these 4 movies. I think they're waiting to get Eclipse out and see how it goes and then take the decision...Anyway they should hear our plead and make Breaking Dawn!
I too agree with Todd. The film could have been much longer than it was to get all the little details.
I saw all the three LOTR films at the cinema and felt that that time was satisfying for the story. New Moon I'm sure would be able to last for three hours.
I would quite happily sit through a well-done series of films for this saga. However, I do wonder how they will ever make Breaking Dawn PG13, if indeed, they intend to keep the entire series on that level??? I understand the fan base is quite broad, but I think having that pg13 rating will hurt the subject matter. IMHO. :-) Don't get me wrong, I'm not advocating blood, guts and explicit sex scenes (hmmmm..... give me a brief Edward moment here, please LOL); however, I found Breaking Dawn to be somewhat more explicit than the others on a number of levels. In retrospection, I think it's my favourite of the series.
It would be a dream come true for all Twilight saga fans if Summit film Breaking Dawn - it should break all records no doubt! The book presents a few challenge - first is finding a baby that looks like Rob Pattinson, second is Rob Pattinson getting used playing a daddy when he said in one of his interviews that he doesn't like children at all but I guess he's a very nice person and professional actor that he wouldn't say no to this task as required.
All books got me so excited but Breaking Dawn was the book I loved most - it contained a lot of the important stories that completed Edward and Bella's love for each other.
I wouldn't mind if the film is even 5 hours long - it would be worth every minute!
Robert Pattison is no doubt the best & sexiest vampire that ever walked this planet! He's beautiful, talented, sexy and down to earth with a lovely sense of humour - frighteningly perfect (almost)!
Concern has been expressed about the explicit scenes from Breaking Dawn (the honeymoon and Renesmee's birth). IMHO, while both were significant events, both were also not the be-all, end-all of the story. I believe both events can be done so the explicit is left to the imagination while the greatest part of the movie can be devoted to the wedding, Rosalie & Bella bonding, Jacob, Seth and Leah forming a new pack, Bella's adjustment to her new lifestyle, the arrival of all the vampires, the preparation for battle, and the confrontation with the Volturi. A director of Chris Weitz's talent can pull off the grand requirements for this novel to become a movie...and I look forward to it making it to the big screen!
After three movies full of foreplay, heck, yeah, I want BD to be made so we can finally get the consummation of the great love between Edward and Bella before and after she becomes a vampire. That's worth making the movie in and of itself, not to mention it will be really cool seeing Bella feel like she's a super model and looking like a vampire and Edward loving every minute of it.
Heck yes! There's no way they shouldn't make BREAKING DAWN. My ONLY concern is making it in a short amount of time so that the actors' ages aren't that obvious. At some moments, you could tell Robert is NOT 17, look-wise. But he's really great in the movie, and Edward is beyond his years anyway. But they definitely should make BREAKING DAWN. And those "explicit" scenes in the book? They are not so descriptive. I mean, most of it is left to the imagination... Maybe that's what makes it so raunchy ;) But they should show the head frame completely DESTROYED: I can hear them in the theatre now... Teehee.
And I would sit in the movie theatre for three hours a movie if that's what it takes for accuracy! BREAKING DAWN is an important milestone that can't be ignored.
HECK YEA!they should make the movie for breaking dawn.that's the last movie so they should let us see what happens.i would be very upset if they didn't make the movie.i have to see Breaking Dawn!i really hope they make it!!!
all i have to say is they better make breaking dawn thats my favorite book out of the series and it does need to be about three hours long to get everything in and they dont need to leave out bellas first time, or her second this is what everybodys is waiting for and the birth of their baby, i cant wait.
breaking dawn is the best book of the series. they can't stop at eclipse.
and it better be rob, kristen and taylor, at the very least. ashley greene would be nice too.
