'Twilight' saga news wrap

Summit Entertainment

Some days, there are just so many different news stories associated with the Twilight series that a compressed and concise version is much more user friendly than a stream of separate updates.

So, here we go.

For starters, the cast of The Twilight Saga: New Moon has, as usual, hit the television airwaves in droves.

Ashley Greene appeared yesterday on the Regis And Kelly show, and she discussed what it is like for her to be a part of this grand franchise that is the Twilight saga films. She retraced her steps in the auditioning process, saying that she initially tried out for the part of Bella on several occasions but was called back to read for Alice. Good thing that worked out, huh? Ashley Greene has become a celebrated favorite for her work in that role, and many fans find her to deliver a spot-on performance of the, well, enthusiastic Alice Cullen. Twilight Lexicon found and posted this video of the appearance.

Yesterday also, New Moon star Chaske Spencer appeared on the Martha Stewart Show, where Stewart revealed that she loved the movie.

Finally, Michael Sheen appeared on the Bonnie Hunt Show yesterday as well to talk about his past, home, and mother. Particularly interesting is Sheen's discussion of his experience in meeting the Queen of England.

Speaking of television appearances, you may find it interesting that these sorts of New Moon cast showings have helped to bolster ratings for certain shows on a couple of noteworthy occasions. Take Jimmy Kimmel for instance. Having Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, Taylor Lautner, and Death Cab For Cutie all together on that program certainly foretold the viewership expectations for that particular segment, but who'd have guessed it'd "gave Kimmel his most-watched Friday evening in six months?" That's according to The Hollywood Reporter, who has the full details of that equation. A similar result was had by The Jay Leno Show, apparently, when "two weeks ago actors from New Moon appeared on two separate nights, turning the week into his best since mid-October" according to New York Entertainment. Anyone wondering what the ratings for Oprah were when Stephenie Meyer showed up? Hmmm . . .

Television ratings aren't the only things bitten by Twilight. According to a few end-of-the-year search engine wraps, Twilight and New Moon have taken over search interest, making top ten lists on most of the major portals. According to OK (who usually isn't cited here, but is rather non-gossipy in this particular instance), Twilight and Robert Pattinson were on top ten lists for "most searched movies" and "most searched celebrities" of the year. Yahoo states that Twilight was the second most searched term for 2009 on Yahoo as well. New Moon certainly made a splash on Google's lists as well. Anyone surprised? Thought not . . . Moving right along.

Know that the Twilight TV rumors are a falsity? Good. But just in case, Twilight Lexicon has a bit of rumor control on-point that you'll want to see.

In other news, Death Cab for Cutie has spoken up about their enjoyment of New Moon-related success. "I was at the premiere two nights ago and it was great. The movie is awesome," DCFC guitarist Chris Walla told MTV

Now that The Twilight Saga: New Moon's soundtrack is history (making history, that is), it's certainly no surprise that others are beginning to talk about The Twilight Saga: Eclipse. Adam Lambert from American Idol fame seems to think that one of his songs might belong on that album.

 Thoughts?

Robert Pattinson did an interview with MTV recently where he talked about how he relates to (and characteristics which he shares with) his New Moon character Edward Cullen, saying "I guess stubbornness, in some ways about some things. He's pretty self-righteous too. And I guess I get quite obsessive about things — possessive as well, I think."

Finally, and this is great . . . A new poster for Remember Me with Robert Pattinson and Lost star Emilie de Ravin has surfaced.

You might recall when the first official teaser for the film came out earlier this month, showing in the preview section for The Twilight Saga: New Moon as well opening weekend. The trailer was accompanied by new images of the film from Summit Entertainment, and many fans of Pattinson were very pleased with how the film looks to be shaping up.

Any thoughts on this poster? Is this a movie you'll be seeing in March (the revised release date for the film)? Comment below and let us know!

Hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving Day weekend and are settling up for a great winter holiday break!

I will definitely be seeing Remember Me. It actually looks good, but as I've been telling my friends, it just might be because of my "Rob goggles". Anything with him in it is starting to look good to me.

Amanda - have you noticed at the end of the trailer, where the credits are shown - that it credits Rob P. as a producer? What exactly does a producer do, as opposed to an executive producer? Do they help write? ??

Just wondering. Yes of course me, my 17 yr old niece, my 81 yr old mom, and sister in law will be there on opening night for the movie. It actually looks ok. Well, better than ok, it looks great!

Of course I'll be seeing Remember Me, I need my Rob fix in between New Moon and Eclipse. It really does look good, and I think I would see it even if Rob wasn't in it.

God forbid Adam Lambert ever shows up on a Twilight soundtrack. I couldn't stand his over-the-top, overly theatrical wailing on American Idol and nothing I’ve seen of him since (um..AMAs) do him any credit (and before anyone thinks I’m anti-gay, I’m not - I don’t like the antics of Britney/Miley/Lady Gaga/“insert celebrity name here” either). I love both movie soundtracks and having Lambert on the Eclipse one would just suck

On a positive note, I am looking forward to Remember Me. The trailer looked like it is going to be a good movie.

Chaske Spencer and Michael Sheen seem like such nice guys. I bet they're great to just hang out with.

I believe Remember Me will prove to a lot of people that Robert can actually act - in addition to being a great face to stare at! I watch The Haunted Airman and he was great in that movie.

As far as Adam Lambert goes I hope the folks at Summit know enough to not let that freak anywhere near the franchise. He is disgusting - especially after his antics on the AMA the other night!

I will definitely be seeing Remember Me on opening night. I've seen most of Rob's movies & TV roles, and he's always good. I like the new poster, but it's interesting that Emilie's pretty face isn't shown. I wouldn't be too happy if I were her!

As for Adam Lambert, I don't usually care to watch anyone making out or faking sex acts on stage. However, I'd have to hear the song to see if it fits with Eclipse.

I love Adam Lambert. He's sex on a stick in real life like EC is in my head. And poor Rob can't hold a candle to AL's interviewing skills. His talking about Twilight (and his biting of Catherine Hardwick) is part of what made me give in to my mom's assertions that I should read the books.

That being said... no one deserves to be on the album unless the music fits.

LOL - "Rob goggles." I definitely have the same ocular condition!

I will definitely be seeing Remember Me - looks more PG-13 and up rated, and will definitely deal with more adult issues - the reporters who tell Rob that Remember Me is a role like Edward Cullen definitely don't know what they are talking about - that is why he seems to blow them off when they mention it. Look forward to seeing more of Rob in the movies.

Honestly - it's all about getting a Rob fix between Twilight saga movies. Seriously, the man could star with Lassie or Pee Wee Herman and I'd go see it. That's what the Remember Me poster communicates. I did notice that E dR's photo is obscured...However, to be able to kiss RPattz and get paid for it would be well worth having one's photo obscured on a poster.

In film, a Producer is the equivalent of a corporate project manager (with vested interest). They are responsible for budget, hiring the director, actors, working on the screenplay in pre-production or while shooting, and a long list of other necessary pieces to the puzzle. When a film has multiple producers they share in the responsibilities. When an actor is listed as a producer, it can be for one or many reasons, including written in their contract so they have creative license to negotiate line changes while shooting, for marketing with press junkets, and most often, they've made a financial contribution to the budget to make sure the film gets made. Thus, an actor/producer also gets a share of the profits and any industry awards.
