Long ago, in a far-away time, there used to be this thing called "parenting..." Oh, wait, it still exists, even in the time of Twilight, despite what the father of Des Moines, Iowa's biting kid contends. Says, the Des Moines Register, "When police contacted the boy's father, he said that his son didn't mean to hurt anyone and that he was biting other students because of the movie Twilight."
I seem to remember Beavis & Butthead being at the receiving end of pointed fingers for children burning rugs in school. The teen in this case, 13 years old, went around school biting 11 students between February and March, and is now receiving judicial attention for his actions.
The Twilight series, however, is not to blame. Just ask any Twilight Mom. There are plenty of happy, healthy, successful families out there whose children don't go around biting people. So, before the blaming ensues, I'm here to say, it is not Twilight's fault.
What do you think? Do you think the success of Twilight is corrupting children into doing things like this boy? Comment below and let us know!

Okay I'm sorry but if your kid is 13 years old and is biting people, there is something a lot more serious going on than "he watched Twilight". I think the kid needs some therapy and the dad should be paying closer attention to his son.
Caitlin, all I have to say is...
AMEN.
Well said Caitlin, my son watched Twilight and you know what he said after it was over....Twilight is cool mom! Not - boy I can't wait to get back to school on Monday to bite me some people! Give me a break!
It has nothing to do with Twilight, it just happens that is what is in the media right now so the dad used it. My 8 year old watched the first part and when it started getting to graphic (for his age) he wasn't alowed to watch any more and he isn't biting anyone!
No, I think that little tyrant punk kids with pushover, lazy parents are getting away with things by blaming higher influences. And besides, as any Twilight freak will tell you, there's very little biting in the books to begin with (our adorable vamps are vegetarians, remember?).
I think these parents are the same people that sue McDonald's when they have a heart attack, and I don't buy it. Get off your butts, and discipline your little monster.
Hell No Twilight rules
hahahahahahahahahaha um NO! nothing to do with twilight, kid needs some help. or teen should i say.
Seems that parenting "should" include not only teaching right from wrong, but also the difference between fantasy and reality. This incident isn't based on anything from the Twilight saga other than someone's idea of what a vampire does. This may be one child who needs to watch less TV and have more reality-based activities.
That has nothing to do with twilight. I doubt the kid even read twilight since most guys think Twilight is stupid.
I remember when kids were getting injured and winding up in comas due to harry potter's release. It is very true, there is severe lack of parenting in many cases. You can't blame a movie, you gotta blame the parents for not monitoring and teaching the kids. A kid needs serious help if they go around biting other people.
not the movies fault at all! the one thing you learn from them is not to bite anyone! both my 9 yr old and 5 yr old love the movie.
It's easy to blame others when you're shrinking on your parenting skills. My seven year old son watched the movie and out of everything he got out of it biting wasn't one of them. This wasn't even a little kid. It was a teenager. Are you kidding me. Someone needs to bite that Dad for even making a such a stupid statement. Come on, do your job. Watch your kids and teach them right from wrong. Oh and I have two kids the other is 16 and I can say that other than my oldest one biting his Dad on the toe when he was a baby neither of them has ever bitten anyone. Stop blaming other people. If you have a teenager that's biting people than get him some help and yourself as well..
Are you kidding?! It seems there is always an excuse for everything these days except responsibility.
I bite people on a daily bases in the name of Twilight and they have no problem with it
Twilight in no way persuades people to go around biting. I 'll openly admit to being obsessed, but biting is whole different ballgame.
it's the kid's fault if he takes it way to far in biting people, not the books fault. Maybe the parents should watch what he reads/watches if he's that impressionable. There's got to be some deeper problem here if he's 13 years old and biting people because he read it in a very FICTIONAL book.
If the kid's going around biting people, he would have had problems even if Twilight never existed.
This parent can't act as if Twilight is the first vampire movie to ever be released! Blaming Twilight is ridiculous. I'm a middle-school teacher and almost every student I have is obsessed with the series. Do they go around biting each other? NO! This is just another parent trying to justify their children's bad or inappropriate behavior is not a result of their horrible parenting skills. Here's a thought: it's YOUR fault Dad, not Twilight. Your kid's a freak because you don't pay attention to him!
Sure there may be other things going on to insue this boy to do this...
but having teenagers running around biting other in the midst of a hype of a vampire themed series/movie aimed at teenagers?
a connection is definitely there.
Im sorry but........
THAT KID IS INASANE! GOING AROUND BITING PEOPLE?!
The boy is old enough to know better. There are a lot of parents who will use any excuse instead of stepping up to the plate and admit thier child has done something wrong. Some parents need to quit looking for excuses for thier children's behaivor and should start disciplining them for thier actions.
When I raised my children if a child bit someone, the parent would be bite them back, thus teaching them this was not acceptable. I wonder how this boy would have felt if someone bit him. And I am sure the parents would have been furious as well.
well, he bit people in the name of twilight. It's not as though everybody is doing it, but he's doing it because he wants to. If he saw other vampire movies and didn't bite people until the Twilight thing kicked in, then it's definitely because of Twilight.
Besides, I've heard cases in which other people were almost killed by fans of Twilight. Some have almost had their throat slit, bricks thrown at their heads, beaten, sexually assaulted, and other cases. This is just one of the many where something is wrong with a fan of Twilight.
everybody knows that twilight is gay
Please ... there have been Vampire subcultures since way before Twilight. And on the contrary the Cullen clan is against biting people. Get a grip ... the boys parents need to control their child.
Now I'm ot BLAMING Twiilight, but you can't ignore that it might be part of it. It definetely influneced him to do it. A child who disliked Twilight wouldn't do that. A child who had a strange obession with the series would, most likely. I've heard of Twilight fans do crazier things, along with attacking those who say they don't like Twilight.
