'Twilight' news that was eclipsed by 'New Moon' release

The Twilight Saga: New Moon had a big weekend, in case you hadn't heard (see here for more on that). In the midst of the New Moon blitz, though, there were a few other Twilight saga-related stories (aside from the vacuous usuals) that you might've missed.

For starters, Robert Pattinson now has his leading lady for his spring shoot Bel Ami - and it's not Nicole Kidman. Uma Thurman will tackle the role of "a woman who is extremely involved and connected in the goings-on of Parisian society [who] helps [George] Duroy [, Pattinson's character,] in his ascent, later becoming his wife," according to The Hollywood Reporter. Also according to THR, Kristin Scott Thomas has joined the cast as "a socialite who falls for Duroy, becoming clingy in the process." The film will be Declan Donnellan's directorial debut.

Speaking of directorial debuts, The Twilight Saga: New Moon and The Twilight Saga: Eclipse star Nikki Reed is reportedly making hers with a music video for friend Sage Dill in the near future.

Meanwhile, um, did you hear what the Vatican had to say about The Twilight Saga: New Moon? No comment. What can be commented on, however, is the fortitude with which Twilight Lexicon has tackled The Twilight Saga: Eclipse rating rumors here. Nicely done.

Speaking of Eclipse, Kellan Lutz talked about the film, among other things, in an interview with North by Northwestern, saying "And with the third one it’s dark, edgy. David Slade has such a mastermind way of looking at that script."

Speaking of Twilight saga directors, remember when Jamie Campbell Bower put forth the idea of Alice In Wonderland director Tim Burton for The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn? Well, he responded to an inquiry about that same topic to MTV, saying "He's being biased, because I worked with him on 'Sweeney Todd.'"

Back to Eclipse, Melissa Rosenberg talked to MTV also about The Twilight Saga: Eclipse and some of the background fans can expect to see on our favorite Cullen characters.

In other news, the "Cullen House" from The Twilight Saga: New Moon and The Twilight Saga: Eclipse has apparently gone up for sale and Twilight was the image used on little baggies in a recent heroin bust (whaaaat?).

Also, MTV picked up on a great video of how Twilight might've ended the story with the very first book and film - rather hilarious, actually.

Also, the popular British television BBC-2 show TMi offered its own The Twilight Saga: New Moon parody.

Over the weekend, too, The Twilight Saga: New Moon was noted to have taken over social networking (wonder why) in a very exhaustive way. See here for more on that.

Phew. Lots of news that kinda flew under the radar, huh?
