Whether or not The Twilight Saga: New Moon will take the number one spot in overall sales for the year 2009 is yet to be seen.
It currently resides, according to Box Office Mojo, at the number five spot (below Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen, Harry Potter And The Half-Blood Prince, Up, and The Hangover) in domestic grosses. Internationally, the film is in seventh place in overall overseas sales for the year (behind Ice Age: Dawn Of The Dinosaurs, Harry Potter 6, 2012, Transformers 2, Up, and Angels & Demons).
In other words, despite the unbelievable support of Twilight fans, it'd be a tough row to hoe to reach the very top. Sigh.
However, there's some good news, too. According to AC, current calculations show The Twilight Saga: New Moon sits atop the top ten list for highest grossing dramas of 2009. Also high on the list are Gran Torino, Slumdog Millionaire, Disney's A Christmas Carol, The Blind Side, and Public Enemies.
Larry Richman of Pro Networks reports that New Moon's "current worldwide cumulative total is $583.2M." Those figures are nothing to frown upon, as he points out. "This achievement is made all the more spectacular in that the film has only been in release for 20 days in what is traditionally a slow box office season. All other films in the top 6 opened in the May-June summer blockbuster period."

the reason why new moon is making money is because of twilight movie people wants to see the continuation of the saga,i myself has gone banana waiting for a year to see bella and company,twilight movie for me is better than newmoon but the publicity in twilight is lame i dindt even know that it exist ,i saw twiligt 10 times compare to newmoon 5 only...
Hey New Moon is a great movie and a great book. What do you expect? Of course it's gonna make BANK!
