Robert Pattinson in 'The Twilight Saga: New Moon' - Summit Ent.
Chalk it up to whatever you will, but The Twilight Saga: New Moon, according to the latest figures, has brought in a whopping $276,566,062 domestically and $636,666,062 worldwide.
According to Reuters, Hollywood - despite the year being one dubbed one of "economic turmoil" by many - will enjoy a $10 billion year, and New Moon played a heavy hand in that with its staggering intake.
[V]ampire romance "The Twilight Saga: New Moon" had the third biggest movie opening of all time for the United States and Canada.
While the traction for New Moon is slowing quite a bit as time progresses, the film is still faring pretty well in theaters (having drawn in over $1 million on Tuesday alone), and DVD sales will surely be unheard of for the film.
Needless to say, The Twilight Saga: New Moon is certainly raising the stakes as far as box office anticipations for the franchise and its audience are concerned. It's just nice to see the motions being made acknowledged in this fashion, isn't it?

It would still be making a few million a week if the theaters had not pretty much yanked it. Last week New Moon still sat at #5 in the rankings. A whole group of us were going to go see it together on Christmas night after the family stuff concluded or during the holiday while we were all together and we found ONE showing at 10:30 pm on any day PERIOD within 50 miles of Annapolis MD. We are not happy at all. Whats with this???? This is just one more example of the industry trying to downgrade one of the most highest grossing films. This to try to encourage better takes for others films still lagging behind expected revenues. SO WHEN THEY STATE THAT NEW MOON IS NOW AT THE BOTTOM IN THE RANKINGS YOU KNOW WHY...ITS NOT EVEN BEING SHOWN AND WHERE IT IS BEING SHOWN IT AT AN CRAZY HOUR FOR MOST TO ATTEND.
Got something to say?
