Oh, the humanity!
We all knew that The Twilight Saga: New Moon panel was bound to cause a bit of a ruckus at the San Diego Comic-Con festival this year. Though some underestimated the staying power of Twilight fans, they have aptly been disproven already, hours before the panel is slated to even begin.
According to MTV,
The most dedicated fans started lining up two days early just to make sure they could get a front row seat to see Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, Taylor Lautner and other stars of the movie. As the final night before the big panel begins now, there are already more than 500 people camping out to attend the most anticipated panel at Comic-Con.
And there are pictures to prove it. Fansite communities across the nation have gathered to this place and are tweeting like crazy with their pictures of the scene. Twilight Lexicon took this photograph of the hundreds in line, and will continue to tweet with their pictures and updates here. They will also host a podcast on the event this Friday at 7:30 p.m.
Several other celebrated fansites will be at the event and Twittering as well, such as TwiFans, Twilighters Anonymous, His Golden Eyes, Twilight Facebook, RobPattzNews, and Twilight Source.
The event's popularity is a no-nonsense combination of many factors.
Firstly, a few choice members of the cast (some mentioned above) will be in attendance, and the panel will include a showing of a clip from The Twilight Saga: New Moon. In addition, "The Twilight Experience" will be taking place with a screening of Twilight with an introduction by several castmembers as well. Finally, new pieces of New Moon memorabilia are popping up all over the festival, and many pieces have already been spotted (see below)!
Last year, it was reported that about six thousand Twilight fans attended the 2008 Comic-Con festival, and this year, similar numbers are expected.
The panel for The Twilight Saga: New Moon will take place between 1:45-2:45 p.m. in Hall H of the auditorium.
