'The Twilight Saga: Eclipse' trailer screencap
Earlier today when the trailer for The Twilight Saga: Eclipse was revealed, a list of quotes from the video was mentioned, and now it's time to put those quotes up against those of Stephenie Meyer's Eclipse.
By reviewing the words used by the cast in the film as compared with those passages present in the text, one can see that the words are quite resemblant of the original quotes.
Trailer: "Isabella Swan, I promise to love you every moment of forever," Robert Pattinson as Edward Cullen.
Book: "Isabella Swan? I promise to love you forever — every single day of forever. Will you marry me?" Edward Cullen, page 460.
Trailer: "She's still human," and "the Volturi don't give second chances," Dakota Fanning as Jane.
Book: "We don’t make exceptions,” she said. "And we don’t give second chances. It’s bad for our reputation. Which reminds me [. . .] Caius will be so interested to hear that you’re still human, Bella," Jane, page 578.
Trailer: "Why are you so against me becoming like you?" Kristen Stewart as Bella Swan.
Book: "You don’t want me to be a vampire." "No, I don’t," he said softly, and then he waited for more. "That’s not a question," he prompted after a moment. "Well . . . I was worrying about . . . why you feel that way," Bella and Edward, pages 272-73.
Trailer: "I know the consequences of the decision you're making. After a few decades, everyone you know will be dead," Robert Pattinson as Edward Cullen.
Book: "You could do so much better, Bella. I know that you believe I have a soul, but I’m not entirely convinced on that point, and to risk yours [. . .] For me to allow this – to let you become what I am just so that I’ll never have to lose you – is the most selfish act I can imagine," Edward Cullen, page 273.
Trailer: "You wouldn’t have to change for me, Bella. I’m in love with you, and I want you to pick me instead of him," Taylor Lautner as Jacob Black.
Book: "I’m in love with you, Bella. Bella, I love you. And I want you to pick me instead of him. I know you don’t feel that way, but I need the truth out there so that you know your options. I wouldn’t want a miscommunication to stand in our way," Jacob Black, page 327. "Just think about how it could be, Bella,” he urged in a soft, eager voice. “You wouldn’t have to change anything for me. You know Charlie would be happy if you picked me. I could protect you just as well as your vampire can – maybe better. And I could make you happy, Bella," Jacob Black, page 333.
Trailer: "You have to consider the idea that I might be better for her than you are," Taylor Lautner as Jacob Black.
Book: "You love her enough that you have to see the advantages of that plan. She thinks you’re very unselfish . . . are you really? Can you consider the idea that I might be better for her than you are?" Jacob Black, page 502.
Trailer: "I'll protect you no matter what," Robert Pattinson as Edward Cullen.
Book: "I won’t let anything happen to you," Edward Cullen, page 366.
Trailer: "You don’t know what you’re getting yourself into," Kristen Stewart as Bella Swan.
Book: "Jacob, I’m begging you. Stay with me," Bella Swan, page 523.
Trailer: "I'm going to fight for you until your heart stops beating," Taylor Lautner as Jacob Black.
Book: "Until your heart stops beating, Bella. I’ll be here — fighting. Don’t forget that you have options," Jacob Black, page 330.
The only one I couldn't find a direct counterpart for was "Edward, she found us," by Kristen Stewart as Bella. For the most part, though, so far so good right?
Just thought this was something you'd all enjoy seeing or perhaps find helpful.

"Edward, she found us," by Kristen Stewart
Was never quoted in the book. It is just taken for granted per se. He tears apart the tent and she asks Edward who? He says it is victoria.
My only guess for the "Edward, she found us" (and I don't have my book with me) is when Victora finds Bella & Edaward in their spot away from the main fight the rest of the Cullens and the wolves are engaging in, when it was just them & Seth there at the tent.
NO, Booo to the scriptwriter. there is just so much more to the lines, so much dialog,emotions, character driven motives, that is lost in her paraphrase of the book. Everything is lost, and the lines come off corny in the trailer. However it looks great, gorgeously put together.
I've had faith in David Slade since day one and the trailer proves it justified so far!
Don't know where in the book, but I remember that Edward and Bella are in Charlie's kitchen. Bella mentions that she is tired all of the pretending for her fathers sake, and Edward said something like, "It gets easier. After a few decades, everyone you know is dead. Problem solved."
I don't love the way that they chop up the dialouge in the book for these movies. The lines just dont make sense out of context. Like the meadow scene in Twilight. Disaster in the movie.
So much closer to the book than Twilight, I mean New Moon was closer to the book than Twilight was but I really have high hopes for Eclipse being closer to the book than any of those two!!

Omg, it was great, I love that it is so near to the book. Just by watching the scenes I knew where we were. It looks 100 times better than new moon did at this point. I already put my request for the 30th so I can see the movie all day long. I can't wait

The 'She founds us' one is in the tent, when Edward sends Seth with the others and Bella realized Victoria was there...
I think the "Edward she found us" is probably when Victoria and Riley find them during the big fight at the end.

This doesn't sound right to me, the background from that scene in the trailer doesn't seem like is the forest when Bella is trying to stop him from going to fight.
I think this trailer quote is from the graduation party, when Bella is trying to get Jacob not to get involved. If it is from the party scene, then there is no exact counter part, but a full conversation turned into one or maybe a couple of sentences.

@Landy: I thought of that too... Thanks for pointing that out. I read that portion of the chapter closely as I was literally sitting there scouring through the book (LOL). You're right. There was no direct counterpart in that portion of the scene. Sigh. Oh well ;)
I am VERY, very annoyed at the slight change in the proposal quote.....
it's a vital part of the book, even the series, they should have kept it word for word!
I thought that the "She's found us" would be more along the part of the book when Bella finally realizes that her missing blouse and other items were related to Victoria, not the Voltori or some random newborn. I could be wrong, but that's what I thought of when I first heard it in the trailer.
Why they always have to change the remarkable lines in the book? It's the reason why this is all about and that's why we love it, cause SM was brilliant. Why paraphrase?!!
I like the beginning of Edward's proposal! It's nearly word 4 word. Don't forget guys that this is ADAPTATION of a book. And Although we all love the books not every line of the book is gonna be in the movie.Through I gotta admit when it comes 2 details David Slade is the man! After reading this article I realize that nearly every quote is almost like the book! I can't wait 2 see another trailer!!

I think I have to see the film first, this is still a trailer so I don't know what has been said before or after the words. But I am excited and can't wait till I can go watch it in the cinema!

That can go along with Edward's reasoning as to why he doesn't want her to become a vampire. A part of me doesn't get his reasoning her, because we all have to do that as humans too...I think the staying away and lying would be harder (I know that is what he is referencing in the quote above as getting easier)
When Bella says she found us, that made me think of her news at graduation about how she figured out that Victoria is behind the attacks. or it can just be putting to words what is going on in her head when Victoria finds their hide-out on the mountain top
