'The Twilight Saga: Eclipse' - Summit Ent.
Last week, The Twilight Saga: Eclipse director David Slade let everyone know that the film was in "phase 1" of "director's cut" screenings with the film studio, Summit Entertainment.
As noted back then, that screening would probably not be of the final cut, and edits would likely be required by the studio for one purpose or another.
Today, David Slade confirmed the fact that edits are now happening, saying "Cutting like crazy, the film is getting closer working through the weekends again, adding more EDWARD!"
Adding more Edward (portrayed by Robert Pattinson)? Probably a good idea. While The Twilight Saga: New Moon was expected to have less of "Edward Cullen" in the picture and more of the werewolves (namely, "Jacob Black" by Taylor Lautner), Eclipse is - literally - a different story.
Back in December, Slade promised fans that "Edward seems to be a really strong presence, the intensity of the love story & rivalry between Jacob is in the driving seat," but he also stated that there was a "great state of balance" and that "it's all even with the action sequences."
Looks like the studio cuts are beckoning the weight of the balance to favor the relationship end . . . maybe? Any other thoughts on the message?

interesting, I didn't like new moon. I hope Slade will do better job. Frist part was very good.
So glad the Cullens are more present in Eclipse. What is even better is Jacob is more in his Wolf form.
Romance? You mean the studio is going to stop trying to get a male audience and cater to the females that love the story? How bold! They might have finally caught on.

Wasn't a huge fan of New Moon (as a film) - bit of a soap opera. Hoping Eclipse and have no problem with the "adding more Edward/RPatz" bit! :) But bring on the last ... and best in the series ... Breaking Dawn! Can't wait!

That sucks. So David is going to spoil the true story in order to put more Robward for no reason? Way to sell-out your integrity to please a much of suits David. Why stop at that, just make it 2 hours of Robward sitting on a bed starring at his own reflection and showing off his butt. This movie is going to be shlt.
Yes...Please more Edward/Robert...and Bella/Kristen...the love between Edward and Bella that's what I want...and More of the other Cullens.
Good in this one jacob is much more in his wolf form.
And Mona did you read Eclipse Edward is in It a lot, Did you want your Jacob more...It was enough in New Moon...but don't worry you will still get see your Wolf in Eclipse.

:D :D :D :D bring on LOTS OF EDWARD of course he is staying true to the story edward is PRESENT throughout eclipse so all the Robward haters can feel wotever they want to. I am TEAM EDWARD ALL THE WAY however i do not disrespect jacob or taylor for that matter so team jacob supporters shouldnt either :$ it is very anti the twilight team spirit!!!!!!

I really hope Mona is wrong and Eclipse won't be two hours of Robward siiting on a bed starring at his own reflection and showing off his butt. I will say if they wanted to add that to the DVD extras though.....I'd watch it...LOL
i hope they stick to the book. i have always wanted that. still hasnt completely happen. it should be screentime wise like this(most to least):Bella/Jacob/Edward about the same time B/E a litte more. remember its a love story with a little action they put in more action but its not an action movie. then Alice then rest of the cullen most rosalie/jasper becus their stories, then wolf pack a little time than cullens then charlie then human friends most angela then riley then victoria then newborns most bree then volturi most jane. i am really worried becus i read the scripted and they screwed up. i know its not the final one but...still. i hope they dont screw up. i was disappointed in the last two films. twilight had the emotional but didnt really follow the story and new moon had no emotion but followed the book more. and it looked chop up and miss so many important parts. PLEASE SUMMIT DONT MISS IT UP FOR ME. OR ANYONE ELSE.
THANK GOD! - More Edward! Eclipse is about Edward eclipsing Jacob, folks! Face it, Twilight dollars spent is all about the love story about EDWARD and Bella. Much respect for Kristen,Taylor and the entire cast, but truthfully, I'm spending my money to see ROB. He is a brilliant young actor - and for anyone who doesn't know his depth as an actor should get Robeducated (or Edwarducated) and watch him act his English @$$ off in Haunted Airman, How To Be and Little Ashes. AND he can whip out a mean wizard wand in the HP films, too! This guy has real acting range from drama to comedy to love stories. And what actor has the myriad of facial expressions this guy has? No one.

Er, actually TRUE story is about Edward and Bella... But filmmakers added scenes with newbornes.
Why does one assume that adding more Edward is for no reason? How do you know right now what is in the film? You don't. So don't assume something you don't know about. No director is going to please all fans. Please...this is a movie adaptation of the book. You are never going to have all the things everyone wants. Just not gonna happen. The key points to the story are what matters. I liked Twilight but thought New Moon was so much better. The ending...loved it!
Also, there is no such thing as too much Rob/Edward.
I, for one, am extremely glad that they are finally remembering that It's Edward and not Jacob that make the story in Eclipse. It was always about Edward/Bella and never about Jacob. If the director had gotten that messed up, I wouldn't even bother watching that movie. I think Greta got it right, people fell in love with Edward/Bella and Edward's presence should be felt more in eclipse. Jacob does get his shots in (tent scene) but let's face it, we all know there is no team Jacob!
Maybe the studio finally figured out that it's an edward and Bella story that fans want to see. There's a reason new moon didn't bring people back again and again like twilight did too little Edward and too much wolves.
Great! More Edward means better movie. And even though I love action this is a LOVE story. Guys have their transformers and other movies that they go on masses to watch people kick ass, can't we have something on our own that is successful? Don't screw a good thing Summit...and gives us the goddamn trailer!!!
I disagree with the person who said New Moon had too little of Edward.....did you not read the book?!?!? Edward was NOT the focal point in the book, and I personally think New Moon was 110 times better than Twilight. I personally don't like Catherine Hardwick's style....just me though.
Amanda, the main idea in New Moon book is to show how strong is bond between Bella & Edward. No one can survive alone. No matter if Edward isn't there because Bella thinks about him every moment (even before possible kissing with Jacob).
The movie was absolutely ignoring this.
I really don't care if there would be less Edward presence at screen. I care about quality of scenes - and Chris Weitz made it awfull.
And I don't like tweet about adding more Edward. He already must be in plenty of scenes according to book.
It sounds like Slade was going the same way as Chris Weitz in New Moon - very carefully building up scenes between Bella and Jacob and careless slapdash between Bella and Edward.
I rally dont care how much Edward they put in this movie as long as the meaningful scenes between Edward and Bella are there. I dont care much about the wolves, they are so not my favorite part of any of the books, the only part that matters is the bond that bella and edward share. I dont think that it was very well portrayed in the last two movies. Just my opinion.
Well Yeah! They better add more Edward or I won't be going to see it more than once!! I mean who really care's about seeing a bunch of guys walk around with their shirts off and spray tans (You can see the tan lines on some of the guys) anyways. I mean yeah I thought Taylor had a hott bod but since all of those pic's of Kellan Lutz came out earlier this week it's safe to say Taylors bod isn't all that hott anymore. I mean the real focus of the story is Edward and Bella's relationship anyways and the love they share together. I mean that what the book's were and that's how the movies should be too.
I went to see Twilight over 10 times in the theater. I went to see New Moon once. That is what is going to happen with Eclipse if Summit doesn't wise up and realize that the fans do not want or care about the character of Jacob Black. This story is about Edward and Bella. Jacob was thrown in there to add a bit of tension in the books but everyone who read them realize that Bella belongs with Edward and this story is about them. The more Edward they add the better, but they shouldn't have had to add any to begin with. Rob should have been the main character and focus from the beginning!
I think the director got into the battle/newborns and is now fitting back in more of the love story. I don't think Team Jacob was the issue. I'm excited. Eclipse was my favorite book and I'm hoping it to be my favorite movie. We shall see.
So that Ang Kidd has no idea what they are talking about Eclipse is about all three characters not just Edward and in my opinion the less Edward the better. I read the books many times and she should so be with Jacob but she's stupid so that's all I have to say. Team Jacob all the way! :)
