'The Twilight Saga: Eclipse' composer announced

'The Twilight Saga: Eclipse' - Summit Ent.

Back in December, The Twilight Saga: Eclipse director David Slade remarked on the progress he and his team had made in acquiring a composer for the film's score.

Been quite a week, we almost have our composer, all fingers crossed for some great news soon.

Now, it seems, that composer has been announced! Drumroll, please. . .

According to MovieScore Magazine, Eclipse's composer will be Howard Shore.

Shore has served as the composer for dozens and dozens of films, including (but most definitely not limited to) The Fly, Big, The Silence Of The Lambs, Single White Female, Prelude To A Kiss, Sliver, Mrs. Doubtfire, The Client, Ed Wood, Se7en, Philadelphia, Crash, That Thing You Do!, High Fidelity, Dogma, Panic Room, The Lord Of The Rings: The Fellowship Of The Ring, The Lord Of The Rings: The Two Towers, The Lord Of The Rings: The Return Of The King, The Aviator, The Departed, A History Of Violence, Doubt, Eastern Promises, and, most recently, Edge Of Darkness.

Shore has also won three Oscars and received dozens of further accolades for his work. He follows as the third composer in the Twilight series (behind Carter Burwell for Twilight and Alexandre Desplat for The Twilight Saga: New Moon).

Sounds great, huh (due pun)?

Anything will be better than New Moon. It's was horrible! I think the worst was the scene when Paul (wolf) and Jacob (wolf) fight... sounded VERY cheesy. I really liked Twilights soundtrack and score.

New Moon was my favorite score so far (LEAGUES beyond Twilight, contrary to what a lot of other fans believe, imo), so I can't wait to see how Howard Shore handles Eclipse.

Initially I liked New Moon's score better than Twilight, but recently I decided to take my hand at some Fan Fic and with a family running around the house sometimes music helps drown out distractions. In any case, the other day I put on the Twilight score and it REALLY helped set the mood. I then tried the New Moon score and it just didn't work as well. It made me really appreciate the Twilight score.

Bottom line... they both have their merits, just like the movies themselves. The next movie should prove interesting to experience the sound and feel that David wants us to have.

I have come to appreciate New Moon's sound track, however, my first impression was that it sounded too Beatle-like, too operatic/balletic, too hymn-like and overly dramatic. Rob's music is sorely missed in New Moon...huge mistake. I got used to it, but there are still songs that I simply click past. Not so with Twilight. I played it every day for a year going to and from work. That's phenominal, as I am not a teenager - and far, far from it. The first song pumped me up for the day and so on. Oh, btw - as I was enjoying New Moon - the score, it distracted me so much (pulled me back 9into the movie, that I missed my exit and ultimately got a speeding ticket. It's very heart wrenching. I appreciate the score quite a bit, but the music they chose after Jacob jumps out the the window to fight Paul was waaaayyyyy too Rin-Tin-Tin for me. I think Chris Weitz watched too many Saturday morning cowboy movies or something.

LotR had one of the best sound tracks I have ever heard. Since the Twilight series is getting more serious I think it will be nice to have a composer as talented as Howard Shore on board.

I wish Eclipse's score will be as good as Twilight!!! I think Carter Burwell did an awesome job... mood wise. I'm still trying to love New Moon's score, but ain't happening. I love both movies, each one in their own way... CAN'T WAIT FOR JUNE 30th!!

Here is a QUESTION: Why they don't use 'Bella's Lullaby' in every movie???? I'd like to hear some opinions about it...

@ Dani: I think that the reason they can't/won't use the original "Bella's Lullaby" is because Carter Burwell composed that song, therefore he owns that song. Summit may need permission to get use of that song again.

I really liked Carter Burwell, I think he did a fantastic job. Much better than Hardwicke did with the movie IMO. I liked Bella's Lullaby, but was always upset that it didn't have as much piano as described in the book. I guess I'm just a spoiled reader! I personally think Despalt's "The Meadow" was more Bella's Lullaby than the original.

I'm just excited to see what we get next!

I love Howard Shore, Evenstar from LOTR was beyond words! I really hope to hear some Coldplay somewhere in the mix since Steph wrote The Twilight Saga with them inspiring her in the background! That would be awesome!

Don't know why they just don't use Carter Burwell again. Twilight's soundtrack was so beautiful. New Moon's soundtrack was yawn inducing. Hope they haven't made another mistake.

WOW!! Howard Shore...what a "score" for the movie. I mean he is amazing, first class, just completely amazing. Practically a legend and his score for Lord of the Rings is just about the best movie score ever written. I am blown away. Desplat score was lousy. Carter Burwell's...perfect. But can't wait for Mr. Shore to bat clean up. Rock on!!

I have to admit, I'm in agreement with many of the other Twilight Saga fans. For me, the Twilight soundtrack is simply brilliant. The music is just so memorable and beautiful, I can almost see the parts of the film and the feelings of the characters when Im listening to it. New Moon is extremely disappointing for me. I find the majority of it a tad boring in comparison. Understandably everyone has different taste and who knows, maybe it'll grow on me. I would much prefer Carter to do the last two films, but Im looking forward to seeing what Howard beings to it. All being well he won't disappoint ;)
