When there's this much Twilight news, the prudent thing to do is just to wrap it up into one manageable portion.
For starters, some of The Twilight Saga: New Moon's soundtrack artists were featured in an interview with Vanity Fair recently.
Included in the interview were Alex Brown Church of Sea Wolf, Annie Clark (St. Vincent), and OK Go's Tim Norwind.
In the interviews, the three all discuss their involvement with the New Moon soundtrack.
Church stated that Sea Wolf's song, "The Violet Hour," was one that was likely to be involved in the birthday scene. Said he, "All I know is it’s going to be in a party scene … a house-party scene."
Clark, on other hand, did not know where her song with Bon Iver, "Roslyn," would fit into the album. Though, she did offer some insight into the mood of the song, saying that it is "a somber song, for sure, very aching, longing, and beautiful."
Norwind seemed to indicate that OK Go's song, "Shooting the Moon," would fit somewhere in the Jacob and Bella scenes. Said he, "It’s a montage scene. The song itself is a thoughtful, acoustic song, and the scene they’re using it for is a moment when you see the two kids flirting with each other for the first time."
The full interviews are available here.
The soundtrack was given a full review by Entertainment Weekly recently where they assigned the album a grade of A, saying to "[t]hink of New Moon as a sort of survey course in new-now-next rock: a mixtape with teeth." As Twilighters Anonymous found, EW had given the Twilight soundtrack an A- last year, saying it was "well-wrought goth lite: not so much hardcore bloodsucking as nicely black-nail-polishy."
The Twilight soundtrack's producer, Paul Katz, made news recently for his company's decision to step into the world of philanthropy. You can read more about that here.
Hot Topic, one of the retailers of both the Twilight and New Moon soundtracks, was recognized in an article recently for its substantial growth in this quarter. "We believe that as the company sees a pickup in traffic from New Moon purchases and a potentially strong Halloween," the publication says. What with the wealth of available merchandise just in their online store (see here, here, and here), it's no wonder, really.
Speaking of New Moon merchandise, a new product has just been released, and this time it's skins for your computer (that is, if you're a Dell owner because dude, it's a Dell). See here for more details.
Meanwhile, Summit Entertainment has just announced that there are new updates available on the Twilight Tracker application that was announced a few weeks ago. The update is free and updates speed and content on your application. It includes an updated news feed.
In other updates, Twilight, New Moon, and Eclipse screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg had an interview with SCIFI TV Zone recently where she discussed the process of penning the Twilight saga films. You can read more about the interviews and listen to them here.
Another Twilight parody (you might remember Twilite by Steve Jenner) is being released by the Harvard Lampoon, famed for their Tolkien parody Bored of the Rings. According to Tonic, the book is entitled Nightlight and will be released on November 3rd.
The book centers on Belle Goose (as opposed to Bella Swan), who moves to a new town and meets hottie computer nerd, Edwart Mullen. Even though Mullen has zero interest in girls, after witnessing events she believes to be "otherworldly," Goose convinces herself that Mullen must be a vampire. And don't expect glittering skin and superhuman strength -- Mullen's supernatural feats include not eating his Tater Tots at lunch and saving Goose from a flying snowball.
Lastly, but certainly not least of all in importance, Rachelle Lefevre has landed herself a new role across from Adrian Brody. See here for more details.
Phew, what a rush of news, eh? How about a little New Moon slideshow to get things back into focus (November 20th, November 20th, November 20th ...)?
