As coverage from Stephenie Meyer's fansite press junket continues to be revealed, more and more interesting details about the Twilight series creator's plans for the Saga become unveiled . . . and this one's a biggie.
TwiFans has released this audio clip from the junket, and it was Stephenie Meyer who brought up the issue of Midnight Sun.
"First question," she said, introducing the elusive topic. "I know it's what everyone cares about. I know that the right answer would be for me to say 'Oh yeah, it's done and it's coming out next month,' and I can't . . . that's not true. It's also not true that I've got a ton of work done on it and it's like that's what I'm working on . . . What's true is that I'm really burnt out on vampires, and I don't want to write it badly, so I want to wait until . . . I'm excited about the material again, I'm excited about Edward and that is something that's motivating, and you know when a storyline is keeping me up at night, when I wake up at four o'clock in the morning and think 'Yes! That is what should happen in this moment,' then that's when you know I can write with happiness. So, right now it feels like homework, it really does, and when things feel like homework they go very, very slowly for me. So, I mean it's still not a like a 'No, this isn't going to happen.' It's just, I want to do it when I can do it right."

At least we have that! It's my favourite book from the Saga, yet it's still half-told. I can't wait for her to get her motivation back, maybe we should start encouraging her in some way or another.
In other words "heck no". She just wrote a book about Bree Tanner that no one talks about and it's filled with vampires. How can you say you are burnt out from vampires and write a book about vampires. The Edward Bella story is complete, there is nothing left to add. She only wrote Midnight Sun for Robert Pattinson to understand his character better.
Really Stephenie?! You're burned out on vampires but you write about Bree? I think you just like having Midnight Sun to dangle in fans faces...
Midnight Sun, and the Bree Tanner Novella were written as character development exercises as well as many other tidbits she wrote and posted on her website, she wrote them way before they even were discussing the fact of Twilight being made into a movie, so yes she could very well be burnt out on writing about Vampires. She is going to finish it one day but when it feels right and I respect that and I will wait. you have to think there is new material to write, the story had not been told from Edwards perspective and there and holes in the story that need to be filled, he is not always with Bella so there is still a lot left to write, the whole story has not been told yet. It will be worth it when she is done and the story is complete.
She'll get it done one day, I can't wait for that day to come, but if it weren't for the you know what that leaked it in the first place, we'd probably be enjoying it already.
Plz plz Stephenie plz complete the book......Edward is my most fav. character.......n m dying to read Midnight Sun......at least we can hope......

Oh please sounds to me like an excuse cuz your making so much money you just dont want to write anymore. At least J.K rowling had the balls to say she didnt wanna write anymore. Geesh! Come'on now!
If she's going to write it I want it done when she's in the right frame of mind. I don't want a book that was written to "get it done."
If it never happens I'll be so disappointed, but I'd be more upset if it was written poorly.
i really liked reading the midnight sun...i think it is going to be a great book...how awesome would it be to hear edwards side in breaking dawn? breaking dawn is one of my favorites...but it would really be a long story...hope she puts midnight sun out soon...
Someone is starting to sound like a bratty little author. Sounds like, the public doesn't want her 'Host'ie work, we want her vampire work - period. Someone needs to drink their morning vamp juice and get all vampie and stop trippin if she want people to continue to enjoy her work.
I could wait another year and a half for that.. maybe when she gets the vampire bug back, it will propel her to write the others in a different point of view huh? Maybe it will happen when she starts watching Breaking Dawn come to life.. when i read that book I read it so slowly because I didnt want it to end.. hopefully it will be that way for Stephanie, she will see it coming to an end and in desperation to keep the love alive, she will get the urge back!!! Awesome! I can wait until she's in the right frame of mind. It's not good to write when its not enjoyed. So yeah, we should give her a break and let her want to do it again because if its forced, it wont be what we want and how she intended it in the first place.
guess bree is more interesting than edward? hum, strange. yet edward is one of her "favorite" characters. she said recently that the more the character is closer to her is the ones she wants to write about??? bree is in the story for like 5 minutes of the whole story (4books). hum, the fans would really love it stephanie!! could ya do it for us?
I agree that the previous person said. She finds more interest in Bree than the story of edward and bella? It was the story of Edward and bella that made she who she is. Not host host only gor bought because of the story of edward and bella. She may finish it once breaking dawn is done and the bucks and the hype dye down huh?
I think some are missing the point. The Bree novella was written and done. She was just waiting for the right time to release it, what better time than right before Eclipse. Good marketing if you ask me. In terms of Midnight Sun, she started righting it, it got leaked (that is still way shady on how that happened), her heart was crushed and she set it aside. Would you want to stare in the face the one thing you were pouring your heart into and then was broken hearted over the fact that your unfinished work was leaked. Any artist would of done the same, walked away until it felt right again. Do I think there is money lust behind it, perhaps, but I can not blame Stephanie for staying smart financially. She does have a family to take care of, after all. Patience is a virtue my friends, and good things come to those who wait (give me a sec, I can add in at least five more puns ;o)
If she tries to finish it when her whole heart isn't in it, that would come across in her writing and the story would suffer. yes, fans want her to finish it, but she doesn't want to give the fans a crappy story like she did with Breaking Dawn. She was hurried to meet her deadline and contract obligations with Breaking Dawn and therfore, the final book of the series is the worst by far.
I think half the people here are not getting the point... THE SHORT SECOND LIFE OF BREE TANNER WAS WRITTEN A LLLOOOOONNNNNGGGGGGG TIME AGO, right before she wrote breaking dawn.. okay? so seriously read up on your info becas this is annoying. so what she doesnt feel like writing on vampires? I love twilight, but reeally what us midnight sun? just the SAME THING! what would be really cool is a sequel to the host.
Sounds like we have a new campaign to start... "Please don't write that (unnamed) stupid book from Edward's perspective... we don't want to read it anyway."

I think people need to chill out!! just relax about it! if she does do the book then thats great! she is not being bratty at all, she wants to do it when it is right for her because thats when she feels it would be at its best! u need to stop accusing and being childish. Every book she does i think is great. So if midnight sun does get finished and come out then thats great, but if it doesnt then i understand why. Some people need to calm down about it all, stop hating and enjoy her work
Aww, dammit! I want read Midnight Sun so freakin' much. If she never wanted us to read it, then she shouldn't have posted 12 chapters of it on her website. It's just a damn tease.

The 12 chapters on her website were only realesed because someone posted a manuscript without her permisson on the internet. She knows who it was as only close friends and family got them and they were all slightly diffrent.
I hope she decides to finish it someday. I love what she has on her website so far.
Alice she only posted it on her website AFTER an ex friend of hers leaked it online. It was someone she trusted and who stabbed her in the back, so blame that person, not Stephenie, her trust was violated. So she released it, and I'm sure she felt defeated. Thank goodness she still loves her fans. I'd put money on it that a certain lady named Catherine leaked it.
Hey I'm just thrilled she's not giving up on it. Maybe after The Host is out in the theaters and things kind of quiet down with the Twilight Saga she'll be more motivated to finish it. This is good news people I don't see her not finishing this with all the work she's put into it already.
I sooo understand! I start something and I get really excited but then everything else clouds in and and im not excited about it anymore at the time, there are times where i just get sooo excited i have to do it so she needs those times.But I really hope she gets to it soon cause i bet its gona be really amazing!
