It's here, people - the moment every Twilight fan worth his or her salt has been waiting for. In just a few short hours The Twilight Saga: New Moon will hit the domestic theater line, and fans will finally get to see what all the fuss is about.
So far, the film has already made its way to international screens, and the incoming figures are staggering. Deadline did a feature on international opening totals, and, from that report, you will see that the film's release is definitely off to a good start.
On Wednesday, NEW MOON launched No. 1 in France with 488,000 admissions for its first day from 751 resulting with $4.36M on Day One -- which is 4 times what TWILIGHT did (140,960 admissions and gross $1.15M).
You can read the rest, with figures from Italy, Spain, and Australia here. You already heard the news that the MySpace premiere stream toppled charts, and Fandango reported New Moon as bringing in the highest advance ticket sales in the company's history.
Now, several outlets are offering their opening weekend gross predictions. Entertainment Weekly is project a $105 million opening weekend. The L.A. Times is figuring New Moon will come in at about $90 million. There are probably other, similar estimates, but irrespective of scouring out every estimate being thrown around, the fact is that the consensus indicates The Twilight Saga: New Moon will probably have a pretty healthy show in this weekend's box office.
On the New Moon premiere red carpet, producer Bill Bannerman seemed to say that whether or not The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn would be greenlit by Summit Entertainment was dependant on that very thing.

Just got back from seeing it and i think is pretty obvious that the 4th is gonna be made especially with the final scene in NM you're like i want ECLIPSE right now!!

fans this determined will burn summit to the ground if theres no breaking dawn,... if they dont have a death wish they will spit the movie out, or the world would forever turn their back on any Summit made production

Every midnight showing SOLD OUT in our town. :) We have 3 theaters with 10 midnight screenings. They just added a 2nd 2:30 a.m. screening. Should be a record breaking opening weekend!
Yeah... so crazy! I went to get tickets for Thursday midnight showing... completely sold out earlier this week. So we are going today at 4:30pm! I can't wait! Great Articles Girl!

I'm from Argentina. The premiere was yesterday... I've never seen so many people lining up 4 a movie so I think our contribution to the international figures will be significant.
I can not come up with enough words to say how good this movie was. If Summit does not greenlit Breaking Dawn after this showing then, like another writer said, I will boycot any movie done by them forever!
New Moon was outstanding! Can not wait for Eclipse - can only hope it is as good!
Pray Chris Weitz stays in the business and does Breaking Dawn!
*****NEW MOON MOVIE SPOILER ALERT******
Well I was very please by New Moon. I thought Chris Weitz Done an amazing job..I even thought the wolves look superb!! I thought it stayed true to the book in all important ways! Only a few minor things I wish was left out..Tell me what you think 1) Jacob getting mad at Mike Newton..I thought that didn't fit his character at all 2)Edwards face cracking when he was slung to the ground didn't like that and 3) Jacob and Edwards tiff at the end..But other than those very few little flaws I thought it was AWESOME!! Soo much better than TWILIGHT!! Can't wait to see Eclipse and Breaking Dawn..
Saw New Moon Last night or this morning I guess you could say. the Midnight showing here in MN. It was completely sold out! They had 4 theaters opened and they were ALL PACKED!! It was so AWESOME!!! I LOVED IT!!! It is so worth seeing again... I'm going to see it again!!! Chris did such a great job, the effects, the wolfs, the images, just everything was GREAT!!! Bow down to Chris... Can't wait for Eclipse... Breaking Down has gotta be made..... Summit hear Us....
LOVED it! Loved the ending, it really gets you excited for Eclipse.
