I don’t know about you all, but when I saw those ominous words (“THE END”) on the final pages of Breaking Dawn, all I could do is repeat to myself (over and over again) the word “no.” While Breaking Dawn was, for some, a resting place for the Twilight series, others, myself included, aren’t convinced that this could be the close of the story of Edward, Bella, Jacob, Renesmee, and the rest of the Cullens.Post-'Breaking Dawn', could the 'Twilight' series make a good television show?

The Twilight fanfiction community has certainly seemed to agree. While some fanfiction began as a result of disappointment or frustration with Breaking Dawn, others have simply picked up where Breaking Dawn left off.
[ * Warning * The following may contain spoilers for those who have not read the full Twilight series ]
It should serve as no surprise that many excellent books, movies, and comics, when ended, were picked up by the television community to continue where the story left off.
In the case of the Twilight series, it would appear that such a thing would pick up with Edward, Bella, Renesmee and Jacob continuing to grow as a new family alongside the Cullens. With the rich introduction of characters that Breaking Dawn brought us, there would surely be no shortage of pathways that the Twilight series could take from here, and with the hopes and fascinations that we fans have with these characters, there would likely be no lack of interest in seeing the story continue, either.
Now, I must say that I have my doubts about the idea. Aside from The Sopranos and Seinfeld, most long-running shows tend to go downhill pretty quickly. Apart from that negative possibility, there is also the chance that this hypothetical show, even with Stephenie Meyer herself guiding the writers, could take a turn (for the sake of being dramatic and catchy) for the worst. Think Roseanne and all the botched insanity that a once-hilarious masterpiece sitcom became toward the end – shudder. At any rate, it’s a least worthy of a discussion.
So, what do you think? Taking the assumption that Stephenie Meyer would approve (perhaps even contribute to the process), and all the cast jumped on board, do you think the Post-Breaking Dawn series would make a good television series? If so, why? If not, why not? Comment below and let us know!

i think if it is was done properly it could make a great tv show. It would have a huge fan base to begin with but I also think it should start where the movies leave off. If buffy was as big as it was with an Angel spin off there is no reason to think Twilight could not also wow us with the right cast
Although the idea is tempting, I doubt that it would ever happen or that SMeyer would agree to it...or that any of the cast is looking for any long-term television work. In that case you'd have to do it w/o SMeyer and w/ an entirely new cast...I feel the outlook is grim.
I think the continuation of the Twilight Saga story is better left to fanfiction writers and the imagination. The movies are serving me as some kind of closure...at least I am getting to see one of my favorite series brought to life on the big screen.
For now I think, while its a good idea, there's no backing for it...so I think once the credits roll on the Breaking Dawn movie, that'll be the end of it.
One BIG problemo dudes and dudettes. THEY CANT AGE! How could you have a long running TV show and not have people age. More often than not with teen shows (One tree hill, BH90210(the original) I cant think of others right now) the actors quickly out age the show.
I think after seeing 3 (or 4) movies with certian actors in roles, it would be a dissapointment to recast everyone. Personally it would be hard to imagine a non-Pattinson Edward. Don't get me wrong, I hated the end as much as any angsty teen, but you cant just try and pick it up as something different.
The best case scenario would be if Stephenie decided to write another book, (just negate the whole 'the end' bit) and let us in on Edward, Bella and Renesmee's life after (so cliche) death. But books need conflict, and conflict is hard to imagine when everyone is immortal and the most vulnerable character is now made of stone. I guess you could kill off Jacob...(kidding)
Even if nothing does ever come from it, we still have the books, 12 chapters of M.S. and soon, the movies...I can live with that and I'm sure others can get by. We just need to find another fad to help us cope. ;)
I think the first book could make a wonderful TV series- it could have all of the events/conversations the book had that the movie didn't- I mean I loved the movie but I wanted more. So a weekly series could draw out the angst and mystery and keep us "fed" post Breaking Dawn. And it could incorporate Midnight Sun aspects as well. I think they are already doing a TV show in the Phillipines or casting for it I read. Bring it on. Look at Superman and Smallville- it could work. And even more prequel about Carlisle's and the other's lives before Forks. I say yes.
Honestly although I love the Twilight series, the Twilight movie and all the characters/actors/actresses, some things are better left to the imagination. I'm thrilled that all the movies (hopefully BD too) are being made and they have shirts and extra accessories but after awhile there's only so much they can do with the Twilight series. I like having my own thoughts on what happens after Breaking Dawn and personally I don't want people producing that. Also too much could ruin the series so please no TV show.
No TV show. But definitely more books. I was personally VERY disappointed with the ending of Breaking Dawn. The only sense I could make of it was that Stephenie plans to write more. I'd put money on it. She need not be in any hurry either, because the franchise is proving steadfast and why not drag it all out as long as possible. I sincerely hope she does.
As much as i love twilight, having read the books back to front 4-5 times straight and loving it, i dont think a tv series would be right, we know the characters and i just dont think i could see anyone else as Bella, Edward etc.
Just one word! NOOO!!! that is ridiculos it shouldnt be made in a tv show it would just break it all up and make it all worng!!!
No TV show but PLEASE more books!
i think it could work. of course the actors we've grown into as the characters would not be the same, but i think it could work, if done properly. I'd love to see the story continue.
I'm not sure I would want to see anyone but the actors we've grown to love and identify with in the Twighlight movies, but I would love for Stephanie Meyer to write more about the characters she introduced in BD. Like Nora Roberts has the series of In Death writing as J.D. Robb, I would love to see a series of books written. I think Stephanie is an awsome writer and I know I would buy every book she writes. :)
It's tricky because Buffy ended up being a pretty good show and actually Sarah Michelle Gellar was a way better Buffy than the original movie. I think if anything, it may be interesting to do a spin off of Renesmee and her generation instead of focusing on Bella, Jacob, and Edward.
Breaking dawn ends the twilight series and a movie should end the saga too. No tv series, that is lame. That is really taking it overboard.
yes, I mean i was hearbroken when i read the end at the end of breaking dawn. It would probably be a great tv show. And would probably make a lot of fans happy.
No, a tv series would not be good. I love that they're making the saga into movies and it should stay at that. BD was my favorite book and I love the way it ended. It was perfect. I will get crazy and win premiere tickets to NM, Eclipse, and BD and then buy them as they come out on DVD....then just watch them over and over again! I am sure other fans of the saga will too!!
i love twilight and i di nt want it to end i still cant belive that and if they decide to due a t.v show then let them!i just hope they have the right people to play our beloved characters cause if they dont they'll nees up everything..that's jystif they do decide.
ugg no. these things never turn out well. and in the case of buffy the movie was terrible but the show was great.
NO!!! Edward is 17 FOREVER, Bella is 18 FOREVER... an actor can only play that age for so long. It would be a short lived TV series or they would constantly have to swap out actors. I don't think Rob & Kristin would ever agree to the TV series and after 4 movies for us fans to bond with the characters any other actors wouldn't do it justice. Let a good thing end before it gets butchered!! If you're a true fan you'll enjoy reading & watching over & over again!
The end was implied to bella and edward. Meyer's said herself that conflict motivates her writing and since bella's conflict was over so was her narrative. Meyer also said that she saw other possible story lines in renesmee and leah esp. I think TV (although I would watch it and love it) would spoil completely what the books and movies have done. Unless of course they're willing to spend the money on each episode to make it what it ought to be (Which you know they're not). Not to mention they'll never get the actor's from the movies (who lets face might as well be the people they portray because I for one am not going to like anyone else playing their parts)
I think it would be great have a Twilight TV series. But, I also think that they would not be able to this because there would be so many challenges considering they're not supposed to age and some of the actors and actresses may not want to do it. But if all that was somehow fixed and they did everything properly to pleas us fans I'm sure it be awesome! :)
No, the Tv show would not do the books justice. Does anyone kow if Stephanie is going to finish Midnight Sun? Her website says it is on-hold indefinately!
From Cindy: "I think the first book could make a wonderful TV series- it could have all of the events/conversations the book had that the movie didn't- I mean I loved the movie but I wanted more. So a weekly series could draw out the angst and mystery and keep us "fed" post Breaking Dawn. And it could incorporate Midnight Sun aspects as well. ... And even more, [a] prequel about Carlisle's and the [others'] lives before Forks. I say yes."
From Caitlin: "I think if anything, it may be interesting to do a spin off of Renesmee and her generation instead of focusing on Bella, Jacob, and Edward."
Both bring up great points and ideas. I wouldn't like to watch a TV series of Twilight, personally. But if we were going to delve into Renesmee's story and even Carlisle's, I'd rather it be Stephenie Meyer writing, you know? I would love that!
But I'm patient, Mrs. Meyer. I just wanted to let you know that we're ready when you are~
I honestly believe that a TV series would be taking it a little far. Every major book series has its die-hard fans, but this is going a little far. I understand when you love something and hate to see it go, but all good things have to end! Just think, you have the movies, the books, and the release (hopefully) of Midnight Sun. Stephenie Meyer also said that she might write more about Bella and Edward stating "Maybe part of me is protecting those secrets because I'm not ready to leave my vampires behind." She hasnt quite figured out if she does, and if so it wont be in the near future I imagine. I just think everyone is taking this a little TOO far. Of course the books deserve all the popularity; they're amazing. But you dont see every die-hard Harry Potter fan begging for a television series. Im a 16 year old girl who loved the series before the movies, and will love it after. Just give it a rest, let the author decide.
Absolutely not!!!
Hmmm, I don't think a series would be wise... the people that play these characters in the movie seem irreplaceable. I highly doubt any of these phenominal actors would agree to be on the TV show, so I doubt I'd even watch it. I'd be "pre-disappointed" if that's a word. :)
I vote no on a TV series. Love the books to death, love the movie to death and cannot WAITTT for New Moon to come out...
TV series could not do the books any justice.
I vote no also. All our beloved actors wouldn't do a series, so they would be replaced. I would hate to see someone else playing Bella and Edward or any of them. But I did feel like Stephenie left an opening for herself to write another book to the series. She implied that the Volturi would try againat the end of Breaking Dawn. Also regarding Jacob and Reneseme, in a conversation at the end between Bella and Edward they left it open-ended like it wasn't set in stone. From reading remarks Stephenie has made on her website, it doesn't sound like she has any desire to return to the Twilight world right now. But I can hope that after a rest, maybe she'll miss it, can't I?
Yes because they could choose different actors and the could do the story after Breaking Dawn and I don't know about everyone else but I really want to know what happened after that last page in Breaking Dawn.
no no no. it would ruin the series. no tv show, but i do want to see breaking dawn become a movie. I would def. sit through however long it needs to be to see it:)
I think it's a terrible idea. Stephenie Meyer ended the series where she wanted it to end and brought a sense of closure to all the characters. I don't think it would be fair for someone to write a television series and put words in her mouth and continue her story, taking it in a direction that she may not want it to go.
NO!
no, i think that its a real bad idea to think about creating a tv series cuz breaking dawn ends the series and its never any good to just make up everything as you go along. sure it might be cool to see where jacob and renesmee go with their realationship but i just think that it might turn out not that great unless stephenie is willing to go along with it to help then go ahead but i just dont want to see it end up being on air for the first couple of episodes then being cancelled thats all i think.
As much as I would love to know the continuation...and a focus more on Nessie and Jacob, and would watch no matter how much it sucks. It is virtually impossibly. NONE of them age! it would last a season... or if stephanie meyer....now if there was a 2 or 3 part made for tv movie shown on fx or something....it could work
i would have to say yes and no...yes because i absolutly LOVE The Twilight Saga...i used to be obsessed with harry potter but this is much more....much much more....many shows last many years before that final episode...i think it could last many more years...and i hope it does. i would love a tv show to come out...but no because i would hate for it to ruin tiwlight for me and other fans...like some movies and such have...but i think there should be atleast 8 more books answering all of our questions, one for jacob and renesmee, more about edward and bella, edwards version of the first four + , and what happens with the volturi... i know they aint done messing with the cullens and the wolves...something more needs to happen i dont know exactly what but something more really does im so frustrated at this....never leave your readers hanging mrs. myers
NO,if they did that it would be terrible i love the twilight series and stephenie would never agree to that or i wouldnt and stephenie intended breaking dawn to be the final book and whats in it to be the way the series ended.of course we all want another book telling how jacob and renesmee turn out,if charlie and renee ever find out that bella did not adopt she had renesmee and that she has changed because she was transformed into a vampire and that the cullens are vampires(and if they find out about vampires then they would have more trouble with the volturi which would give the story a plot and would give another problem for stephenie to write about),so we can see what happens to the rest of the wolfpack and so we can see where claire gets in her relationship, and i think it would be a very good idea to get the cullens to move somewhere else and go to different school and if they could figure out how to get renesmee to go that would be cool.i think that if u make up things as you go along it kinda gets boring, like the movies are they have a basic script,THE BOOK.it would be cool if she could write a book or remake a book from jaspers version because hes the newest vegeterian and we could actually see how much hes suffering,i saw on stephenies website some of new moon from rosalies perspective and i LOVED it i used to not understand why rosalie was so mean to bella but now i understand and i like her a lot now.it could be cool if stephenie could continue that.i dont know about anyone else but i really wanted leah and jacob to have feelings for each other and when i was reading the series i kept on wanting them to kiss.and i was dissapointed when they didnt.I LOVE TWILIGHT AND AM TIRED OF WAITING FOR NEW MOON TO COME OUT.no t.v.series,please dont do that to me!
Definitely not. This would be ridiculous and terrible, and there is no way that the cast would be on board for it.
i think anythang that has edward cullen in it is a fantastic idea!!!!! I ? yooh edward(a.k.a. robert patterson)
that'd be great. I love edward and bella but i tink a coutanin of the story woudl be great. I think htey shoudl ahve the orgianl actor but I'l lwathc it either way. I mean although I'm a team edward, I do liek nessice and I woudl ajoc's and their relationsihp grow and edward and blela roamnce coutnie alogn wit the rest of the culels. plus soeo ther characters like tanya nad garret and akte shoudl fall in lvoe. and leah could ahve her happeir ending..
eh, i don't know. it seems like it might mess up the series. MAYBE, if it was the same cast from the movies, but not with other actors.
you must be kidding
No! No! No! Even though I love the Twilight Saga and really hope that Stephenie Meyer keeps righting about the Twilight world, I don't want them to ruin it!
I doubt Rob and Kristen (especially) plus most of the other originals would be into a Twilight TV series at the moment when their careers have just exploded and it would definately not be Twilight with the complete original cast, it would ruin the lot. As much as I want Midnight Sun and futher books after Breaking Dawn, I don't think a TV series would work at all.
I think only with the original cast intact would it be a good idea, I would love to see it, but the possibility of ALL the same members of the original cast coming together to do a tv project is very SLIM if nothing else i would love to see more books!!! writing gives so much MORE!
I dont think a tv series would be wise. Honestly too much of a good thing could be bad! I desperately hope that Stephenie Meyer finishes Midnight Sun and publishes it, but i think that tv sitcom would totally destroy the twilight saga!
i think yes and no. i LOVED the twilight saga and i did feel sad when it was finished (so sad i kepp reading it over and over lol) .. and yes i would like to see what happens to the characters after breaking dawn..
BUT i dont think it would work for long. i mean the characters arnt supposed to age! and i dont know if all the actors would want to keep doing it. they would probably want to move on to bigger and beter things. the cast is pretty young.
and if they changed the actors i WOULDN'T watch! but i wold mind if stephaine wrote anothe book for it. =) (i can't get enough of twilight)but i dont think it should be a series
**i meant to write i WOULDN'T mind if stephanie wrote more books for the saga. or at least finished midnight sun! =)
making a tv-series is a bad. even if they could actually convince the whole cast to return it couldn't last long as one of the most obvios things about vampires is that they don't age. i would probably still watch it without the original cast but it wouldn't be the same. i do think however that stephenie should bring out another book as there are so many un answered questions. with renesmee ending up the same age as her vampire parents how does that work. what about leah and the rest of the wolf pack?
Yes, I know it would have to be new actors becuase there is no way that the present actors could put the other project on hold for such a long period of time. I would watch the continuation of the story weather is was through more movies or a t.v. series.
I think it would only work if the cast and Stephenie would sign for it.Only Stephenie can really bring out whats really there with her characters. The cast would have to stay everyone knows that replacing characters with someone else would not work because the new actor/actress would not bring the same look or feel to the series.I think it would be great to see more but I doubt everyone would be on board and if not everyone is on board it would ruin the series...As far as the aging its fictional there are a thousand ways that can be fixed..And hey some of our soap stars have been on for years and have aged very little really not enough to notice when watching them all the time...I want to see a series if Stephenie is on board...Its is at least worth a try...
hell no
i love the books the way they are
only stephanie meyer know what happens next and she is the only one that can tell their storeis. i think yes she should continue but not do a show
that will take so much away from the story and ruin it
