Peter Facinelli talks 'The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn'

The Twilight Saga: New Moon and The Twilight Saga: Eclipse star Peter Facinelli
Summit Entertainment

While he was at the Z100 Jingle Ball this weekend, Peter Facinelli (Carlisle Cullen in The Twilight Saga: New Moon and The Twilight Saga: Eclipse) took time to talk about The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn.

Among other things, Facinelli seems to agree with a great many Twilight fans that perhaps Chris Weitz would make an excellent director for Breaking Dawn. He, however, is not incredibly optimistic about the prospect since Weitz is supposed to be filming The Gardener very shortly. He has confidence, though, that whoever is selected to helm the project will be great for the taking.

Facinelli also opined that Breaking Dawn is fit to be a two-parter given the breadth of the story.

Of course, Facinelli - as well as co-Cullen castmates (Kellan Lutz, Elizabeth Reaser, Ashley Greene, Nikki Reed, Robert Pattinson, and Jackson Rathbone) and the wolfpack (Taylor Lautner, Alex Meraz, Chaske Spencer, Julia Jones, Tyson Houseman, Bronson Pelletier, Boo Boo Stewart, and Kiowa Gordon) - would be a big part of Breaking Dawn if and when it were to be made.

Breaking Dawn would have to be a 2-parter to be a decent adaptation to the book. I see the first being about the wedding, honeymoon, pregnancy, birth, and Bella's transformation into a vampire with the movie ending with Alice "seeing" the Alaskan vampire (her name escapes me at the moment) going to the Volturi or maybe when she "sees" them making the decision to come to Forks. The 2nd can be all about them getting the other vamps together and all the preparations and then the Volturi's entrance into Forks...they could do a lot with just the other vamps and the Volturi...

No Breaking Dawn needs to be a two-parter agreed, but it should break right after the birth so that when then second part starts it begins with Bella opening her new eyes to her new world.

It's Irina and I'm not sure where they should break it up. At first I love the idea of the 2nd movie starting with Bella's vampire capabilities, but I think it would be really dramatic if they ended the first with Alice seeing that the Volture was coming. That would mean major anticipation for the 2nd one.
