Newest 'Twilight' casting rumor: Robert Pattinson to portray Kurt Cobain?

In the long-winded history of Robert Pattinson casting rumors, there have been any number of iconic posts thrown around the rumor mill.

From James Bond to Spiderman, he's been the subject of a great deal of future role speculation, and today a new, albeit more colorful, suggestion has hit the net.

According to Cinema Blend, the U.K.'s ever-so-unpredictable The Sun has begun what will inevitably be a long line of mixed storytelling on the subject of Robert Pattinson's potential next project.

The story, of course, comes with the astute caveat that the "information" contained therein should be "treat[ed] as wild speculation until there’s some sort of confirmation." Wise words.

The Sun's story is that Robert Pattinson has been badgering Courtney Love ("calling and emailing her non-stop" and causing her to be "a bit wound up by his manners" to quote The Sun precisely) for a spot in a biopic film about her ill-fated late husband and Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain. Pretty out of character behavior being reported here.

"She has agreed to the film on condition that she gets to decide the main aspects of the project including director, casting, screenplay and music," and Robert Pattinson "is her number one choice to play Kurt," The Sun reports. Another must-have for Love, continues the publication, is Scarlett Johansson to portray, well, her.

Cinema Blend takes a bite at the rumors, saying "[t]his is the first anyone’s even heard of Fincher making a Nirvana movie, let alone casting for it."

So, for now, this one should promptly go into the typical rumor bin until the Gossip Cop has a look at it.

UPDATE: Well, the Gossip Cop did indeed get ahold of this one, and it is busted. Check out their story here.

Not that I know RP personally or anything like that, but he doesn't seem the type to be harrassing someone to have a part in a film. He doesn't seem to portray that sort of behavior. I have to agree with Ravin...there doesn't seem to be a whole lot of truth to this story.

I could se RP playing Kurt Cobain for some reason. That would be pretty interesting. And I could see RP playing James Bond in the future. Those are some fun rumors!

I would watch RP play Kurt, just for the comedy aspect of it.

Didn't Micheal Pitt just play a verison of KC in a movie? He's way better actor than RP, and still he left much to be desired. Another film about KC is NOT needed.

I don't remember Kurt sounding like a drowning cat, or acting like a paid-for-hire Luke Perry/James Dean hybrid.

That sounds strange to me! I love both....Kurt and of course Rob...but I can't immagine Rob in that part...they really don't look alike!!! It's not that Rob would't manage to act the right way...it's just that he doesn't look anything like Kurt!!!

I believe he could pull this off quite well. He already portrays brooding and soulful well. His voice and singing style are also a good match, plus he pulls off scruffiness beautifully.

BUT, there is no way RP would be beating down anyone's door for this or any other part. That is just not his thing. As I have said many times before. Do not believe what you read in the media unless it comes directly from the source or subject of the story mentioned.

I think Rob puts his heart into all of his roles. I didn't think this was true, but if he did he would be believable. I can't see him begging at this point for any role, he's booked up for quite awhile. He is outstanding in Twilight and New Moon, his expressions, wincing when he kisses Bella before he leaves. I think there is so much jealousy with critics and guys in general. There is much to learn. Rob plays as close to the books, including Midnight Sun as possible, and for those who never read and just want to get a blog with alot of hits, they mention his name . Enough with the bashing, he is HERE to stay!
