With a little over four months until the release of The Twilight Saga: New Moon, the intensity of anticipation is growing ever more fierce by the second.
That said, there's still a lot left to discuss about Stephenie Meyer's New Moon before we see the film.
One such thing is quotes.
We've already talked about a few quotes that should be in the film, but, as readers pointed out, there are many more than just those.
So, let's start at the end of the book.
Many readers of the last article said that the discussions that Edward and Bella had after Italy were the most precious to them.
This quote was featured on page 510 of Chapter 23 in New Moon:
You’re not asleep, and you’re not dead. I’m here, and I love you. I have always loved you, and I will always love you. I was thinking of you, seeing your face in my mind, every second that I was away. When I told you that I didn’t want you, it was the very blackest kind of blasphemy.
This quote carries a lot of significance because it is Edward explaining to Bella the fact that the words he spoke to her when breaking up with her were false. It also confirms, to the reader, the fact that Edward Cullen is the same Edward Cullen he always had been, and it goes to show that he never lost sight of Bella (just as she never lost sight - er, sound - of him) while he was away.
Does the quote hold any other value and meaning for you, as a reader? Was it important to you, when reading this book, to hear these words from Edward?
Be sure to leave your suggestions for tomorrow's article, as a quote will be drawn from the list of suggestions contained in the comments below (and the format will continue in this way until November). Be sure to leave the chapter/page information on the quote that you submit, and your name in the box so that you can be credited for your submission!

I didnt have to look to know who it was; this was a voice I would know anywhereknow, and respond to, whether I was awake or asleep or even dead, Id bet. The voice Id walk through fire foror, less dramatically, slosh every day through the cold and endless rain for. Edward.
Bella Swan, New Moon, Chapter 1, p.4
That quote is so important to the whole story, it explains everything!! My favorite part of it though is the last line. "When I told you that I didnt want you, it was the very blackest kind of blasphemy."
Edward & Bella
Chapter 24 Page 540
He thought for a minute. "All right. Forget time limits. If you want me to be the one-then you'll just have to meet one condition."
"Condition?" My voice went flat. "What condition?"
His eyes were cautious-he spoke slowly. "Marry me first."
I stared at him, waiting.... "Okay. What's the punch line?"
He sighed. "You're wounding my ego, Bella. I just proposed to you, and you think it's a joke."
Time passes. Even when it seems impossible. Even when each tick of the second hand aches like the pulse of blood behind a bruise. It passes unevenly, in strange lurches and dragging lulls, but pass it does. Even for me.Bella Swan, New Moon Chapter4,p.93
That is one of my favorite quotes from the book. The other is from the same chapter: "Before you, Bella, my life was like a moonless night. Very dark, but there were starspoints of light and reason And then you shot across my sky like a meteor. Suddenly everything was on fire; there was brilliancy, there was beauty. When you were gone, when the meteor had fallen over the horizon, everything went black. Nothing had changed, but my eyes were blinded by the light. I couldn't see the stars anymore. And there was no more reason for
anything."
I wanted to believe him. But this was my life without him that he was describing, not the
other way around.
What a beautiful description of how a person can affect another. This is integral in being able to understand how both Bella and Edward feel about each oter.
i also like...
d never seen anything more beautifuleven as I ran, gasping and screaming, I could appreciate that. And the last seven months meant nothing. And his words in the forest meant nothing. And it did not matter if he did not want me. I would never want anything but him, no matter how long I lived...Bella Swan, chapter 20, p.451
There is a part of the story that i feel needs to be in the movie but it's in too many places in the book and the quotes related are too long. I think the whole thing about Edward believing that he has lost his soul and that's one of the reasons he doesn't want to change Bella, is really important to the story. And then the part in the end (chapter 24, Page 546/547) when Bella proves him wrong by quoting something he had said in Volterra about Carlisle being right.
I love the quote by Inez! It describes the way I feel about my children, but to feel this way about a partner/spouse is rare.
I also love the phrase "the blackest kind of blasphemy"; it's so poetic. Behind the vampire savagery, Edward has the heart of a poet. Rob P understands this, and I think that's why he nailed the part of Edward.
I hope I don't sound too much like a mushy goof-ball!
She just keeps saying Hes gone. Sam Uley, chapter 3, page 76
"Here's to responsibility," he toasted. "Twice a week."
"And recklessness every day in between," I emphasized.
He grinned and touched his can to mine.
Jacob & Bella
chapter 7 Page 164
I think this Quote Is one of the best from the book.Atleast they should put in the last sentence!I really hope they put this in the Movie
When Bella finally saw that Edward truly loved her is when, as the reader, I was finally able to see it, too.
New Moon Chapter 24, p. 527
'You love me,' I marveled. The sense of conviction and tightness washed through me again.
Though his eyes were still anxious, the crooked smile I loved best flashed across his face. 'Truly, I do.'
...He really did want me the way I wanted him--forever.
Thats one of the reasons why I love twilight, I just love all of the romantic quotes!
He shook his head and chuckled. "I know, it seems a little backward to me, too. But James was her mate, and your Edward killed him."
Even here, on the point of death, his name tore against my unhealed wounds like a serrated edge.
Laurent was oblivious to my reaction. "She thought it more appropriate to kill you than Edward-fair turnabout, mate for mate. She asked me to get the lay of the land for her, so to speak. I didn't imagine you would be so easy to get to. So maybe her plan was flawed-apparently it wouldn't be the revenge she imagined, since you must not mean very much to him if he left you here unprotected."
Another blow, another tear through my chest.
Laurent & Bella
chapter 10, page 240
Obviously I love all of the quotes that display Bella's & Edward's need for one another, but I think this quote is really important to the story.
Oh, and Stefanie, I LOVE that part of the story <3
"Oh, c'mon." I said with an edge of hysteria in my voice. "I'm only eighteen."
"Well I'm nearly a hundred and ten. It's time i settled down."
Chapter 24, p.540
Edward and Bella
Forbidden to remember, terrified to forget. it was a hard line to walk.
Chp. 4 pg. 117
my absolute favorite quote from the extire Twilight Saga.
Jennifer
I think one of the most important lines that should be translated to the movie is "it will be as if I never existed." I know it's a really sad time in the book but it was so powerful and added so much to that break up scene.
What if you sincerely believed something was true, but you were dead wrong? What if you were so stubbornly sure that you were right, that you wouldnt even consider the truth? Would the truth be silenced, or would it try to break through?
Bella Swan, New Moon, Chapter 24, p.527
i think this should be the quote right at the beginning just like in twilight,,
it explains why bella was having her hallucinations...
her subconsious was trying tell her conscience mind that Edward still cared, that what he said in the forest was a lie.
Chapt. 20 pg.452
edward- i cant belive how quick it was. i didnt feel a think-they're very good. death, that hath sucked the honey of thy breath, hath had no power yet upon thy beauthy.you smell just exactly the same as always. so maybe this is hell. i dont care ill take it.
Chap.23 pg.515
edward-just part of the lie, love. there was no distraction from the...the agony. my heart hasnt beat for almost ninty years, but this was different. it was like my heart was gone-like i was hollow.like id left everything that was inside me here with you.
these quotes are my favs. too and i like the one that is already posted :) :) !!!!!!!!
ok so i have a couple i want to share

Love, life, meaning...over
Chapter 3, p. 73
Bella alone in the forest

Not tonight. Tonight the sky was utterly black. Perhaps there was no moon tonight-a lunar eclipse, a new moon.
A new moon. I shivered though, I wasn't cold
Chapter 3, p. 74
-----------------------------------------------
the second one is my favorite quote from the book i think.
-AshleyGreeneFan
"The worse the Volturi can do is kill me."
He waited with tense eyes.
"You can leave me," I explained. "The Volturi, Victoria... they're nothing compared to that."
...
"If there was only some way to make you see that I 'can't' leave you," he whispered. "Time, I suppose, will be the way to convince you."
chapter 24 Page 524
oh, and...
"So- since you're staying. Can i have my stuff back?"
"Your things were never gone," he told me. "I knew it was wrong, since I promised you peace without reminders. It was stupid and childish, but I wanted to leave something of myself with you. The CD, the pictures, the tickets-they're all under your floorboards."
Chapter 24, Page 525
I know the second quote isn't that important but I think it is so cute. It also leads into Bella explaining that part of her still believed he loved her when he left and that's when she starts to tell him about the voices and she has her epiphany.
i want the part where edward tries to explain to bella his life without her. something about a moonless night, with stars, and bella being a meteor and going over the sky and being blinded when it went over the horizon because she wasnt there anymore. pg. 514, i think.
if they dont put these lines in i will be very upset!!!
- love, life, meaning... over. (bella)
- i dont want my soul edward, its yours already! (bella)
- i dont want you to come... (edward)
- you... dont... want me... well that changes things (bella)
i really think almost all of the lines when he leaves her are so important. and in the book bella is yelling most of these lines at him.. especially about the 'soul' thing. if kristen stewart just stands there and blinks the whole time like she does in the trailer it will be awful. at least she puts up a fight for him in the book.. wouldnt you be trying as hard as you can to get him to stay.
"I could see it in your eyes, that you honestly believed that I didnt want you anymore. The most absurd, ridiculous conceptas if there were any way that I could exist without needing you!"
Don't remember where it is in the book (I lent it out) but I love this quote :)
i like all of the quotes that people mention, specially the one that marsha said its very important the condition of edward for bella, and its also very romantic
i love new moon lol
and i expect a lot form the director for making this movie
One of the ones i love most was on page 376 where Bella is deciding to kiss Jacob, "And then as clearly as if I were in immediate danger, Edward's velvet voice whispered in my ear. "Be Happy," he told me." Because it shows that (even though its her imagination) she knows he wants her to be happy, no matter what. Also Edwards voice always came up when she was in danger, but now it came up when she was trying to be happy, it shows her happiness is as important as her safety.
I always knew in my heart that Edward loved Bella & that would never change for the rest of his existence.
That has to be in the movie, it had so much feelin to it.
How can you not have "Forbidden to remember...terrified to forget."?
I would love that quote to be in. Hearing Robert's voice say that would be amazing. I loved that scene in the book. It shows how Edward never really wanted to Leave Bella but he did it coz he wanted to protect her.
omg i nearly cried just reading these quotes i new i was obsessed with twilight but i didn't know that much i love i love the bit when alice shows up and stops bella before she kisses jacob when i read that bit i screamed and threw the book down i was like "NOO BELLA HOW COULD YOU DO TAHT TO EDWARD NOO NOT JACOB YOU LOVE EDWARD YOU STUPID GIRL!!" i cryed for hours at the thourght that bella and edward where no more. i couldn't read on i had to get my sister to tell me what happened she made me read on saying "just read it u'll c what happens" it gave me hope even though shes a jacob fan. then alice came in and bella left!! yay!! BELLA AND EDWARD FOREVER!!
its not that i dont like jacob hes great but hes not so great when he trys 2 get bella.
Chapter 13 killer page 314
"edward killed James," I whispered. Jacob held me so tightly that there was no need for me to clutch at the hole-he kept me in one piece.
Chapter 15 pressure page 362 Goodbye, I love you, was my last thought.
i loved it when he said that. its was amazin.i waz sooooo happy cause he still loves Bella. i nearly cried when he said that. he should totally say that in the movie!
Swoon!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It has been said that a picture says 1000 words, but these words are just beautiful and though I adore the actors in this series, they must be allowed to SPEAK the words to truly understand the love that Edward and Bella share. This kind of love transcends generations.
Please...........don't just see the movies! Read the books!
My favorite is on page 514... its so beautiful:
"Before you my life was like a moonless night. Very dark, but there were stars-points of light and reason....And then you shot across my sky like a meteor. Suddenly everything was on fire; there was brilliancy, there was beauty. When you were gone, when the meteor had fallen over the horizon, everything went black. Nothing had changed, but my eyes were blinded by the light. I couldn't see the stars anymore. And there were no more reason for anything."
