After reading below, answer me this: is this the most clever marketing tactic of all time or blind (and spooky) luck coincidence?
On November 16th, the stars of The Twilight Saga: New Moon will line up in Los Angeles for the official premiere of the film.
The heavens, it seems, will also be lining up on that date as well. One Twitterer made an interesting connection between the date of New Moon's offiical premiere and the lunar calendar.
November 16th will also be the date of a legitimate new moon according to the lunar phase calendar.
Clever? Methinks so.
Moving right along, it seems that The Twilight Saga: Eclipse could be subject to a similar coincidence. The Twitterer's research proves correct in that on June 26th (four days before the release of Eclipse), a partial lunar eclipse will occur (with the next eclipse, a total eclipse, not due until December 21, 2010). If, like with New Moon's premiere, Eclipse's premiere takes place four days before the film's release, Eclipse will premiere during an eclipse, and New Moon will have premiered during a new moon.
Terribly fascinating isn't it?

That's so wild. I realized a long time ago that there was a new moon the week of the New Moon premiere, but I hadn't realized that the official premiere was on the actual day.
Staff: Hey why don't we move it to this week instead?

Staff: B/c there's a new moon around that time.

if it's not a coincidence and and they're actually planning it that way, then you don't think that perhaps the premiere for breaking dawn would be really early in the day, say, perhaps at dawn?
if it's made into a movie that is.
still, if they didn't plan the premieres like that then it's certainly going to do them loads of good. it'll look fantastic.

That is too spooky if they did not plan it, but if Summit did plan this it was very clever, indeed. I knew that it was going to be a new moon the week of the release of "New Moon" but I had no idea about the eclipse in 2010. Amazing!

I realized this too back when they released the date to the public. I think it's a great idea, they should have made a bigger deal about it though.... and the fact that there is a lunar eclipse next summer, clever, very clever!
I read this article right when you posted it, but I would like to know if you know how to accqure tickets for the premiere in L.A.? I have been trying to find a way for the past couple of days and I haven't had any luck. My friend and I are flying to L.A.for the premiere anyway, but tikets would be a bonus. Thank you so much:)
