'New Moon' movie filming update: Robert Pattinson thrown around

While two days ago, Michael Sheen (who will play Aro in The Twilight Saga: New Moon) was among the to-be Volturi vampires (Dakota Fanning and Jamie Campbell Bower included) to arrive in Vancouver, he was a bit scraggly at the time (see also the many other faces of Michael Sheen here). Now, it appears that he has prepared himself for filming by cleaning up a bit.

Lainey Gossip, who always brings us many pictures (check her out for more pictures) of the Twilight cast, reported on the events of the day by providing new photographs of Michael Sheen out and about, with a new look, and some information on the filming process to go along with it. Says she,

Today: Edward is hurled in the air, tossed against a wall when he attempts to protect Bella. Am pretty sure in the book his torture consisted of him writhing on the floor in pain. Obviously, visually, the throwing is much more spectacular, requiring much less emphasis on, um, Robert Pattinson’s facial expressions. Every time he was hurting in the first movie, he looked like he wanted to poo. Oh hush Twi-hards. It was the direction!

Also on sched: Aro is convinced to release Bella, Edward, and Alice because he sees the vision.

Robert Pattinson, who plays Edward in the series, told us in an Entertainment Tonight interview that he expected to be attacked from many fronts throughout the filming process. While in the book New Moon, we saw Jane (played by Dakota Fanning) render Edward helpless with her calculated visual maneuvers, we (apparently) will see much more raucous behavior stemming from the film's Volturi ensemble.

While, for the most part, on-set photographs have gone to show that The Twilight Saga: New Moon and its director Chris Weitz are going to be quite in-line with the literal text of Stephenie Meyer's book New Moon, this is but one example of a few key deviations that we can expect from the film (another being, of course, the "flittering images" of Edward Cullen as well as the "dark" dream that Bella will have of him).

So, what do you think? Surprised at all by Lainey's news? Do you agree with her take on why the direction changes are taking place? Comment below and let us know!

I wonder how they can ever make Kristen Stewart physically look bad? In the book, it's rather obvious she is a mess, and I am anxious to see how they can make someone like her look bad.

I really can`t wait to see the scene where the break-up takes place. I also would love to enjoy the scene where Bella finds Edward in Italy and saves him from the Volturi. It`s got to be perfect, by this I mean graphics and well made. That`s what I`m hoping, Chris better do a good job.

I cannot wait to see how they dress Michael to make him into Aro. I actually just got finished watching "Underworld" for the first time, and I developed a bit of a crush on Michael. He was quite yummy!

I think it will by dynamic, Janes ability to physically incapacitate people, Edward could be jolted so bad that it picks him up and throws him to the ground and leaves him writhing in pain.. excellent!!!!

My dear Chris Weitz, use your God gifted talents (more than one)in "The Twilight Sage: New Moon". I pray that through all the FANS informations, I am pretty sure the scenes will be very much close to the book. No matter what is present in the movie "Twilight" the first, has set the tone. Praying for everyone! Peace and blessings.

Creative licence often has to be taken when turning a book into a movie. especially a supernatural one. I'm so glad Chris Weitz came on as director! I can not wait to see this movie!!

I'm not suprised they have to take some license when it comes to some of the scenes in the book. If they tried to portray Jane's mental torture...it would come off boring. That is something that comes across great in a book, but would need to be adapted for screen...same thing with Edwards voice in the book. I think they are taking the right approach with these things. Can't wait to see it.

"Geralyn" it is easy to look KS look bad LOL. This is the movies --- there are make-up!

Now, I am sure, it is hard to make Robert Pattinson look bad . . . because he cab poetry in motion. Just watch him as Dali in Little Ashes. Geez the man is gorgeous even as a wide-eyed fanatic artist!

Looking forward to seeing New Moon, has to be the best book of the series!! They can't veer too far away from the storyline of the book, but they do have to make it visual, which means cutting corners somewhere. I'm looking forward to seeing how the actors develop the characters. We just have to wait and see!!

I agree. Movies are soooo much better than the books. They better have some of Jane's powers in too! I hope they keep it close to the books, because the books are amazing! Stephanie Meyer! You did a fabulous job! Thank you!

I think they should keep the movie as close to the book as they can. Everyone loved the book (well besides the part where Edward leaves) and they wouldn't wanna change the movie to much! I'm so excited to see the movie with Chris Weitz directing it!

if they change jane's "power" from something that affects it's victims in their mind (edward writhing on the floor), to something that affects them physically (vs edward being thrown around) doesn't that mean that bella's "power" (her shield - something that comes clear in later books) is now moot?
what I am saying is that Jasper's power can affect bella (because, according to the book, emotions in the room are physical, not in someone's mind) and so can Alice's. But edwards power cannot becaues it her shield works against those sorts of powers.
If Jane can affect Edward like this in this scene, won't she also be able to affect Bella? Obviously not, because that would mess up other parts of the story later on.

Twilight the movie compared to Twilight the book sucked!!!! the book was WAY better and they left out stuff that was alot of the twilighters fav. parts. so im hoping they wont ruin new moon the movie. THEY HAVE TO KEEP EDWARD ON THE FLOOR IN PAIN ( when jane uses her powers on him) THEY JUST HAVE TO!!! cuz that part made me CRY and i know it did for alot of other twilighters too!

i felt like the first movie was rushed and all the good parts from the book were omitted in the movie...so New Moon needs to be the "band aid/ healer" for the first movie. It needs to be more elaborate and sick closely to the book, especially about the werewolves and Volturi.

I'm with you Darla of Tennessee! I can hardly see through the tears of laughter! It was his facial expressions I noticed too! He didn't exactly look concerned or panicked or in pain as he kneeled before the only thing that can make a vampire change dramatically, alter the very fiber of his being-Bella, the love of his life now did he? Being a vampire though, I guess he wasn't thinking about where the closest loo was!!LOL Okay sorry I had to get that out of my system so now on to the throwing Rob around- It doesn't actually mean they have to alter Janes powers. I can see how when Jane mentally hits him with her forceful jolt of pain, it having the capability of knocking him back into the wall since he was crouched to attack Jane in the first place to protect Bella. It would only give you the impression of how powerful that jolt of pain would be visually.
p.s. I don't think a poo expression would work well for this scene either. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA

seriously, twilight sucked. neither Bella nor Edward felt as if they were in LOVE. It felt like it was a compulsion for them. i dont blame the direction though. come one man, its a book with feelings not story. Actors need to do a better job.
I really hope New Moon turns out to be good. Atleast compared to Twilight.

I really don't think Robert can pull off the whole writhing on the floor in pain part. OMGoodness did you see his face in the field when James tried to kill Bella. His facial expressions were so bad it still makes me laugh. Don't get me wrong I like Robert but he really needs to work on his facial acting. I really hope the writer stuck to the story line better than she did when she did twiligh. If not I really hope they fire her and hire someone who can stick to the story line. I really don't see why she redid the dialogue when Stephenie alread had that part perfect! I just don't have a lot of hope that New Moon will be like the book, since they used the same writer as the first and she didn't get that right so.... I really don't think she would stick to this one.

okay is everyone missing the biggest reason why edward should be on the floor writhing in pain? JANE'S GIFT IS A MENTAL ONE AND THAT'S WHY SHE CAN"T HURT BELLA! sheesh, they really need to know the storyline becuase they're messing up meyer's saga. I would be angry if i were her.

I agree that they left out important stuff. Carlisle's story in Twilight introduces the Voluturi in the second book. It was essential and they cut it. They left out Alice's story. And in the movie...like how they described the Quilete tribe story..the costumes were ridiculous...honestly. Indians have looked way cooler in other movies. but hopefully since they got Dakota Fanning they will have a higher budget. I mean, cause everyone went to go see the disappointment..they should have money to make this movie better.

I think we all would agree that Twilight should have been waaaay longer than it was. I mean they cut all the good stuff out such as Carlile's past, and most of The Meadow scene. Where exactly was that pathetic meadow in the movie anyway? A few feet away from the school? It's meant to be isolated and secret. And just how fast did they fall in love? One minute he hated her and then she was"his life." They really needed to slow things down to develop their love. Also Kristen just isn't vulnerable,

I agree very much with what most people have already said....I wished they had made Twilight a little longer & shown a bit more " expressions of the love between Edward & Bella (there were loads of I Love You's in the book....awww,tummy tightening & lovely !!). As for me the way Stephenie wrote these books was AMAZING & I just wished so many parts of the book had been put in the film. I know alot was implied & although I have a great imagination, it still would have been nice to actually see. Ho

Sorry every-one my computer died on me before I could finish. My sentence with Ho, should read Hopefully with a bigger budget they will be able to put alot more of the book into the film. I loved Rob playing Edward, and for me the few scenes where he actually kissed Bella, he actually looked to me like he was testing himself before kissing her, like he was unsure almost pained to do so incase he hurt her. I really liked that, I felt that was needed in the film. I also loved Kristen playing Bella, I just wished that she had been a little more vunlnerable, but I saw an interview with her where she said she did not want Bella to be too "goo eyed", as that was not the image she wanted to portray to fans. I also saw on the 2 disc dvd extended "The Meadow" scene (which afterall gave Stephenie the inspiration for writing this AMAZING saga) and I thought....now why could that of not been in the film ?. Hopefully not as much will be "cut" this time. If "lord of the rings" was hours long & I sat
