After a bit of conversation about the shift in vehicles that Robert Pattinson will drive from Twilight to The Twilight Saga: New Moon and The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, from C30 to XC60, it may or may not be surprising that at least one Volvo dealership has taken notice of the attention and is using it to their advantage.
Pattinson as Edward, a still from the latest trailer for New Moon, made the weekly advertisement for one observant fansite's local Volvo dealership.

So... um what happened to the silver Volvo??? The black is pretty but even in Eclipse when she is leaving First Beach after sneaking there before going to Angelas to do Graduation Announcements she sees the sun glinting off a silver volvo right on her tail. Do they plan on changing the color then back to silver for eclipse? Or did Volvo quit making Silver.. I mean I understand all books made to movies cant be EXACT but this is one MINOR detail that was easy to keep true to the book.

I don't think they make the shiny silver Volvo's model anymore. Oh well, Edward is rich enough to upgrade his cars as he so chooses, but it would have been nice if they could have gotten a silver Volvo in this model as well.
Shiny Silver Volvo means Edward, Edward means Shiny Silver Volvo. I just say this.

Nope they have not stopped making silver or the C30. What is currently out of production is the S60R which will return (with a really cool new look)in Spring 2010. I don't know why they did not do silver in the XC60...Summit says it is really a dark gray color but still...not silver. I guess the style is growing on me (I own a c30) for the XC60 as a thing Edward might own...he does collect cars. Be nice if we could see the C30 or a S60R in the garage at some point.
I want the car and comes with Edward will be even better ...
I know that Edward is Bella, but every woman can dream of a prince! Although I already have my prince... Edward will always be the best prince!

my dad on my 18th birthday just bought me a white volvo and it's just amazing. i was driving in a desolate road back home in salem, OR and man i floored it and it was just awesome. the whole time driving it i was like " no wonder edward felt like a big shot driving his silver volvo." these cars are awesome but pretty expensive. my dad only got me the car because i got accepted to stanford university.

That was one of the first things that I noticed. The car is not silver and it's different. It made me mad. How hard is it to keep the same car? It was a SILVER Volvo, Not Black......

The only Volvo dealership here in Jacksonville Fl said they've had LOTS more interest in the C30 coming in from Twilight. They still make that model. Don't know why the need to change vehicles in the movie other then in the book his car was a sedan, not a compact, but it was SILVER all the same. Don't know how they'll explain the change but I hate lack of continuaty too!

The change in car is inexcusable. Anyone could've gotten a hold of the right car even if they don't sell them any more. Hell they could make money on it by selling it when they're done.
If Volvo doesn't use this as a marketing tool they're insane. They spent a TON of money on a huge marketing campaign (with online game included) with Pirates of the Caribean and there was absolutely NO previous connection. This is a total GIMEE!!!
That being said... I had a white Volvo. Sold it for a silver hybrid Civic in '03 when my son was about 4. He still talks about that car like it's a long lost cousin. I still miss the car too and had already decided that the next car I was going to get was back to a Volvo. Once I read Twilight the color was set. Silver for SURE!!!

Sounds like this one Volvo ad is not a company-wide marketing campaign.
So my question is, did this one dealership get permission from the movie studio to use any and all Twilight character likenesses in their advertisements? Because otherwise, it's copyright infringement and the movie studio is going to sue them.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE my C30! It is silver and boy can she haul if I ask her to! Not only that but I feel super safe in it. The only down side is the boot (hatch) is only 28" wide so getting stuff in sometimes is a pain. I can really get a ton of stuff in but not if it is larger then 28" wide. Still love her though!
I guess Summit thinks that if they can switch out Victoria Vampires, they can switch out Volvos. Just so they don't switch out Rob, Bella, Carlisle, Esme, Charlie, Alice, Jasper, Emmit, and, oh, yeah, Rosalie. Jacob, and All the first Nations boys and gals, too. Still ticks me off they didn

I dont think people would be nearly as upset over the car if it was still silver. They change alot from the books to the movies as in Roaslies M3 turning into a Mercedes in the Twilight movie. But taking Edwards SILVER Volvo and making it dark charcoal or black? Come on thats just stupid his volvo is in everyone of the books and it is silver no one wants to see him driving a black Volvo.
