Kristen Stewart has, yet again, become the subject of cruel scrutiny. Between MTV Canada's announcer's antics and his half-hearted retraction and flimsy apology and fan reactions to Kristen's participation in a pre-DVD release party video, she probably doesn't need another insult to add to injury.
Though she'll probably be making millions for New Moon, perhaps the scrutiny could be turned down just a bit.
The latest comes from Yahoo's OMG, who put Kristen on their "What were they thinking?" list for her wardrobe at an event for her new film Adventureland. The first time I saw the photo, though, I thought she looked gorgeous. I disagree with the commentator's suggestion that her updo was "unsightly" and that the dress was "bizarre." I actually thought she looked quite striking in these two respects particularly. Furthermore, whether she has purveyed attitude or not, I'm not sure she deserves a lot of the hateful comments, particularly those coming from the media, that she has been receiving lately.
I wish her luck in tolerating the vicious tongues of those who are supposed to be in an impartial (or, at the very least, semi-neutral and polite) industry.

It amuses me that Rob could spit on a little old lady in a wheel chair and fans would think it was sexy. Kristen can walk in a room and immediately she is in the wrong. I have tried to understand the polarization and the only think I can come up with is that she took "Edward" away from every girl. She is an actress - she is NOT Bella, vampires are not real, Actors and actresses are frequently told what to wear and what to say at publicity stuff, get over yourselves people!
why can't they leave the girl alone....I love her no matter what they say, she is actually one of my fave actresses and i love how honest she is, shes not gonna sugar coat and say "ooo i loved kissing a vampire" because she actually didnt, i can see why she gets annoyed when they ask her that sometimes, she is soooo real and down to earth and i really hope she doesnt let those idiotic people bring her down...she's a great actress and they can all kiss her ass
She young, hip, and talented. The dress is hot. Reminder to those who criticize: she's only 18 and dresses cool. She always looks amazing at the openings and her dress choices are spot on.

The audience were laughing during the hospital scene in Twilight, which i agree it was a little over the top and didn't work well. But she has an impressive choice of films for someone so young! Being an intelligent actor, she will always choose cutting edge and interesting material! She got spunk guys!
I agree that people shouldn't be hateful. We have enough hate in the world. I really don't like her makeup like that though.

There is a large age range of fans for this series of books. I have noticed the young girls tend to by quite critical of her. Well, Dee hit the nail on the head with her comments, I think the phrase "jealous much" applies.
To Kristen Stewart, I am turning 40 in a few weeks and I want to say to you that you are very impressive young actress! Don't listen to the negativity, you know your own identity and that is very rare at your own age. One of the things that impresses me so much about you is your ability to live your own life on your terms, good for you! You are an old soul just like Bella is in the book. You were the perfect actress for the part and I love all your other work too. I first noticed you in Speak, I literally cried throughout the entire movie. I can't wait to see you win your first Oscar, because it will happen someday!

I like Dee's theory. Maybe everyone is just a little jealous that she landed the role of Bella and she "took" Edward.
I also think it is sexist behavior from the media. If Rob refused to comment on his kissing scenes, he would come across like a gentleman... when Kristen does, she's labeled the b-word.

I haven't noticed her receiving any better or worse media attention then other stars her age. But then again, I don't really follow her specifically, I just know what I read in general gossip magazines and websites. It's part of being in Hollywood. Also, she really does not dress well a lot and that dress is not cute.
I actually like this dress, as well!! I think she has been making some great wardrobe choices as far as her premieres and big events! People she is YOUNG!! She may have said some things that didn't come off as grateful, but I think she will learn. This is a HUGE thing for any actress to contend with. And yes, I think there is a lot of jealousy out there. Just think for a second of how it must feel being screamed at, pushed around, sometimes hated at and being scrutinized under a microscope?? I hope she will be able to come through this in tact, unlike so many rehab queens. I believe she is just trying to keep her wits about herself.

I feel that actresses (and women in general) are often criticized harshly when they follow the beat of a different drummer. Is Kristen Stuart the next Charlize? No. Kristen Stuart may not be typical, but she is definately talented and insteresting in a unique way. No wonder the media would attack her, they probably don't know what to make of her...
I agree. Kristin is my age, and I can't imagine being criticized like that constantly and have every word I say dissected. I realize that comes with the fame, but come ON people! She is just a girl. And what most people don't realize that not every actress on this earth is congenial or overtly friendly. Kristen is just a quiet, somewhat socially awkward girl-- but I love her so much for that. She is who she is and doesn't give a care you know? She is an extraordinary actress and that's all that matters. So BACK OFF PEOPLE!
Kristen needs to stop doing these interviews, for a while, they are just ripping her apart. All the movies that she is or will be in will sell themselves, i dont think she needs to be out there. she said that she hates doing the press interviews (they make her nervous). Her publicist really needs to step in and help her out. The dress though was great, she is young and looks good. People are just jealous that they dont have a body that can fit in a dress like that and look great. She is not the same old boring actress (like alot of other young hollywood). She is herself. LET HER BE PEOPLE!!!

For a young actress Kristen Stewart has put a lot of hard work and artistic creativity into a slew of characters. People need to realize that this is the career she chose, to be an actress and be in the spotlight. Unfortunately for her that comes with a lack of privacy, hence why I would never want to be famous. That being said, for her to be criticized in such an immature way by ignorant dime a dozen reporters unable to dig below their surface thinking to conjure up good questions is ludicrous.
I disagree with the writer of this article. Fully on Dan Levy's side here. She needs all the criticism she can get to bring her attitude down a notch.

I kind of realy don't understand why so much media are critisising her all the time, she is nice, she is a great actress, always take her time for her fans, never said something bad or mean about anyone she worked with, she seems grateful to me, she is honest, she is not fake, there should be more girl like her in holywood!
I know she is not realy good at doing interview but I honestly think she is cute when she search her words, beats her lips and says a lot of "hum, you know, yeah, hum"

I'm sorry but I don't think Kristen is an innocent here. I think she brings a lot of it on herself with her nasty attitude, her weed smoking in public, her lack respect for her fans. She makes it hard to sympathize with her.
Nice article.I agree with Lorialee (above) -Kristen is being harassed unfairly by all these media losers who can't compose interesting intelligent questions and using primitive templates to build interview. Shame on them, that's why they'll always remain z-listers, THEY are replaceable, not her. She is stunning, not afraid to speak her mind, intelligent, INTERESTING. The dress is beatiful - fresh and not ordinary - just like Kristen herself.
I really don't care what Kristen does in her free time. All I know is that Kristan destroyed Bella'a true personality in Twilight. She did not know who Bella was, and protrayed her as bored and too agressive. I really hope she steps it up for the next movie.
I don't think she has an attitude, it seems to me that she gets nervous in interviews and that may come of as an attitude when I really don't think it is. The way she dresses is cool, she takes fashion risk and most critics can't really understand that. Regarding her portrayal of Bella I think she did a good job. I think there could have been a couple scenes where she could smile a little more but thats not her fault thats the directors. Kristen's awesome and I can't wait to see her in New Moon!
to amanda bell, good for you. you think independently, you don't just jump on the bandwagon of the 'let's-bash-somebody-so-we-get-noticed' media professionals(?) who use derogatory remarks to bring attention to themselves. you don't always agree with the celebrity you write about but you try to be polite and impartial.
i think all these bad reports about Stewart is getting way out of hand. but then as they say in showbiz, any news (good or bad) is great news as long as people talk about you. some celebrities even deliberately do stupid, crazy stuff to get noticed.
i saw (part of) the so-called showdown from MTV Canada and really, can people not just move on from Twilight? behind the actors that were being interviewed was a BIG board saying ADVENTURELAND, where on earth is Twilight there? what's so special about Pattinson's kiss anyway? people seem to have forgotten that Kristen was partly involved with auditioning the EDWARD character as she was already casted as BELLA...correct me if I'm wrong. for people to say that she is 'cashing in' on Pattinson is not necessarily true. Is it not the other way around? I live in England and really, who was Pattinson before Twilight? nobody, he even said he was about ready to quit until this came along, whereas Stewart had done a lot of praise-worthy films.
this film's success cannot and must not be just because of ONE actor...who in my opinion did not really do much acting, really. i watched it over and over to see for myself why there's so much hype about Pattinson and I still cannot find it.
Stewart was quite 'limited' by the material. (the so-called hospital scene, what was the director have to say? isn't that the reason why there is a director? did she fall asleep or maybe hospitalized during filming or maybe that's what Stewart was 'directed' to do.) She was much better in Speak, Panic Room, Into the Wild and even The Messengers.
Just because she doesn't fit the stereotypical young hollywood actress of this day and age is anyone justified for bashing her.
she did so much better in previous interviews for her past films because she was asked more appropriate and intelligent questions, rather than 'how does it feel to kiss Pattinson?' besides, i feel there was just too much 'shallow' publicity for the film, there's really not much you can say about vampires can you?
looking forward to her future projects without Pattinson because really, she can do better. i think the future is bright for this young actress, she is true to her craft and actors she has worked with praised her work ethics.
I love Kristen Stewart. She is a wonderful actress. She has done a great job protraiting Bella. And I also think that she has a very good fashion taste. She looks beautiful in that dress. We should all just leave her along and let her to bring us more well made movies.

kristen is a real talent and has been trying to overcome fanbase initiated rumors that she doesn't really care about Twilight from back when she was cast. margo said the treatment she is getting is sexist behavior and she is right. sadly the sexism is girl on girl and it's sickening! i have never seen such venomous bullying from a group of women as these twilight fans in my life!

if she promotes her movie using twilight's fame, she shouldn't complain about getting 1 or 2 questions about twilight.

Amanda, I applaud you. I am a huge fan of Kristen and it really offends me with all these people putting her down. She truly is a great actress even if she's done some not-so-good jobs. And I don't care what ANYONE says; she probably has the most emotion of any actress- she just shows it more through her eyes than her face. She wouldn't be critized if she'd stop acting like the movie and the fans have totally ruined her life. It would also be nice if she'd go to an interview and not act like they're asking her to shoot Nikki Reed. The whole cast has indicated they are overwhelmed with the success of the movie and the fans but she's the only one who is rude and arrogant on a consistent basis. Everyone else gets through it and manages to treat fans with respect. For example, I saw a video yesterday on a fansite where Jackson and Ashley were asked by the moderator at a public appearance to dance together. They graciously danced with each other for a few seconds and then Jackson said some very sweet things about Ashley. It was obvious it wasn't planned and they were probably suprised by the request but they were respectful. If it had been Kristen and Rob, Kristen would have rolled her eyes, shrugged her shoulders, looked around for someone to rescue her, and shook her head no. She's been in the business for a long time and her family is in show biz so she knows how the game is played. She also should not be shocked that she has to answer the same old questions over and over again. In fact, if she's as smart as claimed then why hasn't she made up some answers to use when she's asked those same old questions over and over? Everyone who thinks she's just too young...well Dakota Fanning is younger than Kristen and she gives great interviews so age has nothing to do with it. While I think it was wrong to call her a bitch, I do think it's time someone called her out for her attitude. Surely, Amanda, you understand what I'm saying.
I.m not here to judge, but to give my own opinion. PERSONALLY, i dont consider Kristen to be such a talent, she said it herself in an interview that "any girl could have played Bella and not mess up" so this popularity she gets is only thanks to the books, otherwise she would have been playing timy roles as always. and again, i.m no jugde, just personal opinion: they could have picked a better, more skilled actress to play Bella.

Kristen has been unfairly judged by the media and other Twilight 'fans'. She's an 18 year old indie kid who's been thrown into main stream spotlight - a spotlight that's used to seeing overly bubbly and overly happy Mouseketeers. And if you're not a conforming Mouseketeer, you're considered to be rude and ungrateful when in fact you're just nervous or would rather answer more intelligent questions.
Unfortunately, it appears that questions such as 'Oh my God! What's it like kissing/touching Robert Pattinson?" aren't going away anytime soon. So, are there other ways to handle the media and sudden attention? Sure. And she's learning to deal with it - just not the fake-bubbly way. Thank God.
And for those who say that Kristen doesn't respect her fans - have you seen the youtube vid of Twilight stalker/fans who showed up at her house? She was weirded and creeped out by them but still politely signed autographs for them.
I love Kristen! Its absolutely horrid that she's been getting such bad press. She's a fabulous girl and a good actress!

I don't know where people are getting 'her lack of respect for the fans' crap.
I know a dozen people who have met her recently and had nothing but extremely nice things to say about her.
Everything she says or does is twisted to make her seem like the bad guy.
Open your eyes people. They've singled her out because of her fame, like they do with a lot of celebrities.
They've singled her out because she is naturally stand-offish with the media and they despise that. So, hey, why not rag on her and feed off of her fame and the success of Twilight?
She has said a hundred times how thankful she is for Twilight and its fans.
