Here's what you already know about The Twilight Saga: New Moon's opening weekend at the box office: (1) According to Fandango, one of New Moon's most contributive ticket sellers, The Twilight Saga: New Moon was selling tickets at an average of 10 per second on Saturday; (2) Midnight ticket sales put The Twilight Saga: New Moon at the number one spot, with $26.27 million, breaking the record previously held by The Dark Knight; (3) Opening day sales (including those midnight showtimes) reached the number one spot as well, again blasting past The Dark Knight, with $72.7 million; and (4) the weekend estimates surpassed any and all expectations with a $140.7 million domestic opening weekend estimate putting it at the number three biggest box office opening weekend ever.

Now, new information is making its way to the surface, only furthering the stagger of these statistics.

The Hollywood Reporter is showing The Twilight Saga: New Moon to have taken in $118.1 million internationally, putting it at the number one spot in international film sales this weekend. The figures show New Moon bringing in $18.7 million from the United Kingdom, $17 million from France, and $13.7 million from Spain.

Gross worldwide sales, then, equaled about $258.8 million over opening weekend alone. Wowza!

And get this, Forbes is reporting that, of the top ten best openings, The Twilight Saga: New Moon was the only one that didn't open during the summer. Translated roughly that means that The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, which opens on June 30, 2010, may stand an even better chance in the box office.

They are basing the $140 mil weekend figures on estimates. They estimate the Sunday numbers to be 40% less than Saturday's take. I believe their estimates are too low, and the total weekend take will be closer to 150 mil.
I also think that if Eclipse is promoted right,(fewer clips than New Moon but get them out to many different demographic groups) it will make more, and vie for first place in 1st weekend box office takes.

    Just sayin'!
