Manny Pacquiao versus the 'Twilight' vampires?

NY Boxing Examiner Michael Marley, who also runs the controversial boxing site Boxing Confidential, has suggested that the number one fighter in about six different weight classes, Manny Pacquiao (who is just coming off of a victory against Ricky "The Hitman" Hatton), might be afraid of the Twilight vampires, but that he thinks that he could take them.

I wonder which particular vampires Mr. Marley is referring to, because from my read of the Twilight series there'd be no chance.

[ * Warning * This article contains a number of spoilers about the Twilight series! ]

Sure Pacquiao's a great fighter, a philanthropist (richer than his own government, so he hands out food and necessities to the poor out of his own pocket), and he has a great deal of promise with his career, but take on Edward Cullen? Not so sure.

In the Twilight series, Edward Cullen (played by Robert Pattinson in the film version) is lightning fast (and I don't mean in the float like a butterfly sense, I mean lightning), "impossibly" strong (as Bella, played by Kristen Stewart, would say in the film version), practically made of concrete and marble, venomous, and a mind reader. So, Pacquiao's chances against Edward? Slim to none.

Same goes for Emmett Cullen (played by Kellan Lutz in the film). He may not read minds, and he may not be quite as fast as Edward, but he will still just be a blur in your vision that you weren't sure you even saw as he pummels the next bear in line without an unnecessary blink of the eye. So, Emmett Cullen, Mr. Marley? No-sir.

Jasper, dear Jasper (played by Jackson Rathbone), would kill Manny Pacquiao. While the boxing ring, as he says, may be "filled with bloodsuckers already," it has nothing on this Confederate soldier turned fighter and war hero (who could probably also convince Pacquiao to relax by just looking at him).

The list could go on... Carlisle (Peter Facinelli) would probably try to make friends first and settle this thing like adults, but if Pacquiao insisted on a bout - he'd be a goner. Rosalie (Nikki Reed) would probably add insult to injury, and take him down with her fury for violent men. Alice (Ashley Greene) could just anticipate his every move and avoid him, laughing at him all the way. There are many more Twilight vampires, but few that could be easily taken down.

Manny Pacquiao, I admit, is an excellent entertainer and one heck of a boxer - as I have been forced to watch all of his fights by pugilist afficionados - but he is no match for the Twilight vamps.

So, what do you think? Is Manny Pacquiao, one of the best boxers in the world right now, any match for the Twilight characters? Comment below and let us know!

This could be a toss-up! I would go for Pac-Man. He is a real, he is sooo good. Never I've seen a fierce fighter on the ring and such a humble person off the ring. How could he possibly be so nice when he has defeated dozens of world champs and has fought/won in 6 weight classes???? Crazy!

    ...Really?

As much as this is a joke, there is more to the world than Twilight. Its really getting to be ridiculous. Its so sad that you guys need to bring down such a brilliant fighter by stupid comparisons like this, even if its "just a joke". I'm so sick of people treating Twilight like its the best thing in the world. Its pathetic that you guys needed to bring a great man like Manny Pacquiao into this. Get a life.

Leave Pacquiao alone and go on with your fantasies of making out with your fictional vampires. Do you still wake up wet from your dreams?

    You're so pathetic.

    Get a life.

Did you see Pacman's crucifix? Did you see him pray? He's a devout catholic from a line of devout catholic. He could take on vampires.

this article is just weird. why would you match a real human being from fictional characters? i mean, i'm a filipino and proud "kababayan" of pacquiao, and a hardcore twilight fan as well, but this article is just funny *sarcastic*. i can imagine this being written by a 12-year-old boy who's into boxing and has always been insecure about Edward Cullen. But not from a grown-up, and i suppose a journalist? ha-ha.

Why do you want Pacquiao and the cullens have a bout? Also in real Robert Pattinson will get pummeled and get his handsome face ruined. So what does the Pacman care about Twilight?

Lol. This is a very novel article. I love boxing and I love the Twilight series. See I saw Manny Pacquiao nearly decapitate Ricky Hatton in that fight. I've been following him and his boxing career even before he became a star. But just for a joke and pure fanstasy, if Manny Pacquiao were a vampire like in Twlight, no one would beat him, Period. Wow, I'd never thought I'd use the name Manny Pacquiao and Twilight in the same sentence.

If people think twilight is such a fantasy, then i'm not so sure as to why they wasted their times reading it in the first place. Come on guys, no one is completely mature and we'll never be. Some of these people seem like they have a lot more problems then dissing hardearned publicists on the internet.

amanda could kick your behinds. :)

The Pacman will be protected from vampires even in his sleep because he always carry the cross. He was interviewed on one of the Filipino TV show and he said that he always wear the rosary. The only way he will get bitten is if he invite the Cullens for dinner.
