Dakota Fanning has been stunning in her portrayal of many a character in her still-very-young lifetime and career. Practically on the screen since she could talk, her words and talent have displayed a maturity beyond her years for quite some time now.
So, can Fanning handle the Twilight bite that is associated with her recent casting in The Twilight Saga: New Moon? Chances are she can.
Her character Jane is a pint-sized vampire member of the Volturi guard - a venomously vicious vixen (pardon the alliteration) - who can and will singe even the strongest of others with a simple smile.
Fanning has the experience and know-how to tackle just about every role she could be placed in, but her portrayal of Jane, to be sure, must be spot-on, deliciously evil.
It's not the type of role we've seen her in yet, so do you agree that she can handle the Twilight bite?

Dakota Fanning will be fine in the role. She isn't a snot nosed, brat of a starlet, she is an actress. Her range is good and she can stand having a smaller role until the later installments.
And as for demanding. After the contract is signed, there is no demanding, it is what it is. Also, a 15 year old child can't demand anything. Anything that is there her handlers (managers, lawyers, maybe parents) take care of that. This will work fine.
One more rant and I'm done. Movies can not follow the book faithfully. It simply isn't possible. Movie makers have to sacrifice this for that. We have seen this big time in Harry Potter.

I think she will do wonders for the role of Jane. She doesn't seem like a very selfish person who is just in it for the money. She seems like she genuinely loves to act, and she's great at it. I am glad they chose her. She will be great.
My god, people! The whole reason that Dakota Fanning HAS so many credentials is because she can act! It's not like they're putting Brad Pitt in there! She'll do fine unless the media puffs this whole thing up into something way bigger than it needs to be and then everybody is LOOKING for her to be a big, stuck up star.
Dakota is a great actress and i think she will do well as Jane. She is very mature for her age, and i feel that the twilight fans will be impressed. Ihave faith in her.
I hope that in New Moon nobody over acts like they did in Twilight(i.e. Rob Pattinsons face expressions). it was compleatly overdone.
I also think she would be good, I just wonder why she would want such a small role to be such a known actress? It worries me that the part of Jane may be made bigger for her or they will break the budjet trying to pay for these bigger named actors and end up making another crappy movie! hopefully she just loves it as much as we do! Ithink she will be great and it gives me hope for a better movie because they are getting better actors!
I think she will do good. I don't think she will hog all the attention, I really don't think Meyer would allow that. I think New Moon will probably be better than Twilight was simply because of the new producer and the mistakes they know they've already made.
i really think that they should keep from keep sceans out of the movie this time. becasue last time it was a rip off for the frist movie i she demands a bigger part in the movie and runnis it we will not be happy about it and she should be happy part she gets
Dakota Fanning is indeed an "A list actress." However I think because she is soo interested in the Twilight Saga she understand the small role Jane has in New Moon. I think she will do good as Jane because she is soo small. But what I am worried about is she has soo many roles before as an innocent young girl. I havent seen one movie that has showed her as evil or malicious in any way. The way i see Jane. My question is, will she pull off the dark vampire role?
I think that she is an amazing actress and would do good at any role. However this is a small but important character and she is used to being the center of attention on the screen. She's also known as the sweet and innocent type of roles I don't know if the audience can picture her as a bad vampire.
I absolutely love Dakota Fanning!! She will be great! I do hope this sequal is better and more detailed Than Twilight! I loved the movie, but it definetely could have been tons better and a little longer to get more of the book in there. It was a bit disapointing. I just don't understand why they can't make a movie like the book. They take out so much detail, and important parts.
I think that Dakota Fanning will do a fantastic job, as she does with all of her characters. Her presence in the film will help sales and, I believe, push Chris Weitz to turn out a GREAT sequel. Yes, she is very well recognized, but I feel that Bella will still be the focus.
Well I think Dakota Fanning will be a excellent choice to portray Jane in NEW MOON. She is a talented young actress and very mature for her age. I think she can handle the upcoming role. I can soooooooo see her being Jane. Its just perfect. Also I would have to agree with the others who have said that the first Twilight movie left out important parts such as love scenes and I hope that the upcoming movie will be more like the book that I fell in love with. They should stick to the way the book goes and not stray away. I think the TWILIGHT fans would appreciate it more and love it more. I just cant wait until NEW MOON comes out in theators and I cant also wait until the trailor is finally out for the public so they can take a gander as to what to look forward to in the future. I LOVE TWILIGHT!!!!!!!!!!
i dont think Dakota Fanning should play the part of Jane in the movie New Moon. My opinion on her acting is bad!!! I dont like her at all and i think she'll screw the movie up!!!!!!!!

Dakota is a very good actress. She has been in a lot of movies that i love. But for some reason her being in New Moon, it just seems a little off to me. By looks, i would say she could pull it off. She seems to be fitting for the role as Jane, but her acting...this may just be a little too big of a part for her. We will have to see how she does. Im excited to see how she does. :]
i say we all shush up and give the girl a chance, and if she screws it up, then the crew learn from their mistakes, well..i hope so they seem to not have learned that kristen is unable to finish a scene without uncontrollably blinking, using no facial or emotional expressions, and over acting every scene, but hey Dakota is very talented i think she physically fits the part of Jane, she deserves a shot.
I think Fanning is great for the part. I am excited about seeing her in the new films to come. I think she has the right amount of spunk, fight, and attitude for playing the character. I believe she will handle it very well. As for Summett, they are working side by side with Stephanie Meyer to make sure the Twilight vision is portaded in the best way possible for her and the books fans. Jane plays a big part in the book. She is not the Vampire to mess with. Bella and Jane do not like each other. Jane puts Edward in pain and Bella hates to see anyone have that control over him. Jane hates Bella for that fact that she is powerless to Bella. It is the film directors job to make sure her presents is known. The book scenes with Jane are important, rememberable. Bella carries the images of Jane and the other volturi's with fear. The film makers have to make sure that she is burn into "WE Bella's" so that we can experience her the same way that Bella does, no less. On that note remember when making a book into a film, there are not going to be 100% on the money. They are going to do there best. With Twilight, some of the scenes were a mix of Bella's point-of-view and Edward's point-of-view. Those of you who have not gone on to Stephanie's website to see the unfortually unfinished Midnight-Sun book need to take a look. Like Steph, I would not usually recommand reading it, because it is unfinished. For the understanding of some of the way the film was done, I think you should take a look. It is not perfect and you will notice the differences. If it were finished I know it would be even better. You will be left wanting more, but the movie matches some of the way the film turned out on Edward's side.
I enjoyed the film myself. I know you have to have the negative commenters out there, but I say if you do not like it, do not try to mess it up for those who do. Please do not take offense. LOVE ALL THE TWILIGHT CREW!!! Can't wait to see New Moon!!

The article said it all. I'm not thrilled to have her in New Moon. My fears are exactly that, that Jane will be dealt with differently because Dakota is such a big actress. I recognize that she is very talented, but I don't see her as Jane. I really hope that they keep Jane true to herself and do not make it bigger for commercial purposes.
i think that she will do an okay job but i hope that they do not make her parta big one because she is supposed to have a little part and it would mess up da movie if she gets a big role!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I would be MAD!!<3

Supposedly Dakota is a fan of the books, in which case, I do not think she'll insist on her role being bigger than what the book calls for just because she is who she is. With that being said, I think she'll do a fine job in the role
Yes I agree that to a point there is the possibility that they will go to far with Jane(Dakota), but I honestly don't think they will. From everything you read about New Moon, they are staying "True" to the book. Well as much as possible, as not to get to long of a movie! But I don't think she will want a "blew" up part simply for names sake. Just having her in it, and it being the movie that it is will be commercial enough!!!! I love the Twilight Saga, and I love watching Dakota also, so this is a GREAT move by Summit! I think it will all work out in the end! Just give them a chance before you start tearing them apart!

Thus far I have been very dissapointed in the choices for these movies. Twilight missed the heart of the story, and made you feel like it was seriously missing something. Do these directors read these books? And what's up with a different director for every movie? Talk about loss of cohesiveness. Try 1 director for ALL the movies. As for Dakota Fanning, she's a good actress, I might even go so far as to say great, but after the great let down of Twilight, I'd really hate to spend my money on another Stephanie Meyer mess. If this well known actress is going to be in this movie, it will loose even more of it's heart. This isn't a over done cast, they are all seasoned actor's actresses, but not big billboard names, so they can chameleon into these roles so much nicer. I fear that Dakota Fanning will change the focus of the movie, and that even more of Edward and Bella's romance will be lost. Too much has been lost already!
i think she'll do great and that she'll bring attention to the movie and if more people say that they need to do a little better, they will, which is what's needed and i was all for her since the beginning.

I was dissapointed that Twilight the movie was so different from the book. For me it didn't hold everything that the book did. Jane has a small part and if they make it bigger because she is famous I think it will just be dissapointing again. The books are incredible and we should stick to their story line, just because someone is famous doesn't mean they should change the story so they can be in the spotlight. NO NO NO!
I have to agree with some of the other comments. After reading the first two books of the Twilight Saga I seriously expected A LOT more from the movie. I also believe that if New Moon is centered too much around Fanning it will be a bust. Fans are seriously expecting big things with the coming movies from the Twilight Saga.
Just hope they stay true to the books. if the director and writers do that they won't have much negative feedback from those of us who love the series. We are waiting... please don't let us down!
Dakota said she has read "Twilight" and "New Moon" (maybe she has read all of the series...I read it somewhere) and she will make sure that her part is not this spotlight attraction that she is better than Kristen (just think...they will be working together in The Runaways). I hope we will all be pleased with her performance(s). Good Luck and please remember the Twilight fans and Mr. Weitz please do not overflow Dakota's part in the movie...she is NOT the main focal point in this movie!

First, if I had not seen Twilight and now heard that Dakato was going to be in the next one I would be determine now to see Twilight before going, and I mean going to see New Moon.
Second, I have not read any of the books. I will not till I have seen all the movies. That way my expectation from the books are not upset.
There is no way a director and writer can make a book into a real direct movie. Unless the book was like maybe 100 page which these are not.
From all my reading of output on the Twilight series Jane's part is quite small in New Moon. But remember the next two she is a majore presences in the story.
Dakato is now 15, by the time they make the next two she will be 16 then 17 or 18.
Every majore star that has play opposite her has raved about her performance and professionalism. One director stated that he shook in his shoes after being interviewed by her before she would accept the part that as when she was 9.
I notice the critism on her part in Hounddog was that her parents should not had choose the part for her. LOL, then didn't she does all her on choosing. She has been looking for a part like this for the last couple of years where she could break her little girl image.
She has stated in interview that she was dying to perform opposite all teh stars in this movie. She normally does not accept less the $3 million a movie lol, I'm sure that a lot more then the stars in Twilight got.
But if she is sucessusfull in this movie she is basically committed to two more. Which means she must not accept any other that might comflict with this series.
I honestly think this could be the breakout role for her. She is a real professional. I hope the director is as good.

she was awesome. she looks young and all but Jane is pretty much little too. Dakota is one of my favorite actresses, and if you say she dosnt look like a vampire, well no one really does thats why theres makeup. Oh and plus shes very pale she wont need much makeup

i am a fan of Dakota and of the twilight saga and i believe she can handle this role. Just because she is 15 dosnt mean she cannot handle a role like this. She was 10 going on 11 when she was in the horror/thiller movie Hide and Seek with Robert De Niro and that would have been challenging. I also do not believe this will become "the vampire flick with Dakota Fanning in it" either. Yes, her fans will still wish to see her work but twilight fan and Dakota Fanning fan may well be the same because they are mostly from the same age group.

Well, I think Dakota is a great actress. But I am not so sure Jane is a role for her. When I thought of Jane, I think of Dakota. But the problem is that she is always casted in movies and everytime its all about her. Even when she isn't the main character, it seems that she draws attention to herself. jane is so tough and mean and dakota is so not. i think it might be a little hard for her to play something like that. and you'd be suprised at how many people are freaking out and saying they hate the fact that dakota is playing jane. but i dont want to be to critical so good luck dakota!!
