If there were to be a 'Twilight' spin-off, what would you want it to be about?

Curiously, a while back (in April) we discussed whether after The Twilight Saga: New Moon, after The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, and after The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn (fingers crossed), a television series based on the Twilight series could be worthwhile (see here).

Back then, the commentary was split - some all for a Twilight spin-off, and others vehemently opposed.

Lately, though, the conversation has been brought back to the fore.

The reason? At the Vision Awards, the producers from Twilight and The Twilight Saga: New Moon admitted that a spin-off television series was not off the table (see here).

This drew in a flood of discussion over whether the Twilight series could stand to see a spin-off. Though we'd certainly like to see Stephenie Meyer pen more for the Twilight series herself (see here), the fact remains that - at least for now - it doesn't seem to be a likely option.

That said, the idea of the producers of Twilight, New Moon, and Eclipse's film series getting in on a spin-off film series or television show doesn't irk the nerves of some Twilight fans nearly as much as it used to.

So, how would a post-Breaking Dawn television or film series spin-off look?

Some say they'd like to see a continuance of the story of Renesmee and Jacob. Others say it'd be great to see more from the Volturi (back stories, future endeavors, and the like, for instance). Most obviously, there are those who wish nothing more than to see more of Bella as a vampire. Finally, even Peter Facinelli was a good sport about the idea - saying he'd like to see the "Carlisle Chronicles" (see here).

Though we know that the glistening career options that the film series' stars Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, and Taylor Lautner have ahead of them may be a mighty barracade plopped firmly in front of the progress of such an endeavor, it's fun to speculate, is it not?

So, if you could choose the path that a hypothetical spin-off series would take, which direction would they go? More werewolves? Volturi? Renesmee? Comment below, and let us know your thoughts!

I think a spin off with the back stories, starting with Carlisle's transformation, going through his life (or the important parts) then show him working in the hospital with edward, then bringing esme, Rosalie, etc along. And then when they get to Alice and Jasper time to come in, they could go back and do a catch up during some episodes. Basically Chronicle the lives of the Cullen family from start to the start of the Twilight series.

well the only ones I would watch are vamp bella and maybe volturi (i love aro-hes funny even though hes a dick). I hate the Jake and Nessie pairing, and i hate the wolves. VAMPIRES ALL THE WAY!

Defs Renesmee and Jacob, but the Cullen Chronicles sound really good, their stories up until Bella was introduced.

I think that's very unlikely to happen. But... fingers crossed to see more of Nessie and Jake's story.

the bottom line is, I think it may take some persuading to get Meyer to agree to a spin-off. She would probably want it her way so it doesn't ruin the saga's already highly respected influence. But to be honest, I would probably like to see more of Edward, Jacob, Bella and Renesmee as a family and the complications they come across. And something probably unexpected like Renesmee joining the Volturi for her ability or summin like that.

as much as I love it, I'm not interested in watching more of it..It would damaged the beautiful well written story by Stephanie. The books and the movies are enough..if maybe they wanna do something, maybe the Volturi something not already written...

Not really sure what I would want to see the most. I have always imaginged the future with Jake and Nessie, but the Volturi Chronicles would be so cool. ANd the Carlisle chronicles following Carlisles life from creation to present would be great story telling since there would be his beginning, his time with the Volturi, his travels, maybe even be able to hit the story of creating Edward and Esme and go into deatils about the whys.

I would love to see something on my favorite vampires in the books, the Volturi, chronicling their start, the immortal child issues, the war in the south, and maybe even a future plot to do away with the Cullen's. It's only a matter of time before they decide that wolf-pack has to go. They were built for killing vampires, why would they leave them around too long? Especially if they have a relationship with the Cullens, which is practically the second strongest coven.

I would very much enjoy a television series based on the 1st book. It could be titled, "Twilight, The Early Years". The writer's could go anywhere with the storyline, Not changing the basics, much like the television series, "Smallville" does with the Superman Saga. It would be great to have the series told through Edward's perspective, also, just as Midnight Sun, which , though not finished, was my favorite book.

I want to see Midnight Sun completed first before anything else is done. After that the story could naturally move on to Renesmee and Jacob.

I would like to see the stories of the vampires who come to "witness" Renesmee, like the Irish coven, the Egyptian coven, etc. in addition to the backstories of the Cullens and the Volturi.

I'd like to see Midnight Sun finished before anything goes spinning anywhere. Heck, I'd like to see Stephenie do the whole series in Edwards point of view before anything else. but a spin off..I want to see what would happen next w/Bella and Edward...so the next 100 years of their relationship.....

WOW I was very suprised to see the majority of you want to see Jake and Renesmee. The first thing that came to my head when I finished BD, lIke litterally seconds after I read the last sentence (over and over) I thought now what I want more Bella. I want to know more about her abillities and where she goes and how she handles it. We get such a small taste. Yes, Jacob and Nessy have SO MUCH left to grow into but really I want to see Bella in her vampire life. ON the other hand, I would NEVER want that writing to be left up to another writer, and Steph is way to talented to write for TV, so in the end I guess I agree, Jake and Nessy are the best FIT for TV, and the story could be told from any point of view since we didnt learn TOO much about that part. And Jacob will probably be the only one "available" to continue the story on screen...we will see how things go for his career (bet money its not as full as Kstew and Rpatz)

As far as a spin off. I would like to see where the story goes with Bella and Edward. Bella's powers, and how she is able to show Edward her thoughts. I would love a series to come out where it shows Renesamae growing up. And how her powers evolve. And how the bond between Jacob and the Cullen's become more than it was in BD. I would love to see them all. But it would have to be with the same cast that is in the movies, or it wouldn't be worth watching. It wouldn't be the same. We all have come to love the cast in the Twilight movie. And we already love the new ones in the other books as well. Why not keep it going. Let us see how things turn out with Jacob having to deal with someone that is like Renesamae. The half human half vampire boy. I can see him in more of the shows as well. Giving Jacob a challenge for Renesamaes love. Have it set like Smallville. Where it comes on every week. Something new and Different going on with the Cullen's, and the Wolf pack. Something we all love.

And another thing. I agree with the ones that would love to see Midnight Sun finished. I would love a to see that as a show as well. I would love to know Edwards thoughts during all the crazy stuff that happened in the Twilight Sagas. It would show us what he was thinking when things happened. It would be great to be in his head, to know and understand him more. I think the spin off is a great idea. And to finish the Midnight Sun series would be as well. But none of it would be any good with out Mrs. Stephenie Meyers. She made Twilight what it is. She would have to be the one to finish it. In books, the big screens, and on T.V. With out her it is nothing. Thanks to her, for all she does. And God Bless for her impact on us all. We love her. She has truly changed the vampire world forever... And we love it... Please don't let it end..Thanks for your time.

I would love for Stephenie change her mind and complete Midnight Sun, and even further the Twilight series with yet another book. Certainly she should know by now that us fans would totally support another book or two! COME ON STEPH!!! Help us out here! We will get tired of Twitter after a while!!! We need more books! Hey if they could do a spin-off series and do justice with it, I say heck yeah do it!

I, personally, would LOVE it if the movies stopped at Eclipse, and a TV spin-off happened starting at the book Breaking Dawn, the first season being Breaking Dawn, the second eason being adventures of the Cullen Vampire family... LOL

    OR.....

Finish the series in the movies and make the TV spin-off be about Bella and Edward in high school and start the seasons at Twilight and be more in-depth (see Charlaine Harris' AMAZING book-to-TV "True Blood"). There is so much in those four books, and more adventures and back-stories from the other Cullens that a spin-off would wok.

They could focus on back stories of some of the other characters. Of course, RP, KS, and TL probably wouldn't play the leads (maybe Taylor...), but some of the minor actors could be paid enough to come over.

So, there's my take on it. It's a great idea.

i REALY hope they dont. i think it would really suck. mabey if they really wanted a show, they could make it of befor bella go's to forks, like , the cullens story showing how they all got to be a family, they could start from when Carlisle is turned into a vampire

  • tash 2 years ago

also to add they wouldnt be able to show the cullens life after BD because they live forever and the series woudnt be able to keep going since vampires are unchanging, they would have to keep changing the actors to stay young. and when people start getting fed up with it how would the end the series? cuz i kno i'd want an amazing ending not like 2 and a half men have their season finalies just like any other episode.

no no no i dont want a television series, it just sounds weird.

if they do make it all edwards POV, or Jake and Nessie.

i want Midnight Sun and the rest of the saga in Edwards POV before anything spins anywhere

I think that since everyone likes someone different in the Cullen family it would be cool to focus in on each member and how they got their start as a vampire. We see tid bits of each Cullen's vampire beginnings (ie: Rosalie's story to Bella when she came to visit her that night, or Jasper's story from when he lived with the vampires in the south, etc) but it would be great to see the whole story, from their perspective. It would make it even better if Stephenie would write it! "The Twilight Saga: Carlisle's Story" and so on...

I'd also like to see more about Bella after she's a vampire and how she handles it. Her experiences, her & Edward together as vampires, the whole Cullen family together, and more on Jacob & Renesmee. Though I agree with everyone that says it would not be the same if Stephanie Meyers didn't write it. I just want her to finish Midnight Sun and then if she wanted to write more on any of them, I'm sure it'd be Great reading! I don't care so much for tv, and if Stephanie was not writing my concern is how diluted/far stretched the show would become. Plus I'm with everyone that knows the actors would change and that's such a tough transition for the viewers/readers.

i think that they should do the series and continue on picking up after where the book breaking dawn left off. Many people wonder what happeneds to Renesmee and Jacobs relationship and what about the other vampires and werewolves? Does Bella ever mess up and kill a human and go off her "diet"? Maybe Stephenie Meyer can help write the storyline instead of writing huge books, not that i mind but it would take less time then writing a new book and would satisfy most peoples thirst for more Twilight.

I don't want there to be a spin-off, unless Stephenie Meyer herself writes a spin-off book. It would just be wrong if someone else tried to continue the story, or make a new story out of somethin in the saga.

However, I wouldn't mind if they did it all over again. A tv-series about the books, going more in details than in the movies, so that there's less things left out. But then they'd have to find new actors, 'cause if they were supposed to do this, Rob would be 26-27, and everyone else would be older too, and I hate it when 30-year olds gets the role of teenagers. But by then there would be new actors and actresses in the right age, and who knows? Maybe they'd even find even more perfect Bella and Edwards?
And also there would be a problem with the actors now being most fans "pictures" of Bella and the cullens and the wolves. To me Rob and Kristen, though they of course don't live entirely up to my Bella and Edward, are still my Bella and Edward. It's as close as I get.

NO one seems to have mentioned it, but I would really like to see a "what if" of sorts for a spin-off. What if the Cullens had never returned to Forks and/or never existed? What would life have been like for Bella and Jacob? I want to see a version with how their love would grow, and the two kids she imagines in the 3rd book. I guess I am just too much of a Jacob fan, but that's what I would like to see!
